This home is beautiful and charming. Breakfast is wonderful and included fresh baked muffins. The room was spacious and fully equipped. Richard is a terrific host with much knowledge of the area and attractions.
It was important to me to choose a B&B this trip. Using the basic search on my computer, there are a number of them in the general location I was after. I stopped looking when I hit The King Edward! This place took the top of my list of places to call first for 2 reasons. The first was the place has a dog! How can a person who runs a B&B be anything but nice and trustworthy when there is a dog in his advertisement!? The second thing that tipped the scale was the fact that there is parking on site. I do not like parkades nor do I like the phrase "first come first serve." I was not disappointed with my choice. Richard had a room for me. Sandy is well mannered and very sweet. Lovely home! Comfortable room! Lots of breakfast and good coffee in the morning. My daughter is only in 2nd year U, so I imagine there will be more over-nights for me, certainly at The King Edward. I had walked past the BnB on a couple of other occasions when staying with family in Ottawa. This time on September 2nd and 3rd we wanted to be close to the University and city so had the opportunity to stay at this lovely BnB. The King Edward is a very special place, only 2 rooms to rent so very personal and felt very safe during this time of Covid concerns. Richard has been the owner for many years and runs a great place. For the price it is a great deal, super location, very comfortable room and generous breakfast. I think my favourite areas are the private balcony and the backyard oasis. Sandy, his dog, is very well behaved and great to snuggle with if you choose. I look forward to returning soon!
Our stay at the Auberge The King Edward Bed and Breakfast was excellent – a charming building with character in a very convenient location. Richard was a kind and attentive host, giving us a wonderful overview of the attractions and events around Ottawa including directions. Breakfast was lovely, freshly baked, and we also enjoyed the company of Sandy, the resident golden doodle. We would highly recommend staying at the Auberge and look forward to visiting again!
Richard is a wonderful, courteous and kind host who truly made us feel "at home" in his beautifully kept century house. The Green room was comfortable and well-appointed, with extra pillows and blankets. The cosy bathrobe was a lovely and welcome touch. It was a real pleasure to stay here and to meet Richard and his lovely, sweet dog, Sandy. So nice to find a true B&B that offered a traditional hot breakfast!
