I booked here with a good nightly rate and was pleasantly surprised at the nice, large room I got.
This location is good for a visit to Ottawa by car. You can't walk to too many places from this location, but most areas of Ottawa are a short drive away. The hotel offers free parking. When you check in, you get a card to put on your dash and then park your car in an underground parking lots. The spaces (and manoeurvring room) are a bit tight but manageable. I had no problem finding a space close to the elevator during my three night stay.
Staff were pleasant. Bedding/pillows were comfortable. Did not hear noises from other rooms.
Internet quality was poor at times.
Overall, a good (better than expected) stay at a Courtyard. I would stay here again.

I am so surprised at negative reviews for this hotel. Our stay for the last few days has been really excellent. The check in was smooth and the staff helpful. We had need for a separate bed for one person for only one of our nights. When we called to book at last minute there were no rooms left with two beds or a pullout. So we were prepared to make do with a king bed and a non-pullout couch. When we arrived, they had recalled our need for something more and had grabbed a cancellation when it occurred and moved it to our account. The room was extremely spacious, clean, very comfortable. At check in we reminded them we would need extra towels for one night and by the time we got to our room there were lots of towels, toiletries and coffee in our room. I loved having a second sink in the room with a spacious counter, small fridge and microwave. The location is 15 minutes from Byward Market and ten minutes from the university. Lots of grocery stores and other amenities in the area as well as restaurants and cafes. Parking is both above ground and below and is free which is a rare find at Ottawa hotel. A very good stay.

I liked pretty much everything about this hotel. Although it was a bit out of the way from downtown, the train station was within walking distance and Uber to downtown was sub-$15. The front desk team was great, and my upgraded suite was huge with a nice kitchenette. Underground parking was free and convenient as well. Breakfast was okay albeit a bit overpriced, and Courtyard’s new “Bistro” style was not my favourite, although to no fault of this particular hotel. Renovation has started on the higher floors and I have to say it’s definitely overdue for one, in fact this is the only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars - the current state of the rooms was just unacceptable in 2022. Once the renos are completed, this hotel will tick all the boxes for a 10/10 comment card.

I've stayed in this hotel three times in 2023, the most recent in September. I'd describe it as "hit and miss." The staff at the front desk are courteous and friendly, and the hotel has a great lobby. However, the doors to the rooms slam and when you combine that with inconsiderate guests, you may be up all night long. That happened to me in early 2023. Thankfully, my last two visits have been more quiet, so I may have had bad luck my first visit.
The real challenge with this hotel is the restaurant. My first trip there I ordered the vegetarian burger and when it arrived, it was so overcooked that it was crunchy. I sent it back asking for a new burger, but what they brought back wasn't even fully cooked - it was still cold from the freezer in the middle. By that time, the rest of my party had finished their meal, so I told the server to take the burger away and that I would just eat the side course. When it came time to pay the bill, I was appalled to discover that they charged me for the side - despite it coming with the burger and all of the problems with the meal. Hotel staff later apologized, but did nothing to remedy it.
My most recent visit, we decided to try the breakfast buffet. We must have timed our visit poorly because nearly all of the food, from the eggs to the bacon, was cold. It was as if the burners had been turned off. Only the oatmeal was hot. As we finished our meal, we saw kitchen staff finally changing the foot, but it was too late.
My advice about this hotel is to manage your expectations. It is a good location for staying in the east end, they have a decent selection of wine at the bar, but the food is underwhelming and your floor may be noisy.

This hotel is a 4-4.5 out of 5. It's not a luxury hotel, but it's top-of-the range in its class. This is not an upscale hotel for a romantic get-away, but it is very serviceable and offers excellent value for those on a budget.
Positives: Very clean rooms. (Shout out to our cleaner Valentyna). Very spacious rooms and roomy bathroom with very well thought out design and layout, with attention to details to ensure a comfortable stay for those who are there for various reasons -- work, with families, etc. Kitchenette in room with microwave, fridge, sink, coffee/tea maker, clean cups. Beds are sufficiently comfortable Friendly, helpful staff Lots of free parking Short 10-minute drive to the sites in the centre. Quiet rooms
So-So's: Pool is very small and was crowded -- though it was heartwarming to see so many young and multigenerational family groups staying at the hotel socializing and having fun and spending quality time together. Breakfast available on site -- sausages were of poor quality, and overall food is definitely not gourmet, but there are enough healthy options if you stick to the unprocessed foods like boiled eggs, fruit, etc. Not much around, it seems, in immediate vicinity to walk to
Overall a good stay.

Very good hotel we stayed there 3 nights. Very welcome The room is very large but too bad that the second bed is very small lucky it was for small children. The bathroom consists of a bathtub with all the products at will.
The saltwater pool is very good and clean.
We had no breakfast in the hotel in view of the advice of other travelers. There's a starbucks a few feet away. We tested the restaurant of the hotel and I advise you not, the food is really basic c is cheap and expensive frozen.

I'll start with all of the positives. The rooms were spacious, lobby super well maintained and the front of house staff especially those who bring assist with bringing up any orders are just amazing. The bell hop team was on point and I might be forgetting his name- Majed? - was just brilliant. A gem.
But...there's a reason I won't come back. Even though we are bonvoy members. The cleaning staff.
We had asked for late check out as our conference had ended and we needed time to finish meetings. Me and my colleague ( 2 rooms ) first gst a knock at 11 45 asking why we hadn't left. So, I calmly explained and you could tell the staff member was annoyed. At about 3 45 pm, as we are packing up, we both get knocks saying we need to leave and get out NOW so they can clean and not get delayed. We had until 4 pm and were going to depart. Regardless, my colleague got sworn at and I was told to just get out or they would walk in at 4 regardless. Look, I get it, you have a schedule. But, I do have a late check out and for a reason and price too .
Disappointing to experience this.

We have been staying at this hotel since 2013 and it has definitely gone downhill. It needs a complete renovation.
The HVAC system in our room didn’t work. The temperature never went below 73F/22.7C and went as high as 75F/23.9C. We called and maintenance came up. The first person wasn’t able to fix the issue and the second said they couldn’t do anything as the system was very old and needs to be replaced!
My husband is a Lifetime Gold member with Marriott and is supposed to be given an upgrade, if available. The first and second rooms they gave us upon checking in were facing the roof and HVAC units! The front desk had the nerve to say this was an upgraded room….don’t think so it looks exactly like the photos on their website for the room we booked (king room with fridge, microwave).
The rooms are old and dated, with a thin and uncomfortable mattress, tiny, dirty and sagging sofa, the fridge door scratches the cupboard and counter next to it and you have to push it hard to close it. The carpet needs cleaning and the orange colour scheme is outdated.
Upon checking in the front desk didn’t advise no housekeeping. We don’t require housekeeping however if they know you’re staying for a few days you should be asked if you’d like coffee supplies for your whole stay instead of having to go to the front desk every second day to ask for it. Once again the hot tub was still not in operation, this is since September.
We ended up cutting our stay short due to the sauna like room temperature and won’t be staying here again even though it’s in a good location and reasonably priced it’s not work staying in an uncomfortable room.
We’ve stayed at other hotels in Ottawa and would recommend the Fairfield Inn at the airport, Embassy Suites or Hilton Garden Inn over this location.

I usually enjoyed my stays in Courtyard hotels, but this time, we did not.
Let's start with the positive. Staff was courteous and professional. It take a bit longer to check in but employee was in training so I didn't mind.
When we arrived to our rooms, it went down hill.
The sink was filled with a discussing black sludge. For a room that was supposed to be cleaned before hand, it was disappointing. We had to go back to the reception to change room.
The new room was problematic too. The plumbing in the shower was not working well (impossible to keep the shower valve all the way up). Housekeeping forgot to put shampoo (so we had a bottle of shower gel, a bottle of conditioner and another bottle of shower gel).
An old hand towel was still on the shower curtain railing.
In the second room, an accessible one, the showerhead was not compatible with the stand so it didn't stay in place.
Finally, the buffet breakfast was $20 per person for food that was lukewarm at best.
Overall, it's disappointing from a Courtyard, as most of my previous stays in these hotels were great. It did not met the standard of other hotels in this brand.

Being a Marriott Gold Elite member, I got upgraded automatically from a basic King bed room to a studio suite. This was offered without asking and a wonderful uograde!
The room is huge with a lover seat, 3 seater sofa. Microwave, full size refrigerator. 2 TVs, Keurig machines with k pods and coffees. There is eVennan iron board inside the closet. The bed is very comfrotable, I didn't want to get up once I laid down for a short nap. Bathroom is clean and roomy as well.
My room is actually next to the elevator and I could hear the chain sound but I didn't hear it at night when I sleep.
The hotel is under construction, so the restaurant is not available for dine in. I did call for take out, I had to call 3 times for someone to answer and there aren't delivery option. I ordered the baked salmon and it was great.
The parking is underground. So it is good in winter and not having to walk outside to get the car and feel more secure that parking outdoor overnight
I didn't use the gym or pool. Receptionist was helpful and I m allow to stay until 2pm because of my gold elite status.
