The team at The Finch provide deep hospitality. The beach cottage that my family and I stayed at over a sunny hot week in May provided pristine soft beds, a kitchen big enough to cook a feast in (which we did) and sliding doors onto a second outdoor living room that leads to a beautiful sand beach and the unequalled sunsets of Nbissing (Lake Nipissing).
The place was advertised as evoking both southern California style and 1950s road trips and somehow succeeded in both without compromising the very Northern Ontario character of the whole thing? Honestly I'm not sure how. Original art from local artists paired with VERY cool interior design without making me feel like my kids had to tip toe around anything. New or at least new looking washer/ dryers were provided which helped me relax (mostly) about the spotless white linens.
There's a public park a very short paddle or shore walk away that will feel like a daring adventure to smaller children and give older ones an escape from family togetherness. Kayak, canoe, and life vests provided. GREAT restaurants in walking distance and easy (thought not very beautiful in the first bit) access to a paved biking path through woods that goes all the way to the Cranberry Trail in nearby Callander in one direction and North Bay beaches and play parks in the other.
There's other great stuff but I'm worried I sound unhinged already. I just love skill. This place is skill + beauty and it shows off everything that's easy to miss but precious and unique about a part of the world I love very much. Obviously highly reccomend.

I stayed with my sister and niece for a couple days at the beginning of June. We had amazing warm weather (no rain) for the whole trip. Direct access to a sandy beach on Lake Nipissing was lovely. Water was incredibly warm by end of the day and my niece loved how shallow it was. You could walk for ages before the water got deep.
We stayed in Cottage 3 (which was still under renovations) however was already well designed. What my sister described as Mid-Century Modern for all those decorating/design people. We loved the BBQ where we cooked all our meals but also has a stove if you would rather stay inside. Each cottage is equipped with a BBQ on a small covered deck with a few chairs on top of a fully stocked kitchen. Lots of choices if you choose to cook your own meals.
The check in process is very easy, contactless and hassle free.
Has all the amenities of home as well as being right near restaurants, groceries stores, parks, cinema, shopping, everything you could possibly need.
The only thing I will mention is that parking is tight. I was fine with my small SUV but with a large truck that needs a wider turning radius might have trouble getting into the parking spaces for cottages 3 or 4. There is street parking available, on a quiet residential street, if you cannot manage to park.
My grandparents have decided to book an entire week at the resort later in the summer after I would not stop talking about it. This is definitely a place I would like to come back to over and over.
Thank you Holly and co. for a wonderful relaxing stay!

One of the most thoughtfully designed places I’ve ever stayed at. The fully detached cabins are a haven for anyone still taking airborne illness precautions, as my family does. The design is a great mix of retro and modern-beach house complete with record player and records. The beach is stunning and lake Nipissing never disappoints. Beds were very comfortable, a great refuge after roasting marshmallows on the beach

Cottage was exactly as described, great location with all the amenities that you might need.
Unfortunately, we had to depart early due to an emergency but we would not hesitate to stay again.
Communication was great, entry into the cottage was super easy and the outdoor light was left on for our arrival after dark.

We loved staying in the birdie cottage, it felt cozy, clean and had everything needed. The beds were incredibly comfortable and with the sound of the lake, we slept incredibly.
With the beach front, kayaks, new sauna and game room we all had plenty of ways to spend our time. With a very easy check-in process, I would highly recommend staying by here.
A 6 min drive to downtown, it was the perfect distance away for some R&R.

The 3 bedroom cottage was a perfect size for 5 adults and a dog. Beds were very comfortable after long days of local hikes. Definitely a bonus having the beach only steps away and being able to walk out 100 feet and water was only up to our knees. Great that kayaks were available to use. Perfect sunsets, as you look directly west , while sitting on the beach deck chairs.

My very first grandson was born, and I brought my 80 year old mother to meet him! To honour their space at home and to get them acclimated we chose to book at the finch .we were not disappointed . My mum, who is a tough customer was very impressed and most comfortable . Clean, well appointed, and a nicely stocked kitchen. Everything was on hand for us to make a meal. A big plus for us was the finch is DOG FRIENDLY. 2 labs who loved their morning walks on the beach…and Linds the manager was available by phone with any questions I had, (a fellow dog lover herself) about other places I could hike them .
A most pleasant stay. I am already spreading the word !
Thank you so much for being a part of our families growth. It is such a precious time for us .

Cottage was warm and welcoming! Very clean, and well stocked with linens, kitchen accessories etc. The view is amazing and being able to walk directly out to the frozen lake was such a fun adventure. The queen bed was very comfortable. Gas fireplace was cozy and warming. Enjoyed some fun tunes on the record player while I worked. Was thrilled to find such a great spot that also welcomed pets. Owners were responsive by text and check-in/check-out was smooth. My only regret is that I didn't have time to enjoy the on-site sauna.

I took my girlfriend to The Finch for the weekend of her birthday and it was a dream! We arrived late on a Friday and were able to throw some hot dogs on the BBQ and have a cozy night by the fire watching TV. The next day was rainy so our plans of exploring the outdoors had to shift and we enjoyed the space and made a big lunch. It was great to be able to grill on the covered front patio and relax on the comfy couch. We also took a glass workshop nearby at Incandescence Glass Studio in Callander so that was a nice activity close to the Finch. That night, we took a quick walk over to Churchill's and had a phenomenal meal! The trip was lovely and The Finch is located in a really convenient spot in North Bay which makes it easy to do pretty much anything. We had a blast and will absolutely be visiting again. Next time we're going to try and get out on the kayaks!

Beautifully decorated, clean cottages with comfy beds! (Stayed in the larger beach front cottage as well as the May fly). Thank u for attention to detail and providing all the amenities such as shampoo, coffee and popcorn ect, felt pampered and cared for. Also enjoyed visiting the cute gift/consignment shop, candy store and chip stand across the street, lovely location!
