A small hotel, across from the Festival Theatre. Nicely appointed rooms, with easy access to restaurants and the theatre. We found the taps in the bathroom - shower and vanity difficult to operate in order to get hot water. The bed was comfortable, but there was not the availability of feather pillows. Nice having a restaurant on site, (Zee's), for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The hotel is in a perfect location. The boutique style makes each guest feel at home. The front desk is always available in person or through their virtual concierge Ivy. The staff is warm and welcoming. We have stayed at this resort multiple times because of the exceptional service, comfort of bed and pillows, room size, in house bar, in house restaurant and the option to have their driver bring you to local restaurant or winery. It is a wonderful place to stay. The only thing missing this year were the delicious brownies!
Very friendly reception and restaurant staff. The food at Zees Grill was good. The wine list was also good at providing a selection of interesting local wines. The hotel itself needs a make over and was generally tired, and the website made it out to be more modern than it actually was.
Our two nights at the Shaw Club Hotel were very relaxing and stress-free. The service by all employees was top-notch. Our dinner at Zees was delicious as were our two breakfasts. The hotel is in a perfect location for shopping and walking. We will return.
We stayed here 11 years ago when we got engaged and thought we would give it another go for our anniversary.. we were disappointed. The service at check in was rushed. She cut us off when asking if we could have late checkout and was very abrupt. We appreciated the lovely touch of having a bottle of wine available for us as a complimentary anniversary gift. However, our room did disappoint. Our curtains were not able to be shut the whole way, exposing us to the walking traffic on the sidewalk. We managed to shove a small table against the window to get privacy and darkness for sleeping, but that was a bit of a challenge and shouldn’t have had to happen. The bed was not very comfortable- not like we remembered and what we have experienced at other similar properties in the area (harbour house). The bedding was nice and robes were OK quality but overall the pillows and the bed were disappointing. Unfortunately we will not rush back.…
We had relaxing, wonderful, eight day stay and loved everything about it. The Shaw Club is the perfect location in Old Town NOTL. The staff were efficient, pleasant and helpful. Our room was magnificent with an unexpected balcony. We will definitely stay there again.
This should be a 5 star review if it wasn't for the horrible reservation system "IVY ". IVY made us change rooms the second night of five, and tried to over charge us for the agreed amount prior to arriving. Front desk manager, Jennifer, worked hard with her team to make everything OK. Jennifer rates a 5+. We loved the hotel, but IVY made it so frustrating. Need to change systems.
This place is situated at the end of the main drag, so quiet. Our room was clean and comfortable with a great shower. My only observation would be that the Air con unit in the room is old and noisy and in need of servicing as has a mold build up. However everything else was great and we enjoyed our stay.
This hotel looks great in photos and is indeed averagely good - but with many lapses and inconsistencies. Food service is uneven and sometimes very slow. Front desk personnel are inconsistent in being helpful or not. Parking in the back is two level and inconvenient. There is no help in moving luggage and no daily room service. Rooms are quite small and dated. It is not particularly charming, though its town, Niagara on the Lake is extremely charming. It is not a great value and we would stay elsewhere next time.
As it turned out , I did not stay there. I had booked a non-refundable room. Unfortunately, when we arrived, all they had was a room up a steep flight of stairs. The Manager came out and agreed that I could not manage these arrangements, and went to considerable efforts to make alternative arrangements for us. Unfortunately, our room had been booked as non-refundable.. Just try to change this after check-in time. Enter Danielle Morrocco, who went through all kinds of hoo[s and loops to get us a full refund. The Quality of a resort starts at the Top. Because of Danielles professional intervention, be assured we will be back next year !
