Hyatt Place Ottawa - West is often celebrated for its modern atmosphere and stylish, comfortable rooms equipped with cozy furnishings. The hotel's convenient location offers easy access to downtown, and its amenities, including a pet-friendly approach and modern bathrooms, are generally praised.
However, opinions on service and value are divided; while some guests appreciate the helpful staff and reasonable rates, others have experienced disorganization and questioned the breakfast offerings. Cleanliness is mostly commended, though it's not without its detractors.

Immediately upon entering Miriam & Manjeet acknowledged and processed our check-in with a friendly, professional manner and with great ease.
The property is less than 4months old and the rooms are quite spacious, well-appointed with every small details having been thought of right down to the abundant# of hooks for hanging up masks, jackets, bags, etc, to the ironing board storage in the bathroom shelving so not to topple over in the closet as usually happens and to the magnets along the mirror frame for any notes one may need to afix during their stay, esp for business travellers....this came is quite handy for someone like Me who uses alot of sticky notes...like Alot!!

We selected this hotel for its cleanliness and most recent brand new opening and excellent rates. When we arrived, the hotel had only been open for 5 weeks. Talk about resolving any COVID related anxiety concerns! This was our family's first stay away from home since the pandemic started. We were relieved! Our double queen room was nicely outfitted with a seating area which was handy for eating our take out meals indoors (although the patio was available it was convenient to eat in the room). This seating area also turned into a fold out bed which was ideal for our teens. The desk and huge television and seating area could make anyone feel quite comfortable if they were to stay in Ottawa for an extended stay. The washroom was super clean and accessible. Hairdryer and clothing iron, coffee maker were also available No microwaves in room. Breakfast was included and is always appreciated. We could eat on the patio but chose not too. Coffee and tea were available as well. We stayed for 2 nights and there were different breakfasts for each day: fresh fruit (apple) and a fruit cup, protein (yogurt) and granola to make a parfait and a juice box or instead of the granola choice was an oatmeal cup with the same sides. Day 2, consisted of a croissant, jam, juice box, apple and yogurt with a little fruit cup. We were more than satisfied with our breakfasts. This location is about 15 km from the downtown but it is a quick drive along the 417. Since Ontario was only in Stage 2 of re-opening finding restaurants in the area that were open past 9:00 pm was a challenge as we arrived later, unpacked and had to decide where we were going to eat. We found the Mongolian Village Grill in the Fresh Co plaza less than a 1 km away and it was open until 10 pm. We received excellent and speedy service. We have not eaten here in years as many of these restaurants have closed in SW Ontario. So much variety and an enhanced Tex Mex menu was a family pleaser. Being able to walk up and get a seat on the patio was welcomed. From our drive around, there are a couple of breweries also in the area that have patios that are open later. Two nearby grocery stores make it a good option too to keep prices more affordable for families to make picnics. Watch the mosquitos at dusk if you are on the patio ! A gas station and many small plazas could meet your family's needs. There was a Canadian Tire in Bell's Corner very close to our hotel. Loved the local artwork!

We used this hotel because of a promo special and we were not disappointed. Really lovely new hotel, very clean, well appointed and nice modern design. Room was very comfortable, small seating area, gorgeous bathroom and nice small coffee machine. The hotel is a good location if you are in transit as it’s very near the main highway, there is a restaurant being built in its parking lot but is not open yet. There was a small bar and restaurant off the lobby and the breakfast room was clean with a nice continental breakfast. Staff were great at putting together a bag of breakfast treats to take with you, if you choose to eat on the run. French toast, yogurt, variety of cereals, apples, fruit juices, fruit salad and coffee or tea.

I stayed at the Hyatt West Ottawa this past weekend on Sat, Jan 15th, and it was a pretty disappointing stay. When we arrived to check in around 9 p.m., there was nobody at the desk and no bell to ring, so we waited several minutes for someone to come out. I am recovering from ankle surgery and on crutches right now, so standing around waiting to be checked in was not the best first impression. Crutches or not, when you check into a hotel and it's a ghost town with no staff to be seen anywhere, that is not very professional or welcoming. When we did check in, the reception staff let me know that we would not be receiving a king bed (as booked in our reservation) because there were none available, but rather, two queen beds.I have not seen my partner in over a month but didn't want to make a fuss so we said we would take the room with two queen beds, as long as it was close to the elevator (as per our original request since I am on crutches and didn't want to have to go too far to get to our room).
I also understand that there is a pet fee of $50, and as someone who travels a lot and stays in many hotels all over Canada, this is the first place I have ever been with my dog where there was no dog bed (the Kimpton. the Thompson, the Hilton- all of these have a dog bed and two/three mentioned do not charge a fee for a pet under 40 lbs ( we have a small dog)). The reception staff also never offered us a dog bowl or the supposed "treat" that makes up part of the $50 fee. I was not pleased. Take note of what other hotels are offering and often for less than $50 if not entirely free.
When we did get to our room, it had not yet been cleaned, and it was a king bed. Again, this was 9 p.m. so to be sent to a room where the sheets were undone, the throw pillows were tossed around, multiple keycards were strewn about and there was an open soap and tissue on the bathroom counter, was completely unacceptable. I took pictures and called down immediately to see if we could have our room changed to one that was clean and properly ready. This resulted in the receptionist sending someone up with a new key for us to go to another room on the 5th floor, again- needlessly moving around the hotels with my cast and crutches. I don't even understand why the receptionist communicated that there were no king beds left in the hotel when we checked in and then proceeded to have us go to, not one, but two, rooms that had a king bed.
Overall, super disappointed with this place. Wrote to management several days ago and still have not heard anything back yet.

Thank you for the review. In regards to the pet fee, the fee is to cover the extra cost of cleaning the room. We do have dog treats and water at reception but do not provide a dog bowl or bed as discussed with you and our team prior to your stay. We are looking into the other issues you have described. We look forward to renewing your faith in our brand.

Stayed two nights and overall very disappointed. Maybe I expected more being a Hyatt. Website stated pool was at 50% occupancy and when we arrived we were told it was closed so our son was less than impressed! Rooms were not very clean and no extra COVID cleaning measure in place, Breakfast was cold and no microwave in room. Simple things like shampoo/conditioner and coffee were the cheapest possible. Gov't rate was not a huge savings and there was a $36/per day municipal accommodation tax. Wouldn't go back

The room was clean and tidy upon arrival. We learned by the 2nd day that the maid service doesn't make up the bed, clean the bathroom, provide clean glassware, or vacuum if you're staying multiple days. They'll simply replace your towels and walk away. If they offered a discount for multi-day stays, the reduced service makes sense, but as we paid full rate each day, we would have expected a full clean each day too.

+1
I recently stayed at the all new Hyatt Ottawa West with my dog. So new that it was only there second day open. The hotel is situated on Moodie Drive, just off of the 417; 2 minutes from DND Carling Campus and no more than 10 minutes to downtown Ottawa.
The lobby is just stunning. Upon entry, we were both greeted and provided fantastic service. They even offered Kobe a dog treat. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and provided us with all the details we required for our stay, offering us many local dining options if we chose not to eat at the hotel, nearby attractions and details regarding the hotels COVID safety policy.
Our room was on the sixth floor and what a stunning sunset we had overlooking the Gatineau Hills. The rooms are bright and airy. With plenty of space and all the necessary amenities. The television is extremely large and the chrome cast was an excellent surprise, allowing me to watch my favourite shows
We ordered from the room service menu. Due to COVID we had to go downstairs to pick everything up; but the food was absolutely fantastic and extremely reasonably priced.
The bathroom had a large walk in shower and all necessary amenities. Water pressure and water temperature where awesome.
Just outside of the hotel, they have a pet station with doggie waste bags and a garbage can, an excellent touch. Kobe and I noticed that the TransCanada Trail is literally on the other side of the parking lot and through a small patch of woods. It made for an excellent pré-bed time walk. Lots of birds and a great way to clear our minds before bed
Due to COVID the gym, pool and patio were closed; however we did walk by them and I was extremely impressed at the calibre of equipment and amount that they had for a hotel gym. What I found truly reassuring was seeing an AED outside of the gym and plenty of First Aid kits and hand sanitizer stations.
Thé breakfast area was large and extremely comfortable looking.
I honestly could not have asked for a better stay. Allison and her team truly went out of there way to ensure that not only my stay was wonderful, but also Kobe. If you are travelling to Ottawa for any reason; I cannot recommend this place enough. Extremely clean, great location, awesome beds, pet friendly and they really make you feel comfortable and appreciated

Thank you so much for your great review. You are our very first review as we have only been open 2 nights. Thanks for sharing so many of the great features our hotel has. Your dog Kobe was so loveable by our entire team and we are glad you appreciated the small touches me made for our 4 legged guests. It was great to watch him chow down on his chicken fingers dinner you spoiled him with from The Placery. We look forward to welcoming you and Kobe back again in the future.

We quite enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Place Ottawa West. It's conveniently located near the highway, and just a quick 15 min drive to downtown. I found it a much better value compared to staying downtown and paying expensive parking fees. The room was very modern and well appointed, especially loved the comfortable sectional to hang out after a long day of exploring around the city. It felt like home. I found my mattress was sagging a bit so it wasn't the most comfortable, but otherwise everything else was great. Breakfast ends quite early so unfortunately we weren't able to take advantage of it during our stay. Would definitely stay here again

An absolute nightmare. I booked two rooms for some of my wedding guests. I called after booking to make sure they were booked and put the guests names on the bookings. The first guest arrives and has no issues checking in. There's a change in shift in between, the second guest arrives tonight and is barred from entry. They asked the guest to pay for the room again. I spoke to them on the phone, they said they would check them in. My guest calls me and says they still won't check them in. I had to go over there the night before my wedding to supervise their check in. It was remarkable the hoops they had us jump through.
Addendum: After I wrote this review, I learned that they charged both rooms to one of the guests. So I had to go in again and give them my card again, for them to correct things again. This hotel is the only aspect of my wedding that I regret.
Addendum 2: After I went in, they charged my guest AGAIN. I called, and they said they would send a form today to be filled. Didn't get anything. At this point, I feel like they are trying to be malicious.

The room was very cold. The solution suggested by staff was to turn AC off altogether which made the room really stuffy. Check in and check out had its problems. The breakfast room is too small, no covid protocol is possible. The breakfast buffet selection is what you would expect from a Hyatt but it is poor quality (cheap OJ, stale bread, bad coffee)

So sorry for the delay, I did not see a notice of this question .We currently offer a bagged breakfast to go that incoudes, fruit cup, whole fruit, juice, yogurt and a rotating offering of an additional item including french toast or breakfast sandwich or croissant or bagel etc. Hope this helps.
