We are wrapping up our family staycation at the Delta. We choose the hotel for its location - good walking trails and views. We booked using a rate online that promised early check-in, reserved pool time, pizza/pop and kids eat free for breakfast in hotel restaurant. We were able to check in early - the app made it easy to check in and talk to front desk staff before arriving. We arranged a pool time for check-in day for 2 pm. Our children wanted to enjoy the pool. We were informed when we arrived that we would have the pool to ourselves - we were pleasantly surprised. Front desk staff reported that they were not familiar with the package but would have manager call to discuss dinner and exactly what else the package entailed. For good measure, front desk staff took down a time we may want our pizza ready for that evening. My husband called down at 5 to ask if they needed to know what type of pizza. At 6 pm we received a call that our pizza was ready for pick up in the restaurant - restaurant wanted to charge us when we picked up and I had to explain our rate and that it was included. I also had to enquire about the included pop. Informed by restaurant staff at that time that our pizza had been ready since 5:30 pm. Needless to say, the View restaurant’s pizza is not their specialty - pepperoni, chopped ham and hamburger meat sprinkled on top of cheddar cheese was not a delicacy. We live in a city with amazing Italian food - don’t let this be your pizza experience! Next morning, we stopped by front desk on our way for breakfast to arrange our pool time. We were told that we were misinformed about booking a pool time and we would have to call down or check in to see if the pool was available. Needless to say, what is the benefit of choosing a rate that was advertised as $40 more than the regular nightly rate if I have to wait for a pool time. And we are staying two nights! I understand if it was the morning we were leaving and it wasn’t included. We had our breakfast at the restaurant and after leaving I mentioned to my husband that I thought ‘kids ate free’. After chatting with the front desk they informed me that I needed to charge our breakfast to the room for ‘kids eat free’ to be included. Not one person who I spoke with at front desk, or chatted with online informed me of this stipulation. Why does not one person at the hotel know the ‘rate’ and why hasn’t the manager called us yet??! The lovely lady at the front desk (Bonnie) arranged for us to use the pool at 2 pm although we weren’t supposed to reserve a time but she must have felt guilty for the little info or misinformation we’ve been provided. Oh and our second night didn’t include dinner. I’m not sure why any one would choose this rate when I could have just booked a regular rate online for the same amenities. I wish they would comp us our second night’s rate because we literally had no additional benefit! Needless to say, hotel lobby was clean, rooms were clean with white linens and room had a mini fridge. You can hear the noise in the hallway quite easily. I’m not sure if they ran out of pack and play cribs but we didn’t receive our requested one for our stay. Hotel staff was seen cleaning and wiping things down often. Lots of sanitizer stations throughout the lobby area. My kids loved the pool. There is something to be desired about some of the corners of the pool area and the drains (++ hair in the drains and along the sides of the windows). There is a great view of the river from the hot tub. Families respected social distancing in the pool and there was a capacity limit that was strictly followed.…
Unwilling to offer more than one menu choice. When we mentioned there were four menu choices, they raised the price—$6 per dish. I had come here for the past 10years for our annual Christmas party with22people. We understand Covid-19 restricts tables and guests, but it should limit the kitchen. We have three organizations which will never go to the delta again. Thank goodness for the Water Tower in and North 82
Travelling across Canada, the Delta in Sault Ste. Marie was our first stop. Absolutely delighted with our stay. You know you’ve found a good hotel when you don’t want to leave. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the linens and pillows were top quality and everything was clean and well-maintained. We can’t say enough about the staff throughout the hotel. It was such a pleasure to find refuge on our long journey. The Caesar salad best ever! The quality of our meals was superb. Kudos to the chef!! We felt safe and were well taken care of all around. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks Everyone at Delta!
On a road trip from Toronto our fist stop was Sault Ste.Marie. We were delighted with our experience at the Delta - our room was most comfortable, heated bathroom floors, very comfy beds, linens, pillows- it was just perfect. Staff were so helpful. The restaurant has a glorious view overlooking the lake. Delicious coffee and breakfast. Very pleased with our experience and would highly recommend.
Traveled here during COVID 19 so we were concerned about cleaning protocols. To our great pleasure they seemed to have everything done right. Would recommend staying there during these troubling times.
