This property is a hidden gem. It is located close to the airport and was excellent value since we booked a reverse park and fly. The shuttle driver did rush us a little while we just wanted a moment to gather of belongings. We appreciated the shuttle to the airport but had to take a taxi as the shuttle stops at 10:30pm. An option for a late night shuttle would be a great addition to the service.
The front desk staff was excellent on the day we parked our vehicle and the day we returned. When we returned the taxi we took form the airport left before we had gotten all our bags and the gentleman at the front desk helped us look up the number for the taxi and help us get our bag back.
Our room was a standard room with 2 double beds and was very comfortable. The tile at the door was perfect separation to leave snow covered footwear.
The room was clean, and we had a nice view of the river.
We would definitely stay at this hotel again especially when flying out of the Ottawa Airport.

This spot is a perfect quiet place to rest your head. The location adds so much beauty from the river and forest around it. Rooms are wonderful, updated and everything else about the place is spot on. The staff of course are the best around and always friendly and helpful. To me it is better then your larger hotels near the airport.
They allow Pets which is great because I was travelling with my Dog and spots like that are hard to find lately. I always travel through Ottawa and pick this hotel because for me no one else meets their quality and the beauty of the location. The only downside I can think of would be that you pay extra for the dog/pet when I wish hotels would charge a deposit and inspect the room to give it back. What was a deal at 109 a room for 2 nights turned into a 350+ dollar bill from fees and taxes. Which of course is probably due to the industry and not this particular hotel.
Overall this place is worth the stay and especially if you have animals. Only downsides would be those hotel industry fees and possibly the shuttle doesn’t run very early or late.

Thank you for the great review . We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We really appreciate you mentioning the staff. We have some great people working here, and they truly make this place better. We are proud to be pet friendly ., and we feel the pet fee is reasonable . The reason we do charge for the pet fee is there is additional cleaning fee involved in having pets stay in hotel . Our housekeeping team are allotted an extra 30 minutes to clean each pet room . We do offer flat fees for guests that are staying multiple nights. If you return to Ottawa please contact me directly. I would be more than happy to take care of your reservation. My email is khillis@ramadaottawa.com or by direct line 613-288-3540. Sincerely, Kristine

My boyfriend and I stayed here on Valentine's day. It was our first Valentine's day together. Upon check in we were greeted with smiles and small talk while being checked in. We were surprised to be informed that we had been upgraded to a suite for the night. The room was beautiful with a great view of the river. We ate at the restaurant and the service was very good. The young lady that took our order was very courtesy and chatted while our food was prepared. We paid an add'l $6 for the upgraded breakfast although the selection that was available with the room cost was amazing. You can make your own waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, muffins and the list goes on. This was overall the best mini vacation we have had. I would love to stay in the summer as I am sure the view is just amazing. Great place for couples getaway. Hugh thank you Kristina and her staff for making this such a great experience for us. We don't have many opportunities to travel without our children and i would love to return in the summer as i am sure the view is even more amazing in the sunshine.

I made a big mistake booking a room here and would not recommend it to anyone.
After paying $119/night for a deluxe “pet friendly” room vs $89 for the rooms that said no pets, I was told upon arrival that in the fine print it said there could be more additional fees for having a pet with me (a surprise $25/night extra x3 nights). If the hotel was transparent about this it would have been a different story, but I was upset that this was NOT clear at the time of booking. The person at the front desk had no sympathy and did not offer anything to make the experience better.
Then, I got to my room, and it was disgusting. It had not been cleaned from the previous guests and was left a mess (see photo). This would be bad enough during normal times, let alone during a pandemic.
I went back to the lobby and requested a refund immediately and instead went to a pet-friendly 4 star hotel in Kanata. It was much nicer, not much more expensive, AND they waved their *transparent* pet fee when they heard about the awful experience I had at Ramada.

Thank you for your review. While I am disappointed to read your review. I feel its best to respond with an explanation of what happened. Our pet friendly rooms are located in our deluxe building. These rooms are pet friendly as they do not have carpet and are easily accessible for your pets to be outside. The rooms are also larger, newly renovated and water facing. We do our best to be transparent regarding the pet fees , and it has been a struggle for me to ensure that these pets fees are communicated properly. I personally call all websites on a monthly basis that sell our rooms to ensure our pet policies are being communicated properly. I have had websites remove that we are pet friendly if they are not able to communicate to our guests. properly. In regards to the fees and the staff I have spent time with the individual to ensure that they are aware what they can do when something like this happens again . I was satisfied with the ideas that they were providing , and I am confident that if this situation happens again it will be dealt with better. In regards to being checked into a dirty room I I did look into what happened, During Covid we were placing rooms out of order. This room in particular was placed out of order and missed to be cleaned the next day . I did spend some time with housekeeping, and have implemented new procedures to ensure that it does not happen again. What transpired was not acceptable, and I will do my very best to ensure it does not repeat itself. Thank you for your review. It gives us the opportunity to learn and improve. Sincerely, Kristine Hillis General Manager

Had a lovely relaxing one-night stay here to enjoy the pool and the peace and tranquility of the river. My room was on the third floor and I enjoyed the nice view from the balcony watching the boats go by. The pool is located near the road so there is a bit of noise but not enough to bother me. There is a dock near the water where you can enjoy being near the water. COVID-19 safety protocols in place throughout. Ordered room service which exceeded expectations. Overall a great little getaway. Thanks for the professional assistance from front desk manager Kristine.

I made a mistake venturing away from my usual Hilton stays and went for this hotel based on coworkers telling me I need to participate in Winterlude near the Canal.
Well this hotel boasts that it’s along the Canal...it’s not and if it is I didn’t see it lol!
Staff was rude checking in and during the week. Rooms are small, very outdated and not worth the price - it reminds me of the old motels along deserted highways when traveling.
If they hold a banquet you have no where to park - which happened to me twice, I had to park far away and then watch for a spot to open up in the evening.
Sink tap ran all night and there was no way to shut it off, when I went to tell the front desk I was hushed because they were chatting.
Save your money and stay somewhere classier, scenic and worth the price.

In regards to the location we are nestled on the banks of the Rideau River. The river is located at the back of the property. From spring to late fall guests have full access to the water. I have double checked all websites just to ensure it is displaying properly. I will be sure to speak to all staff in regards to your stay. Good day Gents.
We had one of the most horrible experiences ever in this hotel. The person who welcomed us name's is Charle. Charle was very rude and far from being professionnal, détails to.come. When we first made our reservation by phone in the morning while.on the road, we weren't advised there was a security deposit to add on top of paying room's fee when checking in. Even in the Email we have received, there was no montion of such security deposit at all. When on site, we've only changed currency to do our tours visit during the day and we've took in considerwtion room's fee when we first made our currency change. (Fornsecurity reasons, we only change what we need for the place we're in), so the change included of course room's fee when cheking in the afternoon. So again, when on site, obviously we didn't have enough Canadian $ to pay that security deposit fee. Charle rudely asked us to go look for another hotel if we didn't have enough money without trying to understand why we were facing this incident. We Felt horribely intimidated and mistreated as at that moment, we had about 30K EURO but we just didn't expect those fee for that night. At that moment, my wife told me that she kept about 100$ cash whith her so we negociated a 100 cash security deposit which will be returned when checking out, he accepted with a feeling of Mercy as if he did the biggest favor of his life to someone. We just didn't comment at that moment as we really needed a place to stay plus we don't know the town, probably 22h00 wasn't the best time to start looking for another hotel and we were very tired coing from France. However, we've decided to send à feed back when leaving the hotel. About the room, he gave us a room that smells literally feet. Air Conditionner roars more than à diesel engin. Reste room door doesn't close. The Fan in the toilet makes unsupported noises. The door look thru glass hole is blurred so we couldn't recognize someone when required before opening. The heating was broken and the alarm device doesn't work... we took video evidences of all the above and more... it was just a very very bad and a horrible experience. The day after, we just wanted to leave the place and never come back there ever again. We made our way to the Sheraton Hotel where we were more than welcomed and treated like humain being. We will share our experience with our beloved ones so no one will have to go throught what we went thru there.
Thank you for your time and enjoy your day!

Thank you for the review. In regards to the credit card I will ensure that my team communicates the security deposit. The security deposit is standard access to the industry, and is 30% of the total room and tax. We do no accept cash upon check in as a form of payment. We ask that all guests have a credit card. Charles was following Policy in this check in process. That being said the conversation regarding finding another hotel, and how it was handled could have been handled better. I will ensure the team listens to our customers, and that all variables are taken into consideration when faced with a situation like this again. In regards to the room occupied I will be sure to investigate your concerns. Thank you again for sharing your experience. I will ensure to speak with Guest Services Team to come up with solutions on how this situation could have been accommodated.

We had a flight at 5:30pm that got canceled and rescheduled for the next morning at 10am. This hotel was one of 6 hotels that our airline provided for us. We choose this hotel because it had an airport shuttle and was 10 minutes away from the airport. It looked great in the pictures. We waited 10 minutes outside the airport for the shuttle. Our room was nice and clean, had a balcony with a nice view of the Rideau River. The hotel had beers for sale at the front desk. My husband and I bought 2 and we took the kids down to the dock. The kids through rocks into the river, we enjoyed ourselves. The pillows and beds were comfortable and we slept well. The next morning we had a nice breakfast that was included in the stay. We had coffee, juice, yogurt, sausages, and toast. Upon going back to our room we received an email from our airline saying our flight was delayed again to 7pm that evening. We called the front desk and told them about our flight they told us we could do late check out at noon. We asked them if at noon when we checked out do they happen to have a place we could leave our luggage and they said yes we can keep it here with us. So at noon we did our late check out and they kept our luggage for us while we went to have lunch next door. When we came back to the hotel we asked if we could rent a canoe and they said yes. So we took the canoe out for a couple hours to kill time. When we came back to the hotel they offered us some cold canned drinks, free of charge. They also didn't charge us the usual half day price for the canoe rental they gave us a discounted rate. They allowed us to stay on the hotel grounds as long as we needed. The staff was understanding of our situation, they were friendly, and very accommodating. They also called the shuttle for us at 3:30pm so we could get back to the airport again. This was a wonderful hotel experience, we will remember their hospitality and will absolutely will stay here again if we are in Ottawa for the night.

Comfortable beds and a good location. The area was quiet and the breakfast was suitable continental options with warm eggs and sausages.
The check in and check out was very quick (check out was 1 minute) and the front desk manager helped us switch to rooms in the same area without hassle.
Good staff.

This is a great spot on the river that has great rooms, balconies and various places to sit. The pool is great and while it's by the road it's not too busy for noise but the pool could be warmer. Even small children were shuddering. Rooms are very clean and have laminate flooring , this just felt cleaner too. While I visited during covid, all things were very clean and even had a great pick up breakfast at the front desk. The only negative, would be they should cut some trees to give a better view of the river. Excellent place

The YOW (Ottawa) airport has several different car rental companies too choose from, it is about 3-4 miles south of the hotel, and about 10 minutes away. The Ramada hotel shuttle is very helpful, they will give you a free lift there to pick up a rental car if need be. As a courtesy, "slip the driver" $2-3 for his time !!!
We are 12 minutes and 8.4km.
