The minuses: No closet, no dresser, so we had to leave all our clothes in the suitcases. The only mirror was an 8" x 10" one hung so high over the bathroom sink that all I could see was my eyes (I'm 5'5"). The shower curtain was too short to reach the bottom of the stall so water went all over the floor. There was no fan and the window had no screen so your choice was steam or flies. Since most people go to Stratford for theatre and it is nice to dress up, this was disappointing to say the least.
Though the room was supposed to be non-smoking, there was a heavy smell of smoke and Febreeze.
Friends who stayed at the same time, paid exactly the same amount, had a tiny kitchen, a table and 4 chairs, a walk in closet and very expensive sleigh beds. Luck of the draw, I guess!
We never expected a five star hotel, overall it was good, spacious rooms, well located,
service was good. Rooms have a TV, fridge and microwave and include simple breakfast.
Service: There were 2 people that I saw that worked there the female was nice but hard to understand. The male was very rude always interrupted when I was trying to ask for something I needed, very condescending to me and even hostile just because I asked nicely for clean towels after I had been using the same ones for over a week. He insisted that they were clean and refused to give me new ones. The man even said he gave me the best room and I should be happy with that as if he had an excuse not to give me fresh towels.
Location: The location was not bad but the people who were there seemed to be very creepy and just sat outside all night drinking.
Overview: Please do not rent a room at this motel. I've seen some awful places before but this was by far the worst. I had paid for 2 weeks but left after I was refused clean towels that was the last straw for me.
Insp. Mike Bellai said five people were arrested and drugs seized included methamphetamine, prescription painkillers OxyContin, Oxycocet, Percocet and morphine, marijuana and cannabis resin.
They're facing a number of charges including trafficking methamphetamine, prescription medication and marijuana, production of cannabis resin and possession of marijuana.
Arrest warrants were being issued Friday for another six people and Bellai said he expected they would be taken into custody over the next day or two.
Of the five people arrested, two were released on officer in charge undertakings, and the other three appeared in bail court.
The busts were the culmination of a three-month investigation dubbed Project Script, Bellai said.
Officers including the heavily armed emergency response unit executed search warrants at an apartment building at 45 Buckingham Dr., a Vineyard Village townhouse at 769 Downie St. and a room at the Rosecourt Motel at 599 Erie St.
A motel room was being used as a lab to extract the cannabis resin from marijuana shake using chemicals.
Bellai said more details would be released next week.
No one was injured in the high-risk takedowns.
We plan to draw this false advertising situation to the attention of the Consumer Protection of Ontario, and any other body that governs or rates motels in Ontario.
We booked this room through the Stratford Theatre website, so we mistakingly thought it would be a quality motel. Boy, were we wrong.
