I stayed at this hotel while my husband was receiving care at the Ottawa Heart Institute, which is just a 20-minute walk away. The location turned out to be incredibly convenient, with a 24-hour Shopper’s Drug Mart directly across the street, and a small mall next door offering a variety of services including a hair salon, nail spa, bank, restaurant, food court, and Service Ontario. I ended up extending my stay several times as my husband's condition improved.
I was pleasantly surprised by the area. Normally, I order takeout via Uber Eats, but this time I decided to try the hotel’s restaurant, Cafe 1274, located in the basement. The atmosphere was cozy with a bar and a pool table. I was so impressed by the food that I made it a point to dine there every evening after returning from the hospital. Everything I tried was delicious, from the Cranberry Brie Chicken Wrap to the Deluxe Burger, wings, salad, wine and even breakfast. The staff, particularly the servers at Cafe 1274- Lauren, An and Neslie- were friendly and attentive, and I want to give a special shoutout to the chef for consistently preparing great meals!
I stayed in a two-queen bed room on the 1st floor for 4 nights. The room was spacious and cozy, though I did find it noisy at times. I could hear doors slamming, people walking by, and staff cleaning rooms, which disrupted my sleep. The air conditioning worked very well, though. Afterward, I moved to a king bed room on a renovated floor for the next 3 nights. This room was much quieter, brighter, and more spacious. However, the bathtub was outdated and shallow, which was a bit of a downside if you’re looking to take a relaxing bath. I used the laundry facility located in the basement. One washer and dryer are coin-operated, and the other washer and dryer accept card payments via tap. It’s $4 for each load.
Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would definitely return, especially because of the food and the hotel's great location!

Perfect location: easy access to the 417. Very comfortable bed. The on-site restaurant offers good food at a fair price, and is very convenient. I typically stay in Ottawa one weekend a year, and this is the hotel I choose.

We were in town for a funeral and this location was a quick cab ride to the funeral home. It is recommended to have access to a vehicle if you plan to travel around Ottawa to see the various attractions. The staff were very friendly and the room was very clean. Our reservation was upgraded to a room with a kitchenette which is definitely a bonus if you are staying longer and/or traveling with children. Small hot meals can be prepared in the room. Dishes, cutlery, etc are contained in the kitchenette.
It was a very good value for our money.

Best Western Plus Ottawa City Centre is a very good hotel and we spent a very happy time during spring break. I think the most important thing for a hotel is to keep the room clean and I have lots of requirements for that. At Best Western Plus Ottawa City Centre, I’m so surprised that I can’t find any odors and unclean places in my room, especially the pillows and bed. Furthermore, I want to say that the receptionists are nice and friendly, say thanks to them. When I plan the summer holiday travel, I can’t find Best Western at the destination city, I hope you operate more hotels everywhere.

First of all they have sketchy people hanging around the parking lot, when we asked they called them medical people. Signs say no loitering so they know it’s an issue. Coffee in lobby only available 12-5 really? Our room had moldy water and grinds in the maker from who knows when. The safe was broken. To go to pool you must wait in line at front desk to sign out towels and get a separate key to use the pool. If you want to use the billiard table that they advertise it’s in the bar area and force you to buy a drink. The area has no restaurants in walking distance or anything to go to. Spend your money elsewhere this was a complete disaster! I’ve expressed issues to management, didn’t seem to care. Good luck!

Dear Annette, I am very sorry you did not have a satisfactory stay. The hotel is located close to a hospital and you may be referring to a guest that was going to the hospital during their stay, this was what the front desk staff were trying to explain to you. Yes the pool table is located in the hotel lounge, a soda pop or coffee is all that is required to order to use the pool table. As much as possible we strive to ensure every guest has a great stay every time they visit. Unfortunately this was not the case on this occasion, though trying to address the issues during your stay. We came to Ottawa as a family member was suddenly going to pass. We checked in late as we were tired and exhausted for a day of travelling to get to the hospital nearby in time. Ottawa Civic Hospital is just two minutes down the road which is why we selected this hotel AND the fact that we have had great experiences with Best Western hotels in the past. The front desk clerk "Sherry" was our sudden angel. When booking in she casually asked "So what brings you to Ottawa" and I then told her why. I informed her that we needed any room but preferably a king and that we work for the government. Sherry quickly understood our stressful situation with picking up family at airports and getting to hospital in time to say goodbyes etc. Sherry put us in an AMAZING suite with fridge, dishwasher etc as we didn't know how long we will be staying. We received our corporate discount on a basic room but were upgraded (we are also BW perks members). I can't say enough about the compassion Sherry showed my husband and I and how accomodating she was to make sure we were taken care of. After my family member passed we were able to use our large room to come back to and make decisions moving forward. Having the kitchen available for cold drinks, healthy snacks (Sherry pointed out where to go to get these) was SO helpful. The room was SO CLEAN, comfy bed, GREAT amenities and we ate at the on site restaurant and the food was wonderful. This is a great place to stay and I highly recommend. We stayed at this location on family day weekend. We paid the high rate on the Saturday night. There were 3 of us in the room. When we came back to the hotel I asked the front desk for 4 Kuerig tea pods because there was no tea in the room. He said No, I could only have 2. He said it was policy. I had to go back down to the front desk an hour later and beg for 2 more tea pods. It was really disappointing that you pay over $300 for a room and front desk gives you a hard time for a 50 cent tea pod. Also, bring your own tissues. The tissues they provide at this location are as rough as sandpaper. It will rip the skin off your nose. I guess a plus was the toilet paper. It was softer than the tissues so I had to use that to blow my nose.
We had stayed at Best Western in Woodstock the month before and had a fantastic experience. That’s why we chose to stay at a Best Western in Ottawa. Very very disappointing experience. They don’t understand that sometimes it’s the small things that matter.

The staff was helpful and very friendly, and of great assistance with creating a block of rooms and hospitality evening for out of town guests. Seamless, stress free and very accommodating, thoroughly professional. Rooms were clean and I was surprised when I walked in and found a full size refrigerator plus a dishwasher, microwave and convection hot plate, along with all of the equipment you would need. My only issue was that the little Keurig was a bit temperamental. There was even a boot mat in the front closet that I didn’t notice until we were leaving!

The hotel was every bit as expected and was a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, as required. The rooms were clean, comfortable. The fitness room met all my needs and the location is very good and convenient to various attractions and amenities, such as the mall across the road.

This was our second time at this hotel. We stay in Ottawa twice a year because my daughter goes to Carleton university. The location is ten minutes drive from the university and in walking distance of a mall. We stayed in a two queen bed room with kitchenette which was stocked with all the necessities and a full size fridge. The room was spacious. One of the perks of the hotel is a very convenient EV charging station where you can charge your car for free for three hours. There is a bar and restaurant at the hotel offering breakfast and dinner. We had dinner there and food was very good. We will definitely be back in April.
