We spent two nights at the Arlington Hotel while on a three day cycling tour along the rail trail which passes through Paris. We had a very nice meal on their shaded outdoor patio and a quiet continental breakfast each morning which was included in the price of the room. We ate at Stillwaters one night - a restaurant within 100 yards that has a beautiful view over the Grand River.

Staff were very pleasant and responded to our request for extra towels and ice faster than any other place I've stayed at. We stayed in the Monte Python room - my grandson's favourite comedy troupe. Although there was a bit of traffic noise, it died down late at night and we had a very good sleep both nights.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Arlington Hotel.
Such a cute place to stay. Highly recommend a stay here if you need to be in the Paris/Brantford area. It’s a beautiful vintage designed and decorated hotel in downtown Paris close to lots of shops and restaurants and the gorgeous Grand River is a great photo op.

The staff were lovely, friendly, fun and accommodating. There is also a lovely restaurant on the premises which is very convenient and a bar. Reservations for the restaurant are recommended to insure seating, can get quite busy at lunch and dinner. As a guest you are offered a complimentary continental breakfast served until 9:00 am on weekdays. We aren’t early risers so we didn’t get to experience it unfortunately.

The corridors to the rooms are nicely decorated and have some very interesting artwork on the walls that appear to be for sale if you find one you like. Even the Elevator doors are cute.

Love the idea of the themed rooms at the Arlington. Our “Maya Angelou” themed room, was basic but very clean, cosy and tastefully decorated with framed photos of Maya Angelou throughout various stages of her life. There was a slight view of the Grand River and view of some of the shops from our room windows. Loved the California shutters. Lovely sparkling clean bathroom with beautiful pedestal sink, bathtub/shower, toilet of course and nice white fluffy towels with lovely amenities. Bed and pillows were comfy. Large closet and drawer space for your clothing and personal items and a TV. There was no kettle, coffee maker or fridge in the room but we found out that you could request these items in the room if you wanted them which we thought was extremely accommodating of the hotel. Not sure what their policy is on housekeeping but we didn’t see anyone come to our room but we only stayed two nights and didn’t require this service so it didn’t matter to us.

The only negative thing we can say was that with our room facing the main street was noisy in the evening hours from vehicles, music from bars, sirens, etc. but generally quieted down around midnight so it wasn’t a huge problem.

We hope to return to this lovely hotel in the future where we felt welcomed and comfortable. Don’t think I have ever felt this welcomed in a hotel before. Thank you Arlington for an enjoyable stay.

My husband and I decided that we needed a little pick me up road trip and since Mary Maxim in Paris was one of the stops we were making, we decided to turn it into a night away getaway. And I am so glad we did. Paris is a beautiful little town along the Grand River with wonderful shops in its downtown. Christmas stores, book store and you cannot go anywhere downtown and not visit the bakery and chocolate stores. The hotel is conveniently located downtown so you are right in the heart of the stores and shops.
I hadn’t heard much of anything prior about the Arlington hotel but it intrigued me. Built in 1851, this historic hotel has so much character and each room is individually decorated depicting different authors. It has the feel of an old hotel from gothic times but each room is renovated to give you that old hotel feel but all the comforts you would expect in any hotel. It is well kept and clean and is full of charm.
We stayed in the Hunter Thompson room, an author I wasn’t really familiar with, but the room came recommended. It is a beautiful bright room with a Juliet balcony on one side. Not overly large but definitely more than enough room for us. The bed was comfortable, the chairs as well. We played some Rolling Stones on the turntable.
All of the staff was so friendly, attentive and accommodating and did everything above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable.
We also always felt safe during these covid times as the staff exceeded safety measures.
There are some street noises where we were but we found the hotel itself to be quite soundproof and we enjoyed a quiet night in luxury.
Now for the restaurant E.d.i.t. We were feeling very lazy and decided to have room service. While the menu isn’t huge, there is more than enough to satisfy everyone. I had the mushroom gnocchi and I can’t rave about it sufficiently. It was a good sized portion and beyond delicious. So yummy and chocked full of mushrooms. It’s worth going back just for that alone but we enjoyed everything about the hotel. My husband had the Arlington burger which was also delicious and the seasoned fries were awesome.
A nice continental breakfast is available in the morning before you check out.
Were there any ghostly experiences that are rumoured to be part of the hotel’s charm? I’ll never tell. But we will definitely be back.

We stayed at the Arlington for one night to celebrate our anniversary; everything was fine, but honestly disappointing given its reputation. Before booking we emailed back and forth to confirm the room we wanted (Stanley Kubrick) but upon checkin we were given Agatha Christie (the same tier of suite). We went back to the desk and were told the other room hadn't been cleaned and there were no housekeepers on duty (to his credit, the one person working at the hotel did offer to go clean it if we'd wait 30 mins). We didn't think that was a fair ask as there was nothing "wrong" with the room - plus we were uncomfortable with the room not being thoroughly cleaned by the more trained housekeeping staff so we declined. It definitely soured our stay. Because of Covid, not all of the room amenities or the themed props were available (understandable but this was not communicated clearly until we read a sign at check in). We have stayed at a few hotels during the pandemic and this seemed less diligent about cleaning and communication before arrival. We used their text service to confirm where to park but we skipped the included continental "serve yourself" breakfast. At a boutique hotel like this I expect more warmth from the staff but they barely acknowledged us. Overall, it was shabby/rundown - we could have stayed at one of the much nicer Vintage Hotels properties for a comparable price with much better value, service, and cleanliness.

Room is very nicely decorated, clean. Beds is comfortable.
Edit restaurant inside the hotel serves good dishes and the waiter was very friendly.
We booked an executive room with king bed & paid +$500 for the room.
The parking was full & we were told to go and park ½ mile away from the hotel.
I know they have limited space but that’s not what I expect when I have driven half a day & paid +$500.
I couldn’t find any water or coffee in the bedroom although the web site says there is.
I was in Ottawa at Le Germain hotel a few weeks ago & all rooms had plenty of water and coffee available. So I don’t think it was due to covid.
It’s big deal especially when we are going to find out that the continental breakfast service is a disaster. When you pay +$500 for a room , you expect a little more service & you think you are going to have a relaxing coffee time in the morning.
It was in fact the most disorganized breakfast experience ever. The breakfast is a buffet but you cannot help yourselves to anything even coffee & the lady serving you also had to look after the front desk & going in the kitchen refilling everything. She had to do it all by herself!!!
While she left to go in the kitchen to get some coffee ready, 2 guests arrived and helped themselves to everything and me I am waiting for her to come back to get a piece of fruit… there was a sign on the counter that says someone will help you but the sign was not ready visible. She came back & told them they couldn’t do that…
There are many other serving options they could have choose from like making a breakfast box available for the guests or having one staff member working by the buffet.
I didn’t see a manager around to talk to & didn’t want to get mad when I realized the damage was already done.
Overall it was a disappointment and not worth $500.

Our stay at the Arlington was disappointing. We booked the Stanley Kubrick room for one night, but upon check in were told that someone else wanted it for 4 nights, so they gave us the Emily Dickinson room instead. Given that the Stanley Kubrick room already had the 4 night guests in it, we couldn’t have it. The Emily Dickinson room had good views of the street, but the room itself was lacklustre and the bathroom was like that of a chain hotel, not a boutique hotel. Even with the air conditioner on the lowest setting, it was hot and stuffy. Coffee is on the list of included room amenities, yet our room lacked a coffee maker or any directions as to how to get one. The bed was comfortable and the location of the hotel is within walking distance of shops and restaurants.

We stayed two nights around our daughter's wedding, which was hosted in the Arlington event space, The Dominion Telegraph Centre.

The staff went above and beyond to cater to our every need! The charm of the Arlington was a memorable atmosphere, and our guests truly enjoyed their themed guest rooms. The food was just excellent! Every staff member interacted with us on a warm and personal level and they made sure EVERYTHING was perfect.

I can be tough to please; this place and its people provided the most memorable experience. I will return soon just for fun. What a gem.

We booked the Edgar Allen Poe room on the third floor #307. We paid $158 for one night. I picked the room because it’s purple. It faces the side street. Check in was quick and efficient. I like the elevator had a picture of a tartus in the outside The room was clean. There automatic air conditioner. Tv is inside a large armoire and it’s basic cable with 37 channels. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were very soft. I picked this hotel because I liked the theme that 24 rooms were all different and showcased a novelist from different time periods. The bathroom is a bathtub/shower and it’s an ok size with a window that opens. There’s a complimentary breakfast but be sure to fill out the card at the front desk before 8pm. They will bring it to your room from 6-8am. The best time to visit this town is a Saturday, when everything is open. There is a restaurant on the main floor. But you should make reservations. The one thing I didn’t like was that this hotel is on the Main Street around three intersections and it was very noisy all day with motorcycles and cars. Bring a sound machine. There is no coffee maker in the room or a fridge. This is a very old hotel and there is no fitness room or swimming pool. It is in the heart of the town which is said to be the prettiest town in Ontario.

We are given the Virginia Woolf room, small pink room with a few depressing pictures of a depressed lady. The room was dusty, and actually dirty. The chairs had food in the seat crease, probably for quite some time. I had to shower after leaving this room! We had no fridge, coffee, tea or bottled water!! I get precautions for covid but to take away these items is a disgrace. Small tv tucked into an old oversized armoire so sound was terrible, had to call the receptionist to have it sorted twice. She is the reason we gave this place 1 point.. breakfast was a joke, muffin and coffee/tea from an overwhelmed receptionist. Paris is beautiful, won't be back to this overpriced place.

We chose to stay in Paris almost at random - we were looking for a fairly priced, dog friendly hotel in a quiet scenic area. The Arlington in Paris surpassed our expectations. The hotel is clean, well located with quirky themed rooms. We stayed in the Leonard Cohen room which was a good size with a bath etc. There is no fridge in the room but one can request water & ice from the reception. Michelle at the front desk was particularly helpful in aiding us to find local attractions. From the hotel one can walk to a nearby trail overlooking the Grand river or visit the local shops. There are a few restaurants in Paris, including one in the hotel. Continental breakfast is included in the room rate; it's nothing fancy but enough to start the day - boiled eggs, coffee, cereal and breads. The room was not serviced during our stay (ostensibly for covid reasons) but I believe had we requested we could have had the bed made etc. I would definitely recommend the Arlington to visitors to Paris and environs!
