Cons:
I booked through booking.com and sent them an email asking about city bus connections. I did not receive a reply until 7 days later, one day before I was supposed to arrive. I have used booking.com before, and I usually get replies in 1 to 3 days. I had phoned directly and the nice Front Desk person answered my question but I should not have to make long-distance calls.

The room faced east and my friend found the street lights and early morning sun which came through the shutters and blind disturbing. When we complained at check-out, we were told you should have told us before and no one else has complained. Wrong answer. Right answer would be: " We will someone up to check shutters working properly and blinds not worn".

They charge a facilities fee (booking.com includes this under taxes), but as the swimming pool and the coffee shop is not available, and lobby partially under construction, they should not do this. They said the facilities fee was for maintenance, but isn't that what the regular hotel charges should cover.

Two small elevators for a large hotel; we usually found it faster to walk down from third floor.

When we got to room, and realized it faced parking lot and street, asked if we could move to west side or higher room. Told hotel was full. It did not appear full and even if it was, this was 2 pm and surely not everybody had checked in yet. Unless so many people know about street lights and eastern sun, and ask specifically for west side.

No safe.
Furnishings OK but not as bright and colourful as on website.

Two queen beds, but only two chairs in room, one desk chair and one easy chair.

TV channel guide on television showed channels but did not say what was on which channel at what time.

Good Points:

One light on table between two queen beds. Asked for another light. They could not do that but came promptly and moved floor lamp so by one bed so we both had lights. Light on table between two beds had two electrical outlets. Person who came promptly nice.

Could not get channel on television . They came promptly, also could not get it, and called provider who reset channel so available.

Four drawers: good for 2 people, but maybe not four. Closet did not have door but had number of hangers.

Had microwave and refrigerators. Near Freshco so could buy provisions for breakfast. Their own restaurant expensive but reasonably-priced Boston Pizza nearby.

We often visit Niagara to see friends and wineries but we almost also have to work while we’re in the area. This has made most AirBnBs and inns a bit challenging, due to a lack of decent working spaces.

This place fixes that. We got a 1 bedroom suite for about the same price as an AB&B and this one included a good sized desk and office chair in the bedroom, along with a large table in the next room. Perfect for both to work, even when one of us is on a call.

Bedroom is big and comfy with a TV. Living area is a bit worn and gloomy but also has a TV and, I think, a sofa bed.

There is a small kitchen area with mini fridge and small microwave. Also a Keurig with a couple of pods. You will need to bring plates, cutlery, dish soap, mugs etc if you are planning to eat anything more than burgers. Disposable plastic cups are provided. Bathroom is nice and includes Dove soaps and shampoos.

Breakfast is available in the restaurant downstairs or at the little cafe in the lobby. There is also a night club, a pool and a bowling alley.

That said, it’s still a Holiday Inn so it’s a budget property. But it’s clean, the staff are lovely and it’s close to the highway. Will definitely stay again.

Our stay was very good. We had a suite that was well equipped. It was very clean and comfortable. The living area had a couch and chair with a tv. There was a dining table for four. It also has a fridge, microwave and sink in the same room. There is a Keurig with a few pods, bring a kettle and milk or cream if you like hot drinks. There aren’t any plates, utensils here. The bedroom was separated with a door giving you a nice spot to watch tv if someone is sleeping. The large bathroom has a soaker tub and separate shower. There are many options in the area to eat, many within walking distance. The lobby has a place to get breakfast. With Covid restrictions it’s take away. We didn’t go but there is a roof top bar on the 6th floor. We would definitely stay here again.

Great place with lots of amenities around. Rooms are very clean. Bowling alley tied into the hotel which broke up the week at the end of a work day.
Was here for work for one week and would stay here again!!!
Lots of parking.
Never ate at the cafe inside but looks like a good place to eat at.

I had a really great time at this hotel.

With bowling, an arcade, a swimming pool and a great restaurant, what’s not to like?

The rooms are comfortable and spacious. I really loved the bathroom. It was clean and had great mood lighting. Soap was good too. The room decor is simple and sleek. The phone in the room even has a “Pizza” button!! How awesome is that!?

However I will note that the pillows are terrible and you may want to pack your own. The pull out couch is very uncomfortable so I would suggest packing some extra cushioning or even a sleeping bag.

The restaurant was very good and the menu offered some great items, making it hard to choose. I did notice that the staff were a bit “new” or flustered and at times slow. They seemed unsure of what they were doing at times. Luckily the manager was very attentive and caring and was often seen swooping in to save the day and rescue his staff. Cheers to that guy!

The arcade was a lot of fun and offered a great variety of games for both young and old. It even had an Aliens game. So look out kids, daddy’s gonna sneak away for a quick bug hunt!!

“Anytime, anywhere”

Everything is conveniently located within the hotel making this the perfect stay for friends or family and a laid-back relaxing holiday.

Formerly a unbranded hotel, but a St. Catharines fixture for many years, this property remains a premium location for hotel accommodation in the city. Excellent rooms, pleasant and helpful staff and a 'homey' sort of feel, although we were upgraded to a suite on an executive floor because of IHG status.
Especially recommended for weekday stays, as it is a favourite weekend stay spot for sports teams and can get a little more raucous on the weekends

Decent hotel, good location. Convenient onsite restaurant and entertainment complex.
Construction in lobby/pool but was not disruptive - was surprised to see them working on a weekend!
Room was slightly dated and the bathroom was on the small side, but was suitable for our 1 night stay.
Lesson learned and tip for others - if you wish to go bowling make sure you reserve a lane ahead of time!

The hotel has easy highway access and is 20 minutes from Vineland Wineries. The welcome is warm. Our room was renovated up to date. Comfortable bed. The restaurant staff at Ostin's is very professional and the food is good.

The only negative comment is that the elevator is slow and noisy when stopping at floors. We had the room next to the elevator and we heard "knocks" regularly. But not loud enough to disturb, we ended up getting used to it.

The hotel was probably nice when it was built but is in need of updating. Room was very dirty. Finger prints on mirrors and desks and heavy dust everywhere, wallpaper starting to peel off the walls, carpet felt like it hadn't been vacuumed in years. I pulled out a chair to sit on and was so grossed out with the filth I couldn't sit on it. Very disappointed. We used to be able to trust a Holiday Inn. The past few years we have noticed a decline in hotel cleanliness and upkeep across the board. Not sure what the problem is but we don't like to travel anymore because of this. We paid good money to sleep in a room that felt like a sleezy motel. They have a pool but didn't dare try it after seeing the dirty room. On the upside they are pet friendly.

We were able to get an early check-in which was nice, but our original key cards didn’t work. Got a new set and those didn’t work. Very frustrating when the front desk cannot properly activate door cards. The housekeeper had to get us a third set of cards.
There was a maintenance employee young man I bumped into two times: once while getting off the elevator; he didn’t even let me get out before barging in the elevator. The second time while holding takeout from a local fast food restaurant he mumbled “enjoy your junk.”

The pool is tiny with many patrons but the steam room was nice. We couldn’t use the hot tub as there were people in there with a cooler of beverages.

The plus to this hotel is having a connection to the bowling alley and arcade, which seems to be the only hot spot in town as it was very busy.

We were missing conditioner but the front desk quickly went up some.

Overall, if you want a bare bones minimal stay, this will do.

We rented two cars from Enterprise. We returned one car after hours to Enterprise (same street, just down the road a bit) and the other car, we were able to return to Enterprise at the airport. It's an easy drive to the Falls. Didn't have a chance to go the vineyards.
