Detailed Reviews
The parking is free and close. The rooms were comfortable, quiet, and clean. The WIFI was good. No microwave nor TV nor coffee maker. The two drinking glasses were the lowest grade. There is a stove with an oven but bring your own pots, dishes , dish soap and dish cloths.

Summer season access to college residence rooms at a great price. Two large bedrooms, big kitchen and washroom, quiet, safe secure part of town, free parking, it was all great. Easy check-in at main building, comfy beds, desks and lightning fast internet here. By the way, if you have been on the road for a while, there was a large clean coin laundry facility on the ground floor.

This is the Canadore College Residence which rent out during the summer holidays. My unit got 4 individual bedrooms & 2 bathrooms, all well managed, clean & with all-u-need supplies of toiletries. The best of all is we r paying a very minimal price for this 1 night stay. Would definitely recommend this Residence to my friends!

I paid via PayPal Hotels.com in April. When I checked in on 06 AUG I provided my credit card as is the usual practice upon check in. I was charged again. I contacted Ryan on 08 AUG who indicated he would get back to me. He never did. I have left messages since but no one has ever answered the phone again.

We had a 2 bedroom 'apartment' and overall we had a positive experience. We were expecting basic, no-frills accommodations and that's exactly we got. There were no decorations or accessories (ie/ no couches, no artwork, no lamps, no kitchen supplies, no clocks, etc.). The rate per night was about half the price of a nearby hotel, so it made for a great place to stop on the way to our destination. It is located close to the highway and it was impeccably clean and very quiet. The beds were small but surprisingly very comfortable. The bathroom towels weren't up to hotel standards but were sufficient. I would highly recommend it as an affordable option if you just need a place to stay the night.

On a recent visit to North Bay, my wife and I and her mother took a four-bedroom suite at Canadore College Residences and Conference Centre. Normally when the three of us travel we have to take two rooms; had we done so at the North Bay hotel belonging to the chain that we usually patronize, it would have cost us $155 per room plus tax for two rooms for three nights: $930 CAD; and the tax would have taken it over $1000. Our suite at Canadore College cost us $85 per night plus tax, so $288 CAD in total for all three nights, including tax. That’s like a 70% off clearance sale!
So what did we get for our money? The suite – nearly 1200 square feet – consisted of a large living room that had a kitchenette (stove and fridge, no microwave) at one end, plus four single bedrooms – two on each end of the suite – and two baths. The building has 34 such suites, and a different building has rooms and two-bedroom suites with double beds, which we did not investigate. The furnishings were utilitarian in style, but clean, sturdy, and comfortable. The beds were all twin beds, very comfortable to sleep in, and each bedroom had a desk and its own wired LAN connection. The hotel will lend you a cable if you need it. Wifi was available free in the public areas of the hotel. The baths were medium size, and both had tub and shower. The rooms were bright, with big windows; there was an LCD TV in the living room, along with a small table, some chairs, and a sofa. There were no dishes or utensils, not even a spoon, so cooking was out of the question, unless we had brought our own. Next time, because we drive to North Bay, we will bring a few kitchen items along.
A “continental” – i.e., carbohydrate – breakfast was included: croissants, bran muffins, four kinds of bagels, two kinds of bread, with butter and cream cheese, jam, honey, and peanut butter. The hot cereal was packages of instant oatmeal to mix with hot water, and there were five kinds of cold cereals, plus coffee, tea, and juice. No fruit, no eggs, no pancakes or waffles. It was not a wonderful breakfast, but then if you skipped it, it wasn’t costing you much, so you could go elsewhere for your French toast and bacon without feeling that you were really paying double for the meal.
The staff were uniformly friendly, and very helpful (within the limitations of what they could do), and they helped us with local information. One thing the residence could have done -- at practically no cost, to boot – would have been to provide a list of channels on the TV, especially since neither the “info” nor the “guide” button worked on the remote control. When I asked at the desk about the channels, the clerk said they had only “basic TV,” and then looked up the channels for me on the internet. Alas, the channels he found did not correspond to the ones on our TV, hence my recommendation for a list. Since there were only about 50 channels available, that could easily be a single-page item.
The location of the residence is practically right across the road from the North Bay Regional Health Centre, so if you are visiting someone in the hospital, it is a great place to stay.
The bottom line: This is an incredible value for up to four people.

Hello, Wow! Thank you so much for leaving such detailed and wonderful comments. You are thorough, well-informed, and extremely observant. It is a pleasure to see you found our suites clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. As you mentioned the location does also present great opportunity for anyone visiting the hospital and is close to other amenities as well. I had not considered the channel list but what a fantastic idea! We will certainly put that together for our guests to access as it makes absolute sense. I do hope to welcome you back to our property in the future. Please feel free to ask our front desk staff for a tour of the 2 bedroom suites if you are interested in taking a peek in order to compare. All my best, Dijana

We were four guys traveling to the "great white north" for a week of fishing, drinking, and pigging out, and needed a place to stay overnight. Found this hotel on TripAdvisor, and was very intrigued. Four bedrooms for $64! For real? YES! What it is, is a dorm building on a college campus in North Bay, Ontario. They rent out the units as hotel rooms in the summer. We each had our own room. Two bathrooms in the unit, each fully stocked with soaps and shampoo.
Continental breakfast is included in the price. I don't know if it is always as well stocked as it was the week we stayed, because there were athletes staying when we did, so there was a big meat tray, eggs, breads, fruits, etc. but it was great.
The bed was a little hard for my liking, but we all slept well. Next year I will take my sleeping bag in with me to use as a sleeping pad.
I go to Canada to fish every year, but this was my first stay here. It won't be my last!

This is not a hotel. It is a dorm. They need to advertise it as such when you book through expedia. There is no living space within the room, just 2 bedrooms with the world's smallest TV in each. There was a disgusting smell festering from the bathroom that wouldn't go away, and there were loud noises coming from the building itself on and off all night. After checking in, once I got to my room, I called to see if I can get a refund and book in with an actual hotel, they have a no refund policy regardless of their misleading advertising. They didnt even offer to change rooms for the smell coming from the bathroom. The smell was so bad we refused to use it. We used the kitchen sink to brush our teeth even.

This is a college residence.
When you walk in you are in the kitchen/dining area. Off to the side is a bathroom, no tub, just a shower.
The two bedrooms are on the other side of the kitchen/bathroom.
The beds are very comfortable and we had a great sleep.
The kitchen has a stove and a fridge but no microwave, pots, pans, utensils, etc.
I thought that we would have to pay the $70 fee for each couple but the $70 fee covered both couples!! A very pleasant surprise.
Young lady at the check-in counter was very pleasant and extremely helpful.
We had a very good night's sleep in very pleasant and clean accommodations. Unbelievable value!!

What a wonderful place, at a very reasonable price. Even through a full breakfast was not included, the main building (#15) from 7-11 am, offers coffee or tea with a basket selection of fresh bananas, oranges, apples along with a choice of fruit bars, just enough to get you started for the day. If you don’t want this, the room also has a kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, sink that you could make your own meal, if you didn’t want to go out - (note: pots / pans / dishes / cutlery are not supplied), but we usually travel with foam plates, and cutlery anyway if needed, and the front desk, mentioned that you could sign out some pots if needed. Also there is no micro wave except for the one in the main building that you can use. You have to remember this is a College Residence so many of the items are actually supplied by the students, therefore will not be there for summer holiday rentals / vacationers. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious, consisting of 2 bedrooms with a television, desk, chair, double size bed in each room. The bathroom was large, with a good size shower. We enjoyed our stay here, that we have rebooked another stay in August. The only item that I would recommend to bring, is a small kettle with you to make your own coffee / tea / hot chocolate or even porridge especially if you are a coffee or tea drinker. Both Rachel’s at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful, I am very pleased that we found this facility, and would recommend. Note: it was also terrific to have such fast, easy to connect to Wifi - Internet
-bath / hand towels, and face cloths along with a shower mat are supplied, with even a travel size hair shampoo, conditioner, lotion and a couple bars of soap sitting on the countertop. (This report is for building # 19)
