Howard Johnson by Wyndham Niagara Falls has garnered a range of opinions, with guests enjoying its convenient location and some describing the staff as friendly and helpful. However, the hotel's amenities and cleanliness receive mixed reactions, with several reviewers calling for better maintenance and improved breakfast options. The value proposition is often questioned due to additional fees and concerns about room cleanliness and security. While some appreciate the hotel's retro ambiance, others find the atmosphere less than welcoming, citing a need for aesthetic updates.

After being wrongfully evicted from our hotel on Clifton Hill, we came here. The manager was extremely sympathetic and accommodating, non-judgemental and rented us our rooms. Although there were serious incidents that occurred in this hotel with other guests, it was handled very well and everything worked out. The rooms do need some renovations, however they were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms open up to a balcony on the top level and to the parking area on the lower level. There is a staircase that is required to get to the top level. I noticed a few pets here, appears to be pet friendly, they were well behaved. The price was great, approximately $60 for a Saturday night, although it is not peak season. The management was not judgemental about tourists during the pandemic, unlike the Travelodge on Clifton Hill. We would definitely stay at the HoJo again, after the pandemic is over as there is obviously not alot to do during this time.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, but dated. They are not fancy, but if you need a place to stay while you explore Niagara Falls, they are fine. We had no issues at all. The free continental breakfast was a bonus. It is simple (apple, muffin, waffles, toast, cereal, juice) but not all places even have that. The parking is $10 per night which is annoying, but all Niagara hotels charge for parking (some of the 5 star charge $70 per night!).

Stayed one night after an outlet mall shopping extravaganza. Four friends, 2 rooms.
Pros - no bed bugs, linens were very clean, it close to shopping and less expensive restaurants, free parking, Tim Hortons is across the road.
Cons - could use some updating. One room had gaps around the AC unit, the other had no safety chain on the door.
A note - there are what appear to be residential units here, if that bothers you for some reason, go elsewhere. This isn't the Hilton, if you want that level of hotel, pay for it. This is what you get for about $70 a night. I didn't feel "unsafe" as some reviews mention, the folks that were there didn't care about me any more than I cared about them. If you just want somewhere to sleep, it's just fine.

I normally will simply pass on writing something negative when I encounter something negative, however after our one hour stay at this location, I felt it necessary to bring it up. First, the hotel advertises free parking, yet we were charged $5. Secondly, the hotel is advertised as smoke free, yet you smell smoke in every inch of your room. Next, based on the shape of the carpet, I couldn’t bring myself to sleep on the bed. The front desk informed us as they were handing us our bag of toiletries that we would find towels in our room. I’m all for romance, but having a hand towel to dry ourselves isn’t ideal. To top everything off, there was an envelope left on the table marked “thank you housekeeping”. Not sure what we were supposed to be thanking them for. The smell of cigarettes that overwhelmed us as soon as we opened the door, used the hot tub(essentially our entire stay was spent there, as we literally lasted an hour), or went to the overly small bathroom. I would advise anyone staying in the falls, no matter how tempting the price might be, stay elsewhere. This property isn’t worth your money. I’m glad that we decided to check out and drive home instead of having a restless night that we would’ve had there.

My wife and I stayed at this location this past weekend. we had booked ahead of time through booking.com so our check in was fast and easy. We were assigned room 149.

The Staff was friendly, Our room was everything we expected for the price we paid. Our room was clean, Heat worked well, Hot water worked even better. The room came with a phone, Flat-screen TV and a really comfortable bed that had clean sheets.

This location is within walking distance / A short drive to the downtown / Clifton Hill / Falls area as well as close to MANY take out restaurants, coffee shops and more. Would 100% stay again !!!

There was entertainment all night which we did not ask for ( party from other tenants with a large tent up) . The carpet / room was full of smoke smell which we did not request also . Could not reach reception at 3pm in the morning and 24 hour service was advertised ( doors locked ) no buzzer to press from the outside to wake up whomever was there if any . The a/c made additional noise and i was scheduled to be a bridesmaid at my friend's wedding next day , ibwas a total mess from massive headache.i would not recommend this place to anyone no telephone in the room as advertised. The only thing that was promised is the bath apparently that's what i paid for .

Very clean room and great price.
Manager was really good with requests.
The hotel is dated but clean and very close to my work location.
I ended up buying shampoo as they give you a small shampoo/conditioner combo plastic packet.

We checked in and were given room 110. The non-smoking room smelled of stale smoke. There were plastic shopping tags, hair and other dirt all over the floors.
We called the front desk and they offered us another room or offered to let us go to the office to pick up a vacuum.
They switched us to room 112 which had popcorn on the floor inside the door along with more shopping tags.
It is one of the few hotels we could bring our dog in Niagara Falls. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it due to their inattention when cleaning.

Over all 9/10

I rate this hotel stay a 8.5/10. Nothing is ever perfect & we need space to grow.

Dislikes:
Breakfast! Perhaps on sundays option for eggs bacon sausage. An option for fruuit and or yogurt is nice to.

Room key! The key cards! This is a common problem at most hotels. Therefore this is directed to the The key cards and who ever invented the idea.

Lastly,

My likes:

Location! This a great location. Right on lundys lane. Save money on parking by the falls and jump on the bus. Bus stop 1 min walk "WE GO" for 3$ is a round trip up and down lundys! Ask for a transfer.

The staff are welcoming, kind and friendly. Dogs are allowed.

The people who were also staying at the hotel showed me and my family nothing but love.

The room was spacious and clean.

The food at the restaurant attached to hotel has some real good food. Lots of flavour with a nice kick of spice.

My boyfriend and I have stayed here multiple times throughout the last year. The rates are great, and the rooms are clean. The rooms with the jacuzzi are nice, the tubs are large. I was pleasantly surprised upon check in this time to see that they had started updating the rooms! Some of the decor is a little dated but it appears they’re working on updating that. If you’re looking for somewhere comfortable to stay the night the hojo is a great option. If there are noisy neighbours outside you can hear them a little bit but nothing leaving the TV on won’t block out. They do not have fridges or microwaves in the rooms and they do not offer breakfast. Overall a great place if you’re just passing through or looking to get away for the evening.
