Super 8, north by river, Niagara Falls is a great place to stay in. Room is clean. Parking and Breakfast (toast, jam, cereal, juice & coffee) are free. Staff members are friendly, they accommodated us in a room at the main level closed to the parking and the room was equipped with a refrigerator (which was supposed to be extra charge). The pool is outdoor and the water was cold though, looks like not heated! Overall great value; I recommend it for couples and families with kids.
Some lights in room didn’t work, mold in bathroom, no microwave or fridge (on website it said you just had to ask for a fridge- I did and was told they have none), had lots of trouble getting tv to work and when we did get it working there was only 5 channels to choose from. Entire room smelled like bleach. Overall a bad experience
I would never stay there again. Never again. The beds, bedding and carpet were old and dated. The toilet was disgusting with urine stains on the hinges that hold the toilet seat to the actual toilet and to top it all off, they left a humongous garbage can in front of our door.
We chose this hotel because of the outdoor pool and its proximity to Niagara Falls. Yes, the hotel is a little aged but our room was clean and the beds comfy. We were greeted by William on our first night and he set the tone for a great visit. Harman is an excellent front desk person and others are so helpful and friendly. We stayed for 9 days and would book here again.
Decent as a place to rest after a long day of doing touristy things. A generous amount of outlets to charge all the electronics. I really like the trademark Super 8/Wyndham large photograph hanging over the beds. Simple continental breakfast provided, with limited seating. A short walk from Whirlpool Aerocar (careful crossing though) and WEGO bus stops.
Look for another place to stay. This place is dirty and the food is horrible. The service was really bad. The one who checked us in smelled really bad. He looked like he was half asleep and I couldn't understand him because he was mumbling all the time
Terrible all around. Chipped carpet. Smelling badly throughout. Visible mold throughout the ceiling. Noone cared about. I tried to show picturesto front desk, but he didn't care. I reached out to Expedia as well, but all I got was a "we're sorry for your experience " but they are the once who allowed this rundown property on their site.
Room was dark, gloomy and humid. The carpet felt like it was wet and sticky around the bathroom, the ceiling’s paint was flaking, walls were wet. 3 out of 5 lamps were out of order. The noise was too much (people using the showers, speaking in the parking lot…) we shouldn’t be able to hear that well inside the room! The breakfast was sparse (3 types of cereals), « juice » in a fountain and a bag of sliced bread for everyone to put their hands into. Avoid it if you can! They did a pretty good job with the pictures but don’t be fooled. I’m certainly glad we booked only one night!
The location was great, The hotel was within walking distance to attractions and bus line. The price was affordable, but this was not a luxury hotel. There were times when the hotel staff left for short periods.
We just wanted a cheap roadhouse to stay in for one night stay on our journey from Toronto to near Hartford in Connecticut. Having previously visited the Niagara falls, we knew that the Canadian side town was pretty seedy. But it was well located for an overnight stop so we selected this establishment, on the basis of price and the knowledge that it was situated a little out of town. When we arrived, we were a little shocked at the general dilapidation and run down state of the property. We weren't expecting a lot but this was far worse than we had expected. The "Super 8" sign outside is faded in the sun. What grass there was did not appear to have been cut for months. The mat outside the reception is all torn and rucked up and the reception itself gave a very poor impression with it's general untidiness. We were then told that the electronic card key writer was broken and we would have to get the person who attended reception to open our room up for us each time we wanted to come and go using the master key. Very much not good!!!! When we were let in our room, we were simply aghast at just how dingy, dark and run down it was. It also smelt badly of body odour and stale cigarette smoke. It was situated on an upper floor and I had to lug our heavy suitcases up a rough unmade exterior concrete staircase. It would have scored ten out of ten for grot. The lights did not appear to work and when my wife picked up the phone to call reception, the phone line was dead. The final straw was where the security door chain had been pulled from the wall. I took a photo and returned to the reception. The person at reception then moved our room. This second room was better, and was of about the standard that we had expected. Surprisingly, we were issued with card keys to gain entry to this room. Strange since only a few minutes earlier we had been told that they could not issue card keys. The property is advertised as having a swimming pool. Our room nearly overlooked the "pool". It had a hard cover on it with some building rubble strewn across it. The pool had clearly not been in use for a long time. Why do they advertise it as having a pool when the pool is not available? Breakfast is included in the price and we went to get tea, coffee and cereal out of disposable utensils in the morning. This was adequate but not outstanding. In terms of location, it is around half an hour to 45 minutes walk to the falls. We were quite happy with this and enjoyed an evening stroll and an evening meal in the old town. So, would I recommend staying at the Super 8 by Wyndham Niagara North? I expect that you will be able to guess my views by the comments above. There are plenty of places to stay near Niagara and following our experience there, I would place this establishment near the bottom of any list. We won't be back!…
