Got my diamond membership at this hotel and will never stay again. Everything has gone down hill. Would avoid for about 6 months or so until they change management. There are better value for money hotels in Ottawa.
My husband and I, my brother and sister in law just spent 5 days at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Ottawa sightseeing. The hotel is located NW of Parliment Hill but close enough to walk everywhere. We are a 50+ something group and we walked every day to Parliment Hill, Rideau Locks, Byward Market, the Canadian War Museum etc. The hotel is clean and bright, the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Shelby at the front desk, she helped us with questions several times. Shelby always had a smile a kind word and the information we were looking for. The beds were very comfortable, we each had a king river view room, they were clean and had everything we needed, coffee maker, microwave and fridge. Our fridge broke the first day and they brought us another right away. The showers were walk in showers without a tub and were roomy and clean. We ate at the hotel restaurant Tulip a couple of times and the meals were delicious. We would highly recommend this hotel for it's convenience and comfort.…
Nice hotel with lots of space in the room - comfortable bed. The restaurant/bar downstairs was perfect for meeting with colleagues. Breakfast downstairs was free and better quality than your normal “free breakfast” Best part of hotel was true walking distance to parliment in under 10mins. Close to other restaurants and pubs as well. It’s on the other end of the downtown area, a little farther away than some hotels but for the difference in price it’s definitely worth it. Lots of MP’s stay here while the house is sitting.
The restaurant food was just average. The chef uses flavour/ food combinations, that in some cases, don’t work. The breakfast buffet had a very poor choice, and below average quality, even for this category of hotel. The hotel appears very new with very nice decor. The reception service was good, but restaurant service is inconsistent.
Stayed at the Hilton for work. Amazing dinner and great service at the bar. Thank you Justin for the amazing service! Highly recommend the hanger steak. Rooms were pristine, check in fast and efficient.
Arrived about 02:00am and had a smooth check in. The entire ambience in the hotel was awesome. We had good lunch with family. Will stay again. Went to ask for fresh room supplies and voila came back to meet fresh towels and room refill . Awesome
Night Manager is rude and very confrontational. We were with our hockeybteam, so parents and kids. If you are traveling with friends do not go here. Daytime staff is fine. The cleaning staff is good. The restaurant was good. Location is good.
Very clean room and nice pool. I didn't have a chance to try the restaurant, but the location was very convenient. It was walkable to several restaurants and a tim hortons just down the street, as well as the downtown government buildings.
Fabulous haven of peace in the middle of downtown Ottawa. Great rooms, great food, great atmosphere, great people. This hotel is a little gem. They even have a swimming pool and speak other languages than English.
1. Check-in was slow, and a mess, we stated many times that we reserved 2 rooms but only provided us 1 room, and need to check with the counter again for the other room. 2. Stupid way of working, since the elevator needs a room key to activate, why need to ask how many room keys we need, I suppose per person? 3. Breakfast is exhausting, line up for more than 1/2 an hour before getting a seat? All customers needed to provide our full names before entering and a waiter checked everyone's name manually. While booking the policy is not clear and many people actually did not buy the breakfast package and think that it is included. The waiter had to write down the room number and check with the front desk physically to see if the customer paid the breakfast fee and quite often if there is more than one room of customers eating breakfast together, the waiter only writes down one room number to check but not the others and customers need to check many times to confirm some rooms already paid but some rooms did not pay. 4. The charge for breakfast is a rip-off! We pay more than $23CAD per person for only 2 kinds of bread, one type of sausage, fried egg, potato wedges, bacon, assorted fruits, yogurts, and different types of beverages and that's it.…
