Arc The.hotel Ottawa stands out for its prime location, a stone's throw from Parliament Hill and Byward Market, making it a hit with guests who enjoy exploring on foot.
The hotel's boutique vibe and modern, clean rooms receive applause, although some visitors point out that the rooms could benefit from a refresh and more space. While the amenities and service generally meet expectations, with staff members earning accolades for their professionalism, the value proposition is debated, particularly regarding parking fees and room quality.

Detailed Reviews
I don't normally have a lot to say about the hotels I stay at, because I try to just pick something in a medium price range that has a great location. My best case scenario is that my hotel is safe and clean and I can remember nothing else about it. I will say that ARC's location was why I picked it, and the best part about it. My local friends were impressed I was staying here, so it seems to have a great reputation. But I'd say my overall experience was a really mixed bag with a lot of standout moments, where, like I said, I'd mostly want it to be pleasant-forgettable.
This was my first time staying at any hotel at all since COVID, and I wasn't sure how places are handling things globally. I realize it's tough and spots are probably down staff when they need it, and I like to think I am pretty realistic about my expectations. That said, I was really confused about the cleaning situation here, as housekeeping seemed to be by request only. Makes sense but was hard to put into practice. Twice during my weeklong stay, two different cleaning staff saw me in the hallways and proactively asked if I wanted my room done, which was very nice but also felt like a chance encounter that I'd have to run into them. Of those two instances, one person simply made the bed and folded the towels, when the other person did the full deep clean with garbage taken out, cups washed, toiletries restocked etc. I don't like to be wasteful so I don't need a full cleaning every day, I just couldn't tell the difference between when and why I'd get a particular type of service.
I felt the same way about the front desk staff. I encountered many workers over my week's stay and some were super helpful and professional and went above and beyond to help me out (mostly just me asking about attractions in the area and for suggestions on what to do) while a few others literally said "I don't know but you can Google it!" I was really shocked by this, again, because I was just asking things like what museums they'd recommend or where they recommended I stop for lunch -- nothing too wild, and of course I'd obviously Googled extensively before arriving! Just wanted to get a local's opinion. While some staff pulled out maps and had recommendations ready, others I would not trust to actually book me tickets or set up tours if I needed that service.
I'd also say that the room's walls were very thin and I could hear what my room neighbors were up to at all times. For a few hours a day, I was working and on conference calls in my room and I imagine that everyone on my floor could hear what I was working on too.

The location is very central.
We arrived quite late, and the hotel’s parking was full, but the night receptionist was very helpful and friendly, showing me where to find public parking nearby.
The room was fairly standard, but the A/C was loud, and unfortunately, the bed was terrible. Normally, I can sleep easily, but this time the mattress was uneven, worn out, and extremely uncomfortable, making it a really bad sleeping experience.

Dear Behnam, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay. I’m pleased to hear that our night receptionist was helpful and friendly in assisting you with parking options. Providing excellent service is something we take pride in. However, I sincerely apologize for the discomfort you experienced with the bed and the noise from the air conditioning unit. A restful night’s sleep is one of the most important aspects of a hotel stay, and I regret that we fell short in this area. Your comments about the mattress and A/C have been shared with our team, and we will work to address these issues to ensure a better experience for future guests. We truly value your feedback as it helps us improve. I hope you will give us another opportunity to provide you with a more comfortable and enjoyable stay in the future. Thank you again for your review, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future.

Overall, this hotel was wonderful! I’ll start with the only downside which was the parking not being connected to the hotel, but the walk wasn’t too bad and the lady at the front desk suggested that we stay parked out front to unload our luggage and then move the car to the parking garage. The hotel staff at Arc were always pleasant, kind, and accommodating! The two queen room that we booked was very nice, and the bed was fantastic! I need to know what mattress it was, because I seriously need one in my life!! We loved that the hotel was in a quiet area of Ottawa, and we were able to have a nice walk to everything in the area!! This trip was the first time we stayed in walking distance of everything and I think it’ll be the new norm for traveling. So convenient! When we arrived back to the hotel there was always two kinds of water in the lobby to rehydrate with. Plus the maids were very kind and refilled our necessities, including water each day. Also, we ordered room service the first night and the food was amazing!! Highly recommend the restaurant in the hotel and Heart and Crown pub in Byward Market! Absolutely amazing food and service in both!! We’ll definitely be back to this hotel in the future!! Thank you for an amazing start to our vacation!!

Staff was excellent. However, the package we purchased included 3 meal vouchers at the in-house restaurant. We were unable to use them for dinner as the venue was privately booked, which caused us to order in and go out for dinner each of the 3 nights of our stay.
The breakfast menu is extremely limited with no substitutions.
Manager on duty offered no compensation for this lack of availability.
Parking is underground and the only way to access the vehicle is walking down an alley between two buildings and into the underground.
Our room was no bigger than a jail cell with a view looking directly the brick wall of the neighbouring building. Called the “Queen Intimate”? Guess Intimate means extremely minuscule.
The hotel was advised it was our anniversary, and we still had to ask for our complimentary drinks included in the package!
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this location. Much better properties in the vicinity.

Liked the location and price but they need to put current information on their site.
The restaurant and bar were not open.
While they have parking at $25 per day, the free parking is on the street starting Friday at 5:30pm until Monday morning at 7:00 am. So if you are not their on a weekend you pay for parking either with them or in the public lots.
They do not offer daily room cleaning unless you stay for more than 2 days and you must request the service 24 hours in advance and I assume this is because of covid
When you check in there is a $75 per day refundable charge added to your bill for security reasons
This all needs to be explained on their website for clarity and to allow you to make plans for any dining or transportation needs you may have or want to do
The staff was very friendly and helpful allowing us to enjoy the time we spent in the city.
The 3 stars for cleanliness is because I found a used Kcup at the foot of the bed. And while the overall appearance of the room and bathroom was clean I had some reservations as to how well it was done. The bed is on a platform with no access to underneath but does over hang the foot of the bed where you would normally vacuum

Hotel seemed in between cheap and classy. Rooms are not quality rooms. Clean however tacky. Room service was ok, food just ok not good for the price. Tip for room service was included however, it was not communicated and accepted another tip with the percent on the hand held.
I personally was not happy with the experience.

I came for a weekend getaway with a friend and rented the executive suite. The room was a good size, with a separate bedroom and pocket doors leading into the living room area. There was a TV in both the living room and bedroom. The bed and bedding was very comfortable.
What I didn't love was that the hotel room seemed tired, like it had seen better days. Small bathroom, with paint peeling on the window shutters. The towels were not particularly plush, and there were no bathrobes. The first day, housekeeping didn't come to clean our room for some reason, but did ask if we'd like service on the second day and did a great job.
The worst was that this room - the most expensive in the entire hotel - was located right outside the ice machine, so at all hours of the night, we were woken up by the sound of someone getting ice. Wearing earplugs did the trick once I realized what was happening.
Their website says that flexible check out is available but when I called for an extra hour extension I was told this was not possible due to high occupancy. I understand this, but they should remove this claim from the website in this case.
In general, this is a good budget option if you want a centrally located, basic hotel. For about 30% more, I could have stayed at a much nicer hotel which I will do next time.

During our organization's stay at the ARC, the staff were always very helpful and kind during all of our interactions. Management also added some extra touches to make our block booking experience easy and adaptable during this difficult planning period (in the midst of a pandemic). If there was a challenge, they were always quick to assist and/or find the right person to speak with, so one always felt needs would be met.
The item that diminishes their "overall rating" from excellent, is their location in terms of accessibility. While it is indeed a great location in terms of proximity to downtown, there are huge accessibility challenges at this space. To get into any major space (the hotel itself, the restaurant, the bathrooms, or meeting rooms etc.), you will encounter stairs. So those attending with a cane, or facing movement challenges, will have difficulties because of the number of flights of stairs. Anyone with a wheelchair would certainly wish to choose another location.
Let it be known that staff were courteous and made themselves available to the individual with mobility challenges. They also offered a slightly more accessible room (but the bathtub sides still present accessibility challenges). Staff did briefly address this stair challenge at the time of booking. Those considering this space for meetings will want to thoroughly speak to attendees about what their accessibility needs are in full, while recognizing that the front steps are not the only accessibility challenge at play.
Overall though, the food was delicious, the staff is very helpful and kind, and we would certainly encourage others to stay here if accessibility is not a concern for them.

A well maintained and clean hotel. Daily housekeeping who add small touches to make the room feel polished. Staff were welcoming and ready to help make your visit as comfortable as possible. It felt like a home away from home.

This hotel needs a major update. Fans horribly loud or clanging. Furniture plastic vinyl and mismatched. Bathrooms poor. Almost no hot water in shower - barely lukewarm. Bad internet. Worn carpets. Bed is good but pillows hard and bulky. I used to like this hotel years ago when it was better managed. I’m sad to see it so out of date. Not a single decoration in the room, which is painted in “institutional mud brown” if that’s a paint colour. There is nothing relaxing or inviting left, I’m truly sad to say. Drat.

There's is absolutely no free parking you will find downtown (at least not for 5 days). You can certainly find cheaper alternatives with parking in the area (most parking lots and parking garages) tend to be cheaper
