Our group of two couples stayed at the Moffatt Inn for a one night stay chosen on its rate and location in NOTL as it is on the main street within walking distance of the core.

Parking was behind the hotel and there appeared to be plenty of spaces during a busier time.

Check in was fantastic with a host who explained the Inn's features in detail.

Our fireplace room was clean and although older, everything was in working order with nothing of concern.

The pub that is still advertised on the Vintage Hotel website is not open anymore but instead replaced with a sushi restaurant.

The morning was a bit disappointing as the lounge coffee was not hot. When I asked the attendant whether it was fresh or not, he replied yes so I explained the situation. He looked at it and realized the warming plate appeared to be off but we opted for the in room Keurig coffee instead.

At check out, the printer wasn't functional for my receipt but the attendant showed me the final charge on the computer.

Despite those minor inconveniences, we would consider staying here again.

My daughter and I stayed at Moffat Inn for 2 nights from Dec 24-26.

The good part. We had a lovely room with two double beds and a nice view. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows (there were four on each bed plus two cushions) were just as comfy.

Now, the bad. Upon check-in, my daughter's credit card was double charged. There was no bottled water in the fridge so I called the front dest. Phone in the room did not work so I had to call the front desk using my cell phone. Front desk informed me that it must be one of the busted phones but never offered to fix it. I asked if they could send me bottled water. He replied that they don't do that and I should go down and get one from the restaurant below or buy from one of the convenience stores. Again, I asked "what about a pitcher of water" He replied that they used to do that before but they no longer do it. So my daughter and I went to get bottled water ourselves. It was upon our return that they decided to provide us with two bottled water. A bottled water that cost $1.97 a case in most grocery stores will go a long towards good customer service considering the price per night stay in this inn.

The coffee dispenser was dusty and dirty. I wiped it clean myself but, as expected, the coffee tasted horrible . It probably was never cleaned with a descaling agent. I also had to call the front desk (again, using my cell phone) because they failed to provide cream in sugar.

We stayed two nights and yet, we were provided one itty bitty soap not enough for one let alone two people.

The ice dispenser and vending machine were not working either.

Nice location, good room but will I come back, the answer is no. For the type of service and accommodation, it is overpriced. Staff nonchalant attitude reflect very poor customer service. For those with health challenges like bad knees, this inn is not for you because it has no elevator and the stairs are steep.

They did credit my daughter $50 on check-out for the inconvenience of being charged twice. According to my daughter, their way of apology, from their facial expression and demeanour sounded hollow and insincere that my daughter commented, "they would have been better off not apologizing."

In the autumn of 2023, we found the foyer and halls of this historic hostelry in the course of (well overdue) refurbishment, but the rooms nicely spruced up – hence presumably the widely mixed reviews during the transition. The location couldn't be better for the Shaw Festival theatres, shopping streets and restaurants of the town, all within easy walking distance. We also soon appreciated the parking lot, seeing the competition for space elsewhere.

Even facing the main drag, with the windows open, the room was wonderfully quiet. We could only have done with fewer of that plague of modern interior design, the overstuffed throw pillow, and a full-length mirror, but the refurb wasn't finished so that may be yet to come.

The staff were all very friendly and obliging, and certainly encouraged us to come again.

My husband and I did not make reservations as we stumbled upon the Moffat Inn driving through Niagara-on-the-Lake when the crazy weather decided to dump some snow. We decided to spend the night somewhere and get off the roads. The gentleman at the front was lovely and we checked in promptly. He informed me about the services next door at The Prince of Wales hotel and gave us a couple beverage vouchers to use! Needless to say I called and got a couples massage and enjoyed their pool/spa and lounge that snowy afternoon! Once we got back to our room turned the fireplace on and snuggled into our clean comfy bed it was lights out crash sleep! Thank you for a lovely stay!

We were looking forward to celebrating our anniversary by returning to Canada after a 3-year Covid hiatus. We had stayed at other Vintage Hotels before and decided to try something new: the Moffat Inn.

The gentleman at the front desk was fabulous; so friendly, pleasant and helpful.

He was, it turned out, a diamond in the rough.

This place needs an updating, pronto!

We paid $360. for room #297 which was listed as a penthouse suite.

What we found were stained rugs, dated furniture, peeling wallpaper, a smell of dogs and overall unsatisfactory accommodations.

Fortunately, after speaking with the manager at the sister hotel next store we were able to switch to the Prince of Wales.

The manager there was understanding and accommodating, and our Anniversary escape was salvaged! My recommendation: Go to the Prince of Wales. It is wonderful! Staff is amazing. Room was exceptional.

Why this Inn has been neglected is anyone's guess but note to management: Please, for the sake of your guests, spend some money on capital improvements! Needs:
Carpet
Paint
Wallpaper
Polished furniture

Keep the man at the check in desk. He is your only asset at this point.

The website promises "casual and cottage chic" comfort with all rooms "redecorated in 2011". In reality, any chain motel would offer more comfort. We found all the wallpaper was peeling, the bed headboard was stained, and the AC was not working. Maintenance could not fix the problem. Only a 2 square foot part of the window can be opened for aeration, so the room was very warm. The following day they reimbursed 50 dollars of the room cost, which was a nice gesture. Still, not worth the price by a long stretch. They state they are renovating the rooms so perhaps the experience will improve in the future.

We stayed at the Moffat Inn for 3 nights. Upon arrival we were greeted at the front desk, checked in and received our key.
Our room was on the second floor, which was fine for us, but anyone with mobility issues may find booking on the first floor is best.
Our room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated in keeping with the Vintage Hotel vibe. The bathroom was roomy, though a bit worn looking, but had everything you need including some toiletries, and a hair dryer.
We had two double beds as well as a pullout couch in the sitting area, that also had a comfy arm chair.
Overall we were very pleased with the room. It was quiet at night, which was great for sleeping, and the beds were comfortable, though I would have preferred a firmer mattress.
The room provides a coffee maker with coffee pods, tea, powdered creamer and sugars. There was a mini fridge in the room too which would be very handy.
The Moffat is located on the main street , a pleasant stroll to restaurants, shops and theatres.
The Moffat also offers free parking in back, which we found very convenient.
I would stay at the Moffat Inn again when in NOTL.

My wife has some mobility and when we arrived the lady at the front noticed this and without me asking, right away changed our booked room to a room on the main floor. CHAPEAU!!!
The room was perfect and the little balcony was a bonus to have a glass of wine after the theatre.
Well recommended and we'll be back next May.

Having stayed here happily in the past, we obviously arrived at a bad time as construction was going on. The public hallways and lobby were a mess. I understand that construction brings in dirt particles, but this was quite nasty. The room was clean and nicely decorated but very tiny for a "deluxe" room. The promised fireplace was turned off for the summer. We had to request replacement of soap, shampoo, coffee, etc. The mattress cover and the duvet had large lumps of padding and were not flat. No desk...had to use bed for computer. No tea available in room. Loved the location, free parking, the personnel, the bathtub, refrigerator, and the outside porch. Hopefully this stay was just an aberration, and the Moffatt will impress again in the future.

We had a wonderful ladies getaway on Canada Day, my 3 friends and I. Booked a wine tour with our booking at the Moffat Inn. I highly recommend this. Gary, who was our wine tour guide was kind, friendly, informative, and gave us some tips like the Pillar and Post garden, and the location and time of the fireworks. Gave us a mini historical tour of the neighborhood/community. The wineries and the host/hostess were wonderful and charming. It was a relaxing, did not feel rushed at all, enough time spent at the wineries. Our room was comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed the balcony at night for the firework display and morning coffee. Good restaurants and shops within leisurely and scenic strolling distance. Shoutout to Christina at front desk, Ivy at concierge and Inn staff for courteous service excellence.
