Booked this camping weekend back in the spring after being recommended by a relative. Although the owners can be seen working tirelessly watering trees and maintaining the grounds the bathrooms are filthy and unusable 90% of the time. Bathrooms and cleanliness of them should be a bigger priority than moving sand and watering trees. Our biggest concern was the endless foot traffic back and forth through our campsite all weekend long. We were located close to the event tent and given there are no barriers between sites, strangers proceeded to walk through our site for 3 days to the point a woman and her 4 kids were able to identify what we were eating for dinner they were so close! Obviously the owners cannot do much about the lack of decency or respect of it's patrons but clearly there needs to be a fence or clearly defined barrier between the sites to prevent this from happening. Random plantings that are not yet established are not enough. The more shocking part was that is was not just unknowing kids, but grown rude and inconsiderate adults, drunks and people who pretended to not understand our campsite was not a walking trail. We were offered to come back again which we declined but nothing was done to compensate for the horrible weekend we endured and at a rate far more than any provincial park. I feel a discount for having to share our campsite with 100+ other people would have been appropriate. This has been a lesson learned in never going to a private park ever again. We will stick to provincial parks where the patrons know this is not an acceptable way to conduct themselves and our family can actually enjoy our time away. I have never been so anxious to leave a park before in my life!…
The place is nice but the owner has an attitude problem, and lives on site. he likes to start fights with guests as he likes to drink, there is no shade, only a big open field for for camping and they are overpriced. better off going up the street to Sherkston shores or pick somewhere else altogether.
Recently booked 2 nights to stay at Windmill and called them to discuss our stay. They were not helpful at all therefore we canceled and ending up having to eat the money as they would not give a credit. Assuming they are low on funds and needed the money and that's why they did not budge at all with any accommodations. Very unfortunate because I am local and we were planning a little family time there and if it went well then we were going to plan a few more this summer. Will not be booking again.
What a beautiful park. The owners are friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Ellie. So accommodating and helpful. It is well maintained, clean and best of all quiet. Quarry has great swimming with clean water and fishing. Grandkids love jumping off the rocks. Fort Erie and Ridgeway are close by for shopping and restaurants. It is a little piece of heaven and we love it!
Bathrooms Not clean and only one!!! It's like you are camping in a Feild with the odd dead tree. Sites are not laid out well and NOT well kept. Staff young and very unorganized! It was truly the WORST camping ever. Over priced.
Would not spend a full week but for a weekend is pretty good. The stuff is great and they had many activities for the children like story telling or movie under the starts. The water was clean and warm and there were floating trampolines and slides which was fun. Quite over night and full of kids playing around during the day, so if you are family with kids you will definitely enjoy. I didn't like that there were no trees or very few and was quite dusty, so every time when the wind blows (like all the time) there was a cloud of dust flying around. Overall I will recommend the place.
This is a trailer park. Not a campground. With that said... our kids ( 5&7) had a great time. They played in the water/on the blow up water toys all day long. If this was not here I’m not sure what we would have done with them. On the other hand... open field camping is not our thing. We even have a trailer and I could hear horrendous karaoke all night that the resort put on... I’m sorry but no one wants to hear 40 year old intoxicated women sing at 1030-11pm. That’s a hard No. I would say this park is ok. If it wasn’t for the loud music at night and open fields we would return because our kids loved the quarry... & essentially we go camping for them.
As a first time trailer owner I set out with my son camping, we unforunately did not realize that we needed to book ahead in order to get electricity. The staff was extremely accomadating even allowing me to return with my previouslly paid voucher. On the day we were to change campsites to an electrical site my son unfortunately was called to work and would not be available to assit in the move until the afternoon. I was left to hitch and move a brand new camper which I had never done in my life, the owner of the park realized the level of my distress and volunteered to move my camper, he leveled and told me he wanted me to have a nice experience. I thank him and his staff so much for their smalltown hospitality and enabling me to have a wonderful vacation.
We were here a couple of weekends ago and were quite impressed by the size of the sites. Even the seasonals in the circle that outline the park had extremely generous sized lots. The people there were all very friendly. Check in was quick. We really didn't receive any paperwork regarding the park or any weekend activities , but I thought maybe that was because it is in September now. We were issued wrist bands, which I have never encountered while camping. I returned to the hut the next day and picked up some brochures for some park information and purchased a couple of camp mugs. Our weather was quite cool but I am sure the quarry is quite enjoyable during the warmer months. We booked a waterfront site and were quite impressed. We enjoyed the space and the view immensely. We arrived after a lot of rainfall so the park was under water in parts so it is hard to get a good assessment of things. There were a ton of day use spots with BBQ's. I am sure it gets quite busy in the summer. We took quite a few walks and there is some TLC that is needed here and there but for the most part it is a nice park. I was a little surprised to see that it was quite junky at the front of the park just past the gate, a little fencing to block that off would help clean up that area. We loved the bike trail just outside of the gates of the park, it is amazing and we took full advantage of it. We had Wifi at our site, it was fairly strong, so that is always a nice option to be able to check weather etc. We did like that park and would return.…
The owners have done a remarkable job in maintaining this property. Over the past year they have been busy adding more and more to the long list of recreational things-to-do here. The focus is on the quarry, of course, but there is everything else like a permanent table tennis table, bocce courts, horseshoe pits, basketball hoops, volleyball....the list goes on and on. The plot of sand is large and well maintained with lots of umbrellas and a few picnic tables. At this end of the property there is a large washroom building, which includes showers. Porta potties are located at the opposite end of the property.
