We were impressed in every way with this hotel. There was hand sanitizer outside, as well as inside the doors in the lobby, and most staff are wearing masks. We were wlecomed warmly by Jusin, who looked after checking us in. We are Choice Hotel Diamond members, and used our points for this stay. We were confused when we were asked to pay the outstanding sales tax on our room. This has never happened in our 13 years with Choice. Justin called the manager, A.J., who was fantastic. We did not want to pay the tax, as we have stayed all through the U.S. and Canada using our points, and have never been asked to pay tax. They finally let it go, and we were happy with the outcome.

We booked a 2 bedroom suite for 5 nights, which was spotlessly clean! The room was well appointed, with a beautiful view of the river. There are sun shades, as well as blinds on all the windows. The bathroom was well stocked with everything you could possibly want, and huge fluffy bath sheets and towels. The lighted insets in the mirrors were amazing, and the rain shower was great. The beds were a little firm but comfortable with plenty of pillows. There were TV's in both bedrooms and also in the living room, and 3 air conditioning units with 2 thermostats. The bar area was well stocked with glasses, cups and saucers, as well as a microwave, fridge, and Nespresso machine with plenty of coffee choices.

The hallways are well lit, with lights that are motion activated. There was plenty of parking around the back, as well as a few underground spots. This hotel is perfect for those who want to enjoy the walking paths along the river, or just walk the historic neighbourhood with its old houses and churches.

This hotel excels in it's hospitality skills! One day when they were short staffed Carly, who was filling in, did an excellent job in making us feel like we were the most important guests, even while apologizing for not being able to help us with what we wanted. Every time we were leaving or coming back to the hotel we were greeted warmly. Before reprogramming our key in the morning, we appreciated that Justin cleansed his hands before giving us a new sanitized key card. .

The day we checked out we talked with Tracy who was a housekeeper and commended her for her outstanding work in cleaning the guest rooms. I told her that of all the hotels that we had stayed in, this was by FAR the cleanest! She also told us that because of COVID-19, they leave the rooms empty between guests before cleaning and sanitizing thoroughly.

The only negative was the walls could have used more insulation to muffle noise from adjoining rooms.

We will definitely return to this hotel.

My wife and I had a short stay at the Insignia as part of an end of summer getaway.

Upon arrival we were given a friendly and efficient welcome from the front desk staff and then quickly made our way to our room, consisting of a king bed, smallish bathroom, TV, pull out couch, minibar, robe, Nespresso coffee maker, and other amenities. The room was bright and clean.

I found the bed comfortable but the pillows a bit too squishy for my liking, but that's just a personal preference. The only true if small con was the noisiness of the in-room air conditioning.

Due to Ontario being in Stage 3 of the Covid19 pandemic response the hotel sanitizes and prepares your room before your arrival after which no staff will enter, meaning no housekeeping during your stay, which was fine by us and seems to be the most reasonable approach for keeping guests and staff safe. We had plenty of towels, toiletries, etc so it all worked out well.

There is an LCBO across the street for adult beverages. One block to the west is the waterfront trail at Bayshore Park, on which you can quite easily walk along the river to the marina and places like Alternate Grounds Dockside for lunch or dinner.

Further up the road is the lush if rather flat Sarnia Golf Club as well as the somewhat stoney Canatara beach, featuring water with aquamarine colours normally reserved for the Caribbean.

Overall the hotel is clean, modern, and of good value. I definitely recommend it.

As a normal Hilton Diamond could not stay there due to being sold out at the Hampton...wow was I lucky! Everything about this place is amazing. The rooms, bathrooms, the toiletries are L'Octaine, the linens are fabulous. They have water filtration units on the floors to get water. The staff at the desk, bar and restaurant are all top notch! You can walk to the water....or to the restaurants downtown. Simply stay here!!!!

Our biggest disappointment was the fact that they do not clean the room and resupply towels or glasses unless you request this at least 24 hours in advance. We were not made aware of this when we booked directly online nor when we checked in. We also would prefer a coffee maker instead of an espresso machine. For the price we paid we will not return as we believe there is better service at other local hotels.

From the time I pulled up to the hotel to my departure everything was great.the hotel is beautiful from the outside nice entryway . The staff was very nice and helpful with everything I needed parking was free . Free wifi fridge and microwave. The lobby was nice little sitting area led to the restaurant one of the 3 on site the art and decor through out the hotel are beautiful. Our room on the 3rd floor had a view of the river . The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. Tv has streaming service Netflix etc. A nepresso machine was a nice touch mirror with a light and a rain shower . Everything in our room was great . Walking distance to downtown sarnia about a 5-10 minute drive to point Edward and the beach and bridge park. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel and a good value for the price also. We plan to return in the future. 10/10.....

Mobility challenged people will not like this recently renovated downtown hotel. There is no ramp access to front door. Chair lift access to basement from outside must be operated by front desk staff. ALSO: Showers don't have stippled floor or grab bars. Therefore, unsafe.
BUT: Dining room (?under separate management?) was Excellent: Helpful staff; comprehensive wine list; interesting menu --- heavy on beef.

Dear Dave, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad you enjoyed the restaurant! Unfortunately due to being a historical property, our properly level is too high above ground level and does not meet the slope requirements for a ramp. Since building a ramp was not a option, we have installed lifts at the main entrance and at the pool/fitness centre entrance . We apologize for the inconvenience caused by waiting for the front desk agent to operate the lift. Due to safety issues, we cannot leave keys on the lift. In terms of shower grab bars, we do have accessible rooms that have them and we are in the process of installing them in all rooms. We appreciate your honest feedback and will use it to improve our services in the future. We sincerely hope that you choose to give us another opportunity to provide with a superior experience in the future.

We stayed at insignia Wednesday evening until Friday afternoon. The renovation is beautiful and very modern.
Their restaurant was just reopening but we got to order dinner and it was top notch.
Customer service went above and beyond, very helpful and courteous staff. Special thanks to Robert for taking care of us.
And it is dog friendly so we were able to bring our fur baby!
The cost was decent $119 room plus dog fee $5, and Holiday Inn Express was asking for $239!
We highly recommend staying here and we definitely plan on returning.
Thank you all so much!
Jen and JoAnne and Phoebe

Parking was located on either side of the hotel and had plenty of availability. To enter the hotel you must climb stairs to the front door; I did not see an accessible ramp anywhere. Check in was easy. There's a nice bar area with good selections of drinks. The bartender recommended the restaurant in the basement of the hotel and said they were the best steakhouse in town. It was a horrible recommendation - it took over an hour to get our meal once we ordered, and the salad I ordered came out 15 minutes after I received my steak. And the meat was almost not edible. After that experience, I had a couple of hours of work to do in my hotel room. However, the internet speed was so slow and inconsistent that working was impossible. After 4 phone conversations with the front desk and meeting them in another room to run a speed test, they finally agreed to move me to another room. The internet there was functional but still slow compared to many other hotels. The guest rooms are small, especially the bathroom. When you sit on the toilet, your leg literally overlaps the entry door to the bathroom. The carpets in the hallways are full of stains. And the hallways have random carts stored near the fire doors. The breakfast in the morning is good and consistent, with great service. This is advertised to be a Marriott "luxurious boutique hotel" property, but other than the pricing, the guest room experience felt more like a Motel 6.

We were here in December 2023 for a hockey tournament. I had been in touch with the hotel probably about 7 months prior to obtain group rates and also book private party rooms with catering for the team on the nights we we there. Everything was very streamlined and smooth. Lara and Karla were amazing to work with in the group bookings and events department right from the get go. The team loved the food and the party room set up which was perfect for us to be together. The location is perfect and we even caught the Santa Claus parade go right in front of the hotel. Every single staff member from check in to house keeping, to floor managers were so friendly and polite. They didn’t even have a problem with the hallway mini sticks which I have never seen in a hotel. Rooms were clean. I would just suggest staying on second or third floor to avoid noise from the lobby. Highly recommend it!

This is a very unique hotel. I love that there was no carpet on the floor. It was also very roomy considering it had two queen beds.

The bathroom was average size, though the vanity is very small. There really isn't room to leave any items there.

I appreciated that the shower included a handheld shower head. But the water pressure on the handheld was so weak! That made it pretty useless. The water pressure from the rain head above was decent though. But with a ceiling mounted shower, a fully functioning handheld is a must.

We had continental breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast itself was lovely. The service was also good. Unfortunately, they left a door to the outside propped open, so we had flies buzzing around us during breakfast. Not very appetizing. Unsure why they had that door open but that should be reconsidered in the future.

We stayed here using Marriott points. I probably would not choose to stay here again if I had to pay cash. I don't think the cost is worth it. If having robes in the room along with an espresso machine and an electric kettle are amenities that you're looking for, then this is the place for you.
