This B&B is absolutely lovely. The innkeeper could not have been kinder or more responsive. The breakfasts were just the right amount of food and presented in a darling manner. She even offered lattes in the morning. The location could not have been better, just a block away from the main street of shops. 100% recommend as a lovely and affordable alternative to some of the pricey B&B's in NOTL.

Property's Favourite Review
I never write 5 star reviews but this property deserves the rating. An absolutely beautiful property with outstanding accommodations and walking distance to restaurants and shops in the downtown area. Parking on site is also a real plus and our hosts, Carrie and her husband did everything possible to make our stay wonderful. BTW the continental breakfast isn't really continental, its far more than that. Carrie puts her own unique touch on the breakfast offerings. We felt very comfortable and welcomed here. Check it out.

This is a gem, we love it and come back every year. The location is ideal, just steps away from the theater, shopping, restaurants and the lake. Very clean, with air purifier and Dyson fan in eachroom.Temprature is always right, breakfast is delicious, the owners are so nice, very accommodating always taking care of us.I highly recommend this beautiful B&B. The grounds are beautiful, nice gazebo for the summer and fall. Truly walking distance to everything.

This B & B is our favorite to date. It's immaculate, beautiful and quiet - and on a quiet street, just one block off Queen Street, i.e., numerous shops and restaurants. Bed / room / bath very comfortable. We stayed in the Secretary's Suite - first floor, front. Lovely. The Hosts are very accommodating. Breakfast was delightful every day. We would DEFINITELY stay here again when in the area.

This is our second trip to the School House with the new owners. It was great. The location is close to town, one street back from the main street and 4 houses from the Irish Pub and a block from the Shaw Theatre. You can walk to the shops, the theatre and to dinner. The rooms are large and the breakfasts and chocolate chip cookies are awesome. Carrie is so sweet. I asked for a softer pillow and she brought it to my room right away. There is a great gazebo next to the house, great for relaxing and for enjoying one of your treasures from your day of tastings. If you like your morning walk, this is a walkable neighborhood, the homes are beautiful.

I cannot express how much I enjoyed my stay at Schoolhouse1859 in Niagara-on-the-lake. What a beautiful establishment run by amazing hosts Carrie and Pete. I was made to feel welcome and valued from the moment I arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful and well appointed room with all the luxuries needed plus some lovely little personal touches. Breakfast was amazing and the hosts took time out to talk and recommend things to do in the area. I loved the food on offer which they clearly took pride in. More than enough to set me up for the days exploring. I’ll definitely return. It will feel like visiting old friends. Thank you!

My best friend and I stayed here a few weeks ago to celebrate our milestone birthdays. It was a three-night stay and my friend found this place online at the last minute. Boy, am I glad she did! We loved everything about the Old School House! The B&B was clean and beautiful. The ambiance was welcoming and the decor was gorgeous. There were pictures tastefully displayed around the B&B of the original school house and it was a treat to feel the sense of history in each room. Our room (Housemaster suite) was spectacular! It was fabulous to have such high ceilings and a separate living room with a sofa so we could relax and unwind with a movie after being out all day. The soaps and lotions in the bathroom were spa-like, natural, and locally made and were very much appreciated. The bed was super comfortable and we slept soundly. Everything in the B&B was thoughtful and well-appointed, from the knife and cutting board in our room that made sharing treats easy, to the coasters they provided on the coffee table and side table. The location is perfect too. It's on a quiet street (which is great for sleeping) but is only one block up and over from Queen Street - where all the shopping is. Best of all was Carrie - our host. She was so lovely and made us feel instantly at home. Anytime we had a question or if we needed anything, she was extremely helpful and quick to reply. And the breakfasts - oh my! It was like having high tea at the Chateau Laurier every morning. I couldn't have imagined a better stay and if I'm ever in the area again, I won't even consider looking at staying anywhere else. Loved it!

I would like to thank Carrie and her family for a lovely relaxing few nights in Niagarq on the Lake and letting us stay in her wonderful home...we ate British and she had another British couple staying but she made sure we were well stocked up with tea!!! An important feature where we are from! She made us feel so at home and we didn't feel like we were staying in her home... Carrie really paid attention to detail. Such as the extra tea. Also such touches as really good coffee, dressing gowns in the wardrobe , Netflix on the TV and fresh drinks in our fridge. The breakfast was wonderful with Carrie making the Baker goods...amazing scones and cake BTW.. although obviously not as good as my Mams lol. Only niggle was that our room was actually quite cold. Although we had instructions on how to work the fire and low water pressure in the bathroom... which was laden with amazing local products!!! Another plus. Thank you Carrie we maybe will be back again. It was a lovely stay

My best friend and I stayed here for 3 nights. Carrie (the owner) was absolutely wonderful - so sweet and accommodating. They have considered all details and have an absolute gem on their hands. This historic BNB (school house turned BNB) is lovingly maintained and is stunning. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The continental breakfast is Instagram worthy. The location is perfect - it’s on a quiet street only 1 block (a short walk) to Queen st (which is the historic shopping districts Main Street) and contains lovely shops, restaurants and bakeries. Without doubt this is THE place to stay if you are looking for a quiet, restful “home base” while visiting NOTL.

From the moment we met Kerry, our stay here was fantastic, warm and welcoming. There are about 5 or 6 rooms. We stayed in the captain’s room (blue one). It was very spacious with a decent shower and comfy bed on the mezzanine floor. The stairs to the bed may be a bit awkward for the elderly or immobile but no problem for anyone else. The breakfast was served on a silver-tiered platter and was lovingly presented. The food was not your typical North American breakfast fare, so was a welcome change for the health conscious person (scrambled egg/bacon, croissant, fruit bowl, banana bread). Although we had to leave before breakfast on the day of our flight, Kerry created a tasty breakfast to go. Also there were complimentary sodas, tea and coffee available. Close proximity to the Main Street made this a good choice. No problem parking the car to explore the town, if you arrive earlier than check-in time. First class outfit.
