This past weekend my girlfriend and I stayed 3 days at the Econo lodge in downtown Ottawa. This hotel needs some work. Our room was a non-smoking room, however it was obvious that it had been a smoking room for several, several years before we arrived. Most likely they just slapped a Non-smoking sign in the room a few minutes...

Although we are an older property, we are in fact a non smoking property. However, we can not guarantee that a guest will adhere to our non smoking policy. We encourage our guests during check-in to call the front desk at any hour should they find an issue with the room. This gives us a chance to rectify the situation...

We had a small room tucked under the stairs in the corner, very basic. No microwave, no tea bags in room. Coffee machine can be used to heat the water, so BYO tea bags. Outside walkways are dangerous for the elderly as they are very uneven and covered with loose rubber tiles, easy to trip on. Our room had a...

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We do have accommodations with microwaves and refrigerators; however, you booked a standard room which does not have those amenities. At present the tiles on the walkway are being temporarily repaired but will be permanently repaired in the very near future. The "water view" you referred to was due to a construction site next...

My colleague and I had 2 rooms at the Econo Lodge for 3 nights during a training session in downtown Ottawa. We reserved here mainly due to the cost. I was a bit nervous because of the reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms and overall hotel appeared to have had a recent renovation. Our rooms were clean and...

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We are very fortunate to have the interior of the guest rooms fully renovated 2015 and are excited to renovate the exterior in 2016. We hope you will stay with us again!

Is seems to me they were ramping up after winter (for march break) or something and the first room we got has been unused through the winter - it was a basket case, neither door was working properly and the such. The second day we were offered another room - probably one that has been constantly used as everything was...

The hotel is old. The rooms have been updated with new carpet and light fixtures but the walls need to be redone and painted. Bath tub is old and in need of replacing. Basically clean. Rooms were loud as Rideau is a busy street with lots of transient traffic from nearby YMCA hostel. Hear lots of shouting and movement on...

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Although we are an older economy property, we strive to ensure the cleanliness of the property. During the summer 2016 we had additional access points installed around the property to ensure better connectivity.

We had a double Queen room that looked very similar to the pictures of the renovated rooms. It is a strange mixture of updates but was clean and the beds alright (definitely not new but no lumps). The hotel lists microwaves and mini fridge in the rooms but there are not! There also is not satellite TV, it's Rogers cable...

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your stay! The renovation process has been completed by project and we are looking forward to having a completely renovated property very soon! Approximately half of our rooms include microwaves and refrigerators (the 'Superior Rooms' when booking) and are listed as part of the amenities in the specific room...

I was somewhat reluctant to book a room at this hotel given the sometimes sketchy neighbourhood. This place is no palace but given the price I was very satisfied. The service was very good. Lady at the check-in was very professional. Rooms and linens were very clean. The walls are very thin so I could hear every word of the...

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experiences! We do strive daily to ensure we provide a clean and comfortable night for our guests. As an older building the walls are a challenge however our front desk is staffed 24 hours a day to ensure we can handle any noise complaints or concerns!

The hotel is small but the service was very good. We enjoyed a good stay. Our room was clean and tidy all the time. The employees where very helpful all the time. This place has a good location, within a 15-20min walk to the By Ward market and parliament hill. The front desk attendee was very friendly and accommodating. Price is SUPER cheap. However, the room was not the greatest. I was unsure whether the quilt had been washed, and the bathroom door was very dirty. The walls are also very thin,...

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your stay - we do appreciate that time is precious! Our location is most definitely excellent with great accessibility to downtown. They house homeless people there until the city finds housing for them. The place is full of drugs and fighting. Not a place to go to relax if you are on vacation. Not clean and the plumbing sucks.
