The housekeeper Kelly is great. The rooms have good beds.
It is located close to both shopping and local attractions.
Cable TV, fridge and microwave. Free parking. Reasonable rates. Good wifi.

But there was too much street noise, especially the relentless parade of loud motorcyclists barreling by at 120 KPH well past midnight, Plus a car alarm kept going off from some inconsiderate guest. The same lazy jerk kept beeping his car locked instead of simply locking it manually in respect to fellow guests. Though this isn't the motel's fault, those with sleep issues, like I do, might want to steer clear. Otherwise, just put in some earplugs and let the air conditioner run in fan mode all night.
Also there are smoking rooms which is a huge deficit. Our room was non-smoking but everyone knows that if just one room allows smoking then that pollutes the air for the entire building. So I am even reluctant to give this motel 3 stars.
Besides, it is really close to downtown and not so far from the falls. We did the whole thing by walking.
The staff is friendly.

It was a room where somebody smoke before me - so you can imagine a smell
This room did not know renovation for last 25 years, as I understood from owner's words, because "people like you do not pay enough". Bath tube with barely fixed hole in it, old and smelly interior.
Owner did not want to honor booking conditions from contract and asked me to pay 200 as a security deposit for 60$ room (I was with my wife and my daughter). When I asked him why should I do it? - he told me he is going to cancel my stay right away because he don't like me and I can go and find a place to sleep somewhere else. I understand the owner, hotel was full of drunks. If I did not arrived close to midnight, I would definitely not stay there. Save your time and your money, go somewhere else, and probably you will save some nerves and probably would not catch an illness
But we were planning on making the best of it! Guy at check-in was really nice. We get our key to room 11, and bring our stuff in. As soon as I get in, I hear the toilet tank trying to fill itself with water. For whatever reason, it’s not working, you can’t even flush.
I tell the guy at the counter, he says he can switch me rooms. Cool. No harm, no foul.
We are then switched to Room 5, on the main floor of the hotel.
We bring our stuff in quickly and head out. We had Fort Erie and Fort George ghost tours, so we didn’t get back till closer to 1am.
I take a shower, and realize there’s only 1 towel in a room with 2 queens. On top of that, the bathtub has black gunk I literally had to scratch off with my nail and a bunch of pubes. Clearly not washed or even rinsed.
But still, I give the benefit of the doubt.
I go to the office to request the wifi password and towels. The office is locked, but whoever is on shift is in his car driving away. He stops and tells me he’ll bring me my towel and the wifi password in 10 mins.
25 minutes go by, we’re approaching 2 am. I have to go back to the office, and ring the doorbell at the office. No one is answering. I call the phone number, he answers right away and says he’ll get me another towel.
This man searches the entire hotel, and somehow can’t find a single towel. And he’s checking other rooms and everything.
Bear in mind, whenever he opens this office door, there are sketch druggie-looking people coming in and out or the back room and waiting on the streets. It’s SHADY AF.
During this time, my boyfriend in the room feels a breeze. He checks the window and sees the lock is completely broken and the screen is half-torn out. Someone can literally slide the window open from the outside and get in.
At this point, we’re like yeah, no. And the guy agrees to give us a refund using money of out the safe. When my boyfriend gets in the office, the guy says “oh no, you need to call the booking website.”
Okay, fine. Whatever; fair. We then drive around at 2 am trying to find somewhere else to stay (Shout-out to the dude at A1 Inn who hooked us up).
I get everything settled with the reservation company, and they say they need to confirm the refund with the hotel.
The next morning I get a call saying the Advance Inn is only going to refund 1 night. I’m like “hell nah.” That’s not what the guy agreed. I already had to go spend money and find another hotel BECAUSE he said he’d give me a refund because the place is atrocious.
We go back the Advance Inn, and I tell the chick I want my refund. The guy yesterday said I’d get one, and she needs to call him and confirm. She refuses, basically tells me since my boyfriend laid in the bed, the room was used. And basically sucks to be you.
She walks out of the office to (I assume), check the room. I show her all the crap, the broken window, etc. But nope! Someone laid in the dirty bed, so oh well, I guess.
She goes back to the office. I follow. And this lady tries to shut the door on my face and says she’s calling the cops because asking asking her for a refund “scares” her. Which is honestly wild, considering she’s consistently surrounded by literal crackheads, but the 5’3 blonde woman asking for a refund is what terrifies her. 😂
My boyfriend and I were gonna wait for the cops, but realized a)it’s not like they were gonna make them give us a refund, and b) I don’t wanna spend the rest of my vacation arguing with people who aren’t all there.
For what it’s worth, the guys were really nice. If the chick is terrified enough by a refund request to call the cops, I highly suggest she find a new line of work. Cause sis, this ain’t it.
Long story short - do not go to this place. Do not give them the benefit of the doubt like I did. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced, and I’m currently working to get the charges reversed by my credit card company.
Stay woke, folks. Advance Inn is a dump.
