Nestled in a picturesque setting near downtown, the Pillar and Post hotel is lauded for its luxurious amenities, including the pools, spa, and lush gardens that offer guests a relaxing retreat. While the hotel's historical charm contributes to a warm and cozy atmosphere, some visitors suggest it could benefit from modern updates.
The cleanliness of the hotel receives high marks, with pristine facilities and rooms. Despite the friendly and professional service, guests have called out the rooms' dated appearance and question the value, given the premium pricing.

Hotel's Favourite
Had a great time at Pillar and Post August 10. Room was clean updated and large. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We ate lunch at Vintages and dinner in the main dining room. Both meals were served hot and fresh and service was great.
Our only regret was that we didn't have enough time to stay more than the one night. There's always next time.
We have had the pleasure of staying at the Pillar and Post a few years ago and enjoyed it. This time met all expectations !!
We were there with 10 other friends and we were able to explore downtown Niagara on the Lake and had a tour at the Wayne Gretzky Winery. Both are worth the visit.

Dear Peter B, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent stay at the Pillar and Post. It is great to hear that this return visit met all expectations and you have lasting memories of a most enjoyable time. It's such a compliment that your only regret was that the stay was too short! We hope to see you again, possibly for a longer stay next time! Kindest Regards, Mandi Blair Guest Service Manager Pillar and Post Inn & Spa

We spent New Year’s Eve at the Pillar and Post and absolutely loved every second. It was the best way to end off 2019 and ring in 2020! The indoor pool, sauna, and hot springs are especially nice and well maintained and the quiet area near the spa is so relaxing you can easily spend hours there by the fireplace. Staff was extremely helpful in helping us find some late night food places open on New Years Eve and even had their own shuttle to drop us off and pick us up. Next time I will definitely book a spa treatment or two and stay more than one night!!
The rooms were large and also had a fireplace, couch, tv, and the bed was unbelievably comfortable!!! It truly felt like a home away from home.
To finish it off, on the next morning we enjoyed a delicious a la carte breakfast at the Cannery.
Vintage hotels are the best of the best if you’re looking for quality, professionalism, and a high class experience! I mean the Queen stayed there after all!

Hello Briana, I am thrilled to see you spent the new years with us! The tranquility found in the spa is carried throughout our resort and reflected by our staff. Our bedding is a favorite among our guests. So much so we offer it in our gift shop and our retail location at Clippings Floral Design. Just a piece of The Pillar and Post you can bring home to enjoy. All the best this new year! Marc

We have travelled a lot. We are very particular about where we stay when we head somewhere, regardless of whether it is business or pleasure. Hands down, The Pillar and Post was the most perfectly splendid experience we have ever had. It goes without saying that the aesthetic of this stunning property is legendary. Sprawling greenery and gardens, old courtyards, winding pathways, and perfectly appointed classic rooms play to the old world charm. Their safety measures in the ‘new normal’ were extremely comforting and well managed, and cleanliness was obviously paramount. Both pools were never busy and monitored well, and the indoor lounges were comfortable as inviting. The service - spectacular. From check-in to check out, it was professional, warm and very appreciated. Stephanie was the most incredible, hard working server we had ever met and they all seemed as dutiful and intent to please. The food at The Cannery was also top notch, as the menu elevated old classics and brought new ideas to a rustic yet elegant venue. We will return again and again.

Stayed for one night, and really enjoyed our stay. The Inn is located just outside picturesque Niagara on the Lake (NOTL) and about 15 minutes from Niagara Falls.
The place was nicely decorated for the holidays, and all staff we encountered were very pleasant to deal with. Hannah at the front desk was superb. We ate in the both the lounge and the restaurant, and both the service and food were amazing.
Our room was really nice. Keep in mind that generally the rooms are small, so if you're used to something bigger, you may want to spring for a "premium" guestroom, which are larger in size and come with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub.
I've been all over the world and the bed was easily the most comfortable I have ever slept in. I literally did not want to get up, even after a long night's sleep.
There was no additional cost for parking. We did not use the facilities but they do have an indoor pool, hot tub, workout room and spa.
I would only change two things about the place. One is that the gift shop only seems to be filled with the hotel's bedding and bathrobes, and pictures. It would be nice to have some necessities in there, like aspirin or snacks. The other is there was no valet to help when we pulled up (after a long drive we would have gladly taken some assistance with our bags). They offered this after we were checked in but it would have been better to have someone on duty at the drive. Please note these suggestions do not affect my rating, this place still deserves 5 stars.
If you're new to the area, you should ensure you have everything you need before you arrive. I needed a pharmacy for some Robaxacet, but had to drive all the way into Niagara Falls because the pharmacies in NOTL were all closed by the time I went out (it was 5:30 on a Sunday). Again, this does not affect my review as this is not the hotel's fault, I just want to make travellers aware that NOTL does button down tight when dusk arrives.
We would return, in fact I hope we do someday. Thanks Pillar and Post, for a great stay.

We went for an overnight stay June 25, 2020 and it was wonderful as usual. The hotel was well prepared for proper social distancing and cleaning procedures during the Covid-19 reopening phase, and we were so well take care of with peace of mind. The food service was well thought out with either in room dining or patio service available and all the employees wore masks. All that said though, nothing beats the beauty and serenity of the Niagara region and the peacefulness of relaxing by the pool.

I have stayed at the Pillar and Post more times than I can count over the past 10 years. We are local, and I was really looking forward to a staycation with my husband when the COVID restrictions were lifted and I could make a reservation. Pillar and Post was always the highest level of class and comfort and I thought it was a place I could trust. When we arrived we were told we had been "upgraded." We were excited as this 24 trip to to be alone for a short time (we have 3 kids and a grandmother who live in our house) and celebrate our birthdays and 5 year anniversary. When we arrived in the room it was a total disappointment. The couch was gross and old and belonged in the trash. The room was cold and uninviting and there was a huge electrical cord that went up the wall behind the bed. There was one nightstand and the entire room was bare. We received a text message from the hotel regarding our stay and we indicated that the room was disappointing. We received no response. We didn't go to the front desk and complain (as we heard others doing). We wanted to utilize our 24 hours being together. Dinner was excellent at the hotel restaurant (The Cannery), so that was a wonderful part of our stay, as well as our evening walk through the bustling main streets of Niagara on the Lake. We booked 80 minute massages for the afternoon the date of checkout as well. Our massages were amazing but the entire spa experience was cold, dark and uncomfortable. All the spa amenities we came to know and love were closed or taken and no effort was made to make the experience cozy or warm. When we checked out of the hotel we were asked how our stay was and we said the dinner was excellent but expressed our extreme disappointment with the room. The woman at checkout shrugged her shoulders. Both of us were unsure why she even asked, if that was her response. My advice to you (if you are still reading) is stay at a local Bed and Breakfast. There are so many beautiful ones on the main streets that offer you a cozy environment that is romantic and wonderful at a fraction of the cost. Go eat at the wineries (Ravine is amazing and always my favorite). Butler's is a great sports bar as well. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Pillar and Post, which is disappointing for me because I have beautiful memories there.

Always a great stay! They have taken great precautions to ensure guest safety over this time of covid19 and I was impressed. Keep it up and dont let up. Had a really tastey meal for dinner. Even better now that its outside by the pool. Something I hope they keep in one way or another. The Gardens are beautiful and we notice they are doing some new gardens that will accommodate weddings across the road. Looking forward to that when it opens. Rooms do need a little updating and the price seems to be getting steeper. Our package did include a 3 course meal and breakfast though. We love the location where we can set off on our bikes right from there down Niagara parkway. The spa is great but not open yet until things return back to normal. We did get to take socially distanced yoga class in the morning for free which I also hope they will continue. Staff was helpful and fairly friendly.

Stayed here for a night since my husband and I could not travel far for our anniversary. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming! They were setting up some Christmas decorations when we arrived so it had the holiday vibe. I love the Victorian vibes as well. They ensured to follow social distancing protocols- staff were wearing masks, hand sanitizers were available, and the hot tubs were closed but pools were open. We did a couples massage which was relaxing. We ate in the lounge for a late dinner and in the morning had breakfast at the Cannery. Food was delicious! Only gave a 4/5 because although we said it was our anniversary we did not feel like anything special was done- no greeting or card in our room, no upgrades was offered either. Overall though it was still a good experience and would come to visit again!

After reviewing a few hotel options in the area, we decided on the Pillar and Post Inn based on it's historically good reviews. Understanding that, booking fairly last minute and during high season, we would end up paying a premium for our stay in what they called the Premium King room. Unfortunately, the room and hotel were very underwhelming. It was clean but, it seriously needed an update and makeover. I have stayed at many hotels over the years, and felt the value for such a high rate did not meet expectations at all. Furthermore, the tidiness and service of the pool areas was poorly managed. Granted, like many other restaurants and hotels, staff resources have been stretched post pandemic but, better training for the staff in terms of efficiencies while keeping the pool area neat and clean could go a long way.
We also opted for the breakfast package but, the quality was truly not worth the money. Overall the hotel charges 5 start rates but, delivered 3 star quality and service. Upon checkout I spoke to the front desk to voice my concerns and to provide comments. They were apologetic and provided us a small discount to offset the rates. While I appreciate this and feel they handled the situation well, I believe the company needs to re-evaluate their rates and overall condition of the rooms.
Thank you.

Upon walking through the front doors, feelings of comfort and elegance washed over us. The enchanting corridors led us through the spa area and upstairs where we found our premium room. It was large and very well laid out. Full with a jetted tub and a hot fireplace, one could find full retreat with the room alone. Upon leaving the room, the full view of the warm indoor pool sent our minds planning for a dip! Our breakfast and dinner package was indeed money well spent. I have to say that the crab cakes, baby greens salad, prime rib, stuffed chicken, and pancakes were our absolute favorites! We can't wait to get back for more!

I only know about Breakfast no reservations required (dinner reservation is required re-open table) not sure of the hours we went each day at 8am fabulous breakfast buffet style.
BTW if you are on a package can go to any Vintage Hotel for Breakfast or Dinner, we were at INN ON THE TWENTY in September and had Dinner at the Pillar and Post, so you have options to try out other Vintage Hotels Restaurants
Hope that helps.

Yes, there are ground floor rooms with walking access to everything, including the pools.
Also, the outdoor pool and hot springs are open in winter (I think someone was asking about this)
It is a beautiful boutique hotel, and we had an amazing stay.
