We stayed here as a couple on vacation for the weekend. The hotel's location is excellent, just steps away from Byward Market, the Rideau Canal, and Parliament Hill. The service was also amazing. We got a room upgrade on arrival and were able to have complimentary late check-out. For the price, our room was large and had a nice view overlooking the city skyline. The room was tastefully decorated. The shower and toilet were in separate enclosures, and there was a good-quality Bluetooth speaker in the room. It felt like five-star service as our room and bed were made twice, including once before bedtime. This hotel has a boutique feel and was always quiet whenever we came and went; it is less chaotic than other nearby hotels like DoubleTree Hilton or Westin. We would stay here again the next time we come back to Ottawa.

5/5 nicely appointed room, nice touch with music upon entry. Subtle and minimalist finishings. Radio playing jazz upon entry made it welcoming and homey.

We stayed here for 2 nights Aug long weekend. Been here several times for visits to Ottawa. Attentive and friendly greeting by staff who valeted car. Porter help to room which had one king and sofa. Lots of room and overlooked south over gallery terrace, 10th floor.

We were given accessible room which was not requested, but suited just fine. Actually, it was nice to have the seat in the shower and just be able to walk into shower without having to climb over. Bathroom had fabric curtain and nice wide doors.

Nice touches with LED lights which add mood lighting to room. Also enjoy the adjustable reading light bedside.

Had breakfast buffet at Norca.

It was Delicious and had a fresh, tasty selection of hot foods- eggs, French toast, bacon, eggs, pastries, cookies, cereals, charcuterie, fruit, yogurts and condiments. First time trying it and highly recommend when visiting. I believe it was $25 plus tax and well worth it! It was just the right size nothing too big that you know everything was fresh and carefully put out and attended to by staff. Tasty drip coffee which was a bonus to start my morning. Recommend this before starting the day.

Sat by the window in elegant modern furnishings. A nice, calming, classy space. Will try the happy hour and dinner at norca on our next visit!

Great location close to everything. Attentive and attentive staff. We took the valet and breakfast package included and in the evening we had booked for the meal on December 31. Fantastic and delicious with the food/wine pairing ... less fan of breakfast ... I think it lacked staff so 30 minutes waiting for our eggs Benedictine and plates arrived cold ... pity!!! luckily the coffee was hot ... I still recommend this hotel and we return with pleasure.

The hotel itself is very nice. Rooms are stylish and clean. The location is perfect. We weren’t pleased with the service though. Let’s start from their breakfast. They still serve you with a paper bag cold breakfast that includes a croissant, a juice box and a fruit for $17. At least that’s what they told us at the reception. Of course we didn’t take it. Their room service starts working only after 5pm. Housekeeping ends working very early so if you need anything it becomes a problem. I am a hot sleeper and hate warm heavy blankets. Usually in good hotels they always have a light blanket and spear bedsheets and pillows in the room. We didn’t find a spear blanket so we called the reception. The receptionist told us that the housekeeping ended working already (it was 7:30pm) and it will take him lots of effort and time to help us. In about 1.5 hours somebody knocked on our door and brought us a bedsheet. We explained that we need another blanket and he told us that we already have one on our bed. He started asking us why we need another blanket if we already have one and telling us that all blankets are in the room. The conversation lead nowhere and he told us that even if we’ll call back to the reception the reception will call him again. Long story short I ended up burning under their super warm down duvet even though we lowered the room temperature to 17. I travel a lot and stay in hotels all the time. It wouldn’t say that it was a terrible experience but I would recommend the hotel management to up their service level.

It's been over a year since the whole family started pandemic sheltering. We decided to venture out after seeing Ottawa's COVID number was really low. We picked this hotel based on its brand reputation elsewhere. The building is actually a mixed use condominium & hotel. We loved our room with the two queen beds. It was very spacious. The standalone tub was a nice feature but I had to tighten its handheld shower wand as it was loose and leaking onto the floor. The automatic window blinds did not completely darken the room as other reviewers had pointed out. It only dimmed the room a lot. Perhaps the hotel could offer complimentary sleep masks to those who needed a very dark room. We didn't need that anyway with two kids who woke up early. The kids eventually discovered the gap in the door jamb which allowed them to peek through into the washroom. It was kind of funny. Sleep was restful in any case. The self parking with in-out privilege was great. We had no issue finding a spot but we went in the middle of the week. Just so others know, at this time, room cleaning was not automatically done for guests staying two nights or more. Location was excellent. Rideau Centre was just behind us and we could have walked to many other places. Checking out was as easy as leaving the room keys in the room since we were going directly to the parking lot. Otherwise, you'll need your keys to activate the elevator. We dropped off our room keys at the front desk after pulling out our car first. Our final total for a family of four, two nights, no minibar items, and a dinner at the hotel's restaurant came to just over $1200.

Good day mickroon, Thank you for taking the time to share feedback of your recent stay with us. It is crucial that we receive this from our Guests as we do strive to offer the best stay possible. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the spacious design of your room, though we are sorry to hear that there were a couple of hiccups that prevented us from exceeding your expectations. We will certainly review your comments regarding the handheld shower and the blinds in your room, the Prestige with Two Queen Beds. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back to Le Germain Ottawa the next time you are planning a visit to the city, and we hope it will be a 5 star experience! We booked this hotel for a one night staycation. They have an Ottawa resident rate, which made the price a little more reasonable.

We stayed in the Prestige King room because of the oversized bathtub, and really enjoyed our room. It was a nice touch that they included bath salts.

We also ordered room service, and the food was brought up to us quickly! I recommend the Charcuterie board, it was decent value for the money and quite tasty. We also ordered the Norca salad and a side of French fries to round out the meal, and it was plenty of food for two people for a light dinner. They did forget to provide us with utensils, but we called down and they brought them up straightaway.

All the staff we interacted were pleasant and professional.

It would have been nice if more towels had been supplied (we got one towel per person, which is technically enough but sometimes it's nice to have an extra towel for your hair... I'm sure we could have asked for more), and the rooms seemed to be on very short supply of hooks, so you could hang up the bathrobes or the towels, but not both. One of the slightly annoying things is that the mini-bar is full of things for purchase (expensively), but has no room for you to store your own items. It wasn't a huge deal for us, but if you had leftovers from a dinner out or brought your own snacks (for kids or diabetics) or had medication that you wanted to keep cool there's basically no space.

All in all, we enjoyed our room and the amenities, and it was exactly what we needed for an indulgent overnight getaway.

The location is central and this hotel is in a good location for people visiting from out of town: walking distance to the Byward Market, the downtown museums and galleries, Parliament, some nice local parks (where things like the Jazz Festival are held), and Elgin Street (for more restaurants).

Very comfortable,very chic, conveniently
located deluxe hotel in the national capital. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. I come to Ottawa often but this was the first time at this hotel , and I will likely stay here again next time. My only complaint is that I forgot to pack a toothbrush and the hotel didn’t have a complimentary one for me. They also do not provide bottled water in the room which is a little annoying given the price of the room. All in all though , fantastic hotel

Hello Richard, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review, we receive any and all feedback from our guests with enthusiasm, as it helps us understand what we can do better. We try to always have dental kits available for our guests, I apologize if we couldn't provide one for you, furthermore, part of being a more environment friendly hotel, we have removed all single use plastic bottle from the room - instead we have provided our guests with a carafe and cup in the rooms. The mentioned carafe can be filled out in the foyer of each guestroom floor with mineral water. By practising this endeavour, reduces our carbon footprint as an organisation. However, we do understand the reality that sometimes we need a water bottle to take it with us, that's why we do have complimentary water bottles available upon request at the front desk to take it with you! I hope this information helps you enjoy our hotel and its facilities better. We look forward to welcoming you back. Thanks, Kunwar.

I was very disappointed in the room. I booked the room for my husband and myself for two nights. We ran out of toilet paper on the second night! It's only two nights and it is not unreasonable to expect enough toilet paper for the stay. There was also only one robe in the room. It was promoted with comfy robes but then they didn't even include one for each of us. The small fridge with mini bar was stocked so we could not fit anything that we brought to the room in the fridge. We didn't use anything from the minibar but we were charged $18!!

Hello Ms. Julie, Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with your feedback upon departure as well as here. Your feedback is truly invaluable to us, as it helps us improve and ensure that every guest enjoys a comfortable and delightful experience. We have taken all your comments in note and will ensure that there are enough supplies for multiple night stays. Our housekeeping team ensures that we replenish all supplies in the daily cleaning service, however, during your stay you had the Do Not Disturb light turned on. Our Front desk team is also available for any requests as well if you need anything during your stay. As discussed over the phone this morning, we have refunded the wrong minibar charge as well. I still remain disappointed that we were unable to offer you the 4-star hotel service and the unique and personalized experience we want all our guests to live. I am not sure if you are planning a return visit to Ottawa anytime soon. However I would like to extend my personal assistance the next time you are planning to return to our city. Happy holidays, Kunwar Mittu kmittu@germainhotels.com 613 961 3230

Real focus on customer service- complete opposite of our experience at fairmont York in Toronto for example. Feels a more personalised smaller hotel. Well appointed rooms. Small breakfast buffet but inexpensive. Note that parking is refunded if you eat in the restaurant- arrange this with reception. Otherwise parking is $59 a day. Rooms were modern- two minor flaws were ‘see through’ glass showers and ill fitting blinds meaning light comes in at night.

We were upgraded to room with bath by the lovely reception staff at no additional cost. Well located.

I had a nice stay here while in Ottawa, a city where good hotel offerings seem to be very limited. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating (Emma, Malok and Azita were great) and the room itself was very large and modern. I didn't know of this chain... it seems to be solid without a lot of frills. There were a few issues with the HVAC... which the staff promptly took care of. The bed was okay if not amazing. The lighting is confusing, and the controls for the blinds were downright baffling. I had to call down to figure them out. Breakfast in the restaurant was a little spartan. However, the can-do spirit of the staff and their genuine niceness made up for everything. This hotel is within easy walking distance to Parliament, though our view of it was pretty obscured by other less attractive buildings. The immediate neighborhood was not my favorite... the main shopping street a block away was surprisingly hardcore and I live in LA. What's nice about the location, however, is there's a huge mall basically right across the street with an excellent basement supermarket and drugstore. This place was just fine for my one night in Ottawa, which is all the time I needed to see the sites.
