Went to Ottawa in in mid September for a casual long weekend. Les Suites is walking distance to many interest tourist spots like the Rideau Canal, Parliament, National Gallery etc. and is right on the edge of the Byward market area-great restaurants. Close to a transit line so getting there from the railway station was very easy. The room was a "Modern suite" and was comfortable, clean, with a full kitchen, separate bedroom, washer and dryer, and a balcony. Comfortable bed, slept very well. Very nice. Decent gym. Pleasant staff at the desk. A small pool as available. While visiting there was construction nearby that was a bit noisy during the day but seriously, what can you do? It happens. The area is very mixed with lots of university students, business types and homeless people. Homeless people cluster around Rideau Ave and the shopping center and can give the area a bit of a sketchy vibe, but we did not see any misbehaviour and there was always a lot of people around. if you choose to eat in, you will find more selection and better priced groceries at the nearby Metro store than at the Farm Guy. Overall I have no complaints and would stay here again. Bring a few paper towels if you use the kitchen just for your own convenience.

The location is great. The renovations of the suites are great. All the staff from the front desk, cleaners, security are always friendly and always very helpful and welcoming. The one bedroom suites have lots of space and are very clean. You hear very little noise in the hallways. Always look forward staying at the Les Suites Ottawa and we will be back.

Les Suites doesn't look like much, lobby a bit stark, decor a bit dated, and it is not the cleanest hotel we've ever stayed in BUT everything else about it is fabulous! We were upgraded for free to a larger suite as they oversold the size we booked. It was spacious, beds were comfortable with lots of extra pillows and blankets. Kitchen was large and laundry facility useful. Per our request they provided a travel crib. We struggled with setting it up and they immediately sent someone to help. Realizing it was broken, they got another one right away and set it up for us.
We were able to make the rooms dark enough with the curtains for sleep and there were plenty of plugins for our various chargers and gadgets, good WiFi, and a decent shower.
The hotel was quiet, seemed to follow reasonable Covid protocols, had easy short-term parking in front for loading and unloading, and was within walking distance of everything we needed (groceries, coffee, Rideau Centre, bus stop/O-train). Our kids enjoyed the pool and the fitness centre looked brand new.
The staff were friendly, helpful, and quick in their responses and the price for our stay was very reasonable.
If you want "fancy" this is not it but it is a solid choice especially for families visiting Ottawa. We would definitely stay again.

The two bedroom suite we had for 4 people was dingy at best. The couch was stained and worn. First morning there one person had a shower but within 3 minutes the water went cold and had to rinse her hair in very cold water. Front desk sent up maintenance who came 40 minutes only to find the water was warm now so deemed “all good, no problem here”. Second attempt at a shower on a separate day, same thing. Called front desk to get a fellow who didn’t want to help and asked me what I wanted him to do with a sarcastic tone. When I was transferred to another person they made another suit available for showering which was a solution but less than ideal. The second suite they gave us to shower in, the toilet was filthy with dried urine.
Upon checking out they offered $30 as compensation for not being able to shower or have hot water for sanitation in the kitchen and let us know they have been inconvenienced as they now have an additional suite they can’t rent out as we showered in it. Unsatisfied with that, we spoke with Kevin, the manager, who when we calmly explained our situation, once again placed the responsibility was put on us to have followed up after our initial complaint and he was only willing to offer $150 on our $1,300 bill. We asked for one nights stay as compensation which we felt VERY reasonable given the situation and he refused.

Many of our guests are not aware that our suites have individual ensuite hot water tanks and at times their capacity is not adequate for the length of time some of our guests like to shower/bathe, especially for bathers one after another. After your second call to the Front Desk, it was determined that the hot water tank in your suite needed to be replaced and I do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience of having to access another suite for showering. It would be a pleasure to welcome you again on your next stay in downtown Ottawa.

We were on a family vacation and we showed up at the hotel around 12 to drop our luggage off and see if we could check in early. Was not possible but that is completely understandable as check in was at 3 and we were told to come back them. Again, absolutely understandable. We came back at 2:45 and asked if the room was available. This is where the trouble started.
The front desk informed us that the room was not ready and would be ready sometime after three. No time frame put on that. The hotel had been completely booked the night before and housekeeping had not cleaned the rooms. I don’t at all have ill feelings towards the front desk or house keeping, but it is summer in Ottawa, it is busy. The hotel should be prepared.
At 3:30 the line to check in was out the door of the hotel with every second person being told their room was not ready and to come back an hour or two later. People were also told there was no parking and being told to park in the mall lot which then became full too. At 4:30 I asked again after hearing them tell another young lady, who had booked one night in the hotel as a special birthday staycation for herself, maybe in 2 hours she could come back. They still did not know when the room would be ready.
We called Expedia who were thankfully able to cancel the reservation and we went around the corner to the Hilton double tree which ended up being cheaper and got fresh cookies on arrival rather than the dismissive nature we got at the Les Suites. We will not stay here again. It may seem like only a few hours of inconvenience, however when you only have one night of the vacation with your family and you need access to the room it really causes some grief. The only compensation offered to people was a discount on some restaurants. If you book a room you should have access to it for the entire time you pay for it. Because I am sure you would still have to be out at the check out time they required.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel! My room smelled like stale smoke and mould. I mentioned this to the front desk and was told it’s an old hotel and all the rooms smell, so no attempt was made to move me to a new room. They suggested opening the windows, which I was able to do in one room, but the screen was all ripped up on the other one.
I had planned to stay 3 nights, but decided to leave a day early because of the poor accommodations. I went to check out at 3:45pm and had to pay full price for the last night, including parking for that night because it was after 3pm. They didn’t even offer a discount or waive the last night parking fee. Dear Travelling Salesman 1922, Thank you for your review. Suite freshness is definitely one of our standards and our Housekeeping Management Team will be investigating. Because our suites have full kitchens, the majority of our guests like to cook and smells can linger and I do apologize. Normally we would move a guest but because we were at full occupancy, this was not possible. Check-out is at 11:00 a.m. and yes, you were charged for the night. As you may not have been aware, the parking garage next to the hotel is not owned by Les Suites. It would be a pleasure to welcome you again on your next stay in downtown Ottawa.

The reception staff and their manager are all too unfriendly and take their own time for check in . The suites are large and have all the facilities of a proper kitchen with equipment and also laundry room! But the housekeeping used the dish washer to clean just a couple of mugs and coffee brew jug so I felt that it was wasting too much energy and soap s and nd water using a huge dishwater to run for so long just for a couple of items , multiplied by every room if they that in every room , bothered me . Quality of housekeeping was excellent though . Location was amazing .

We recently spent two nights at Les Suites Hotel during a busy weekend in Ottawa. We were delighted with our accommodations and the location of the hotel. We could easily just park the car and walk to everything we were interested in seeing while we visited the Nations capital. We were 2 couples with no children and our suite featured two bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable dining and sitting area. It was perfect! We were treated like royalty by the kind and attentive staff and we even received a special note thanking us for our visit by the GM Chris Pierce along with a tasty treat! Thank you for helping us make wonderful memories of our visit in Ottawa. We can't wait to come back!!

Great location and perfect setup for our family of 4. We stayed in a modern 2 bedroom 1 bath suite, 17th floor, for 4 nights. We were visiting for Winterlude and it was walking distance to everything we wanted to see and plenty of restaurant options. I was very happy with housekeeping and we had very quick response when we called the front desk for extra towels. We arrived just before 3 pm on a Saturday and check-in was quick. No parking with hotel was available, but we parked at the mall next door and it was $20/day, and we had no issues. They gave us warning that there would be construction noise during 9 - 4 pm , but it didn't bother us since we kept busy with outside activities. Visited the pool twice, it was rather crowded on weekend, but quiet when we went back on Tuesday. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Ottawa.

Les Suites was in a perfect location if you want to see the Parliament, Senate and Art Gallery of Ottawa.
The newly renovated rooms where great and having a kitchen and laundry room was awesome, especially with being in the byward market where restaurant food prices were quiet high for the quality of the food you get.
Been to Ottawa quite a few times and must say that food choices are not that great , only seems to have fast food or pub food everywhere.
Elevators at the hotel are slow so expect to have long wait times , I would say this is the only draw back to this hotel.
As for the area it's in. Trudeau should be embarrassed that he hasn't cleaned up the area. Lots of homeless and addicts everywhere.
It really has become a sketchy area in the last few years.
With so many tourists visiting the area its truly Saud that Mr. Trudeau hasn't done better to resolve this problem.
This defintely gives a bad rap to Ottawa and Canada itself and the living conditions it provides its citizens.

Dear 406impacts, Thank you for your excellent review of our newly renovated Modern Suites and their amenities! We have 3 elevators and during periods of high occupancy, they will seem slower especially during prime check-in and check-out times. As with many downtown areas of large cities, we have some socio-economic challenges however we are still a very safe city. Rest assured that our Mayor is well aware of these challenges. Good Morning, Tracey, We have 4-cup drip coffee makers in our suites.
$30 per day!!!
When we were there the restrictions were just starting to be lifted. So some things were not accessible that maybe now. However when we were there the pool/gym area was open but they did have hours of usage. I believe the pool hours were 10am-10pm. The gym hours were 7am to 10pm. As for the rooms. I’m not sure if they are all updated or not. I do know the suite we were in was updated and very nice. Hope this helps.
I believe so. We just made coffee using the coffee machine; so didn't actually use it.
