We had friends visiting from the Netherlands who mentioned to us that they stayed at the Red Carpet in Lively. This would have been sometime around May 26 - 29. . They said they were charged $160 for the evening and to us this seemed to be very high.

In checking the prices , I see that the most expensive room is $101.75 and with tax added this does not come close to $160.

I received no reply to the e-mail I sent to the management about this so I could not forward an explanation to our friends about why they were charged so much. After all, they were on a motor trip vacation, were from outside of Canada and this really disturbed us to think that they paid this much in the Sudbury, Ontario (Lively yet!) area.

Going to stay here tomorrow night. Just need a clean and quiet place on our way further north. Sounds like a really good deal - looking forward to breakfast before we head out. Will definitely review this 'hotel' as it is a stopping point for many travelers.

The room was cheap, comfortable and clean but know that the hotel is very well worn. It was convenient in that it was outside the busy Sudbury proper. I would not recommend it for a family stay. The staff was pleasant but don't expect much out of them. The breakfast in the morning was very good and was included with our stay.

The staff does not seem concerned about this, i suspect they don't want to lose the money to get an exterminator in here. The bugs were crawling right across the comforter, i don't even want to know how many are probably under that "red carpet".

Don't stay here unless you want to bring some bites & little guests back home with you.

This is a decent motel with large rooms, fridge, microwave. Nice view out your window.
For $59.oo I got a nice room and a restaurant breakfast.
Free breakfast of 3 choices:
1. 2 eggs, toast, home fries and choice of meat.
2. French toast with the same trimmings.
3. Hot or cold cereal with fruit.
Pretty good deal for $59.oo

I booked a stay at the Red Carpet Inn on through an express deal on Priceline. It was labeled as a one star hotel, so my expectations were low to begin with. After staying here, I must dub this the master of the one star hotels. Yes, it could use some renovations, but the rooms were clean, beds comfy, and the Internet worked well. To top it all off, the hotel offers a free breakfast with meat, eggs, and home fries (this is unheard of in most 2 star hotels). This was the cheapest hotel I could find along the Transcanadian Highway between Saulte St Marie and Ottawa. If the opportunity allows, I will be back.

I stayed here and I liked it. The ppl were very nice and accommodating. It's a great deal for what you get. Close to Sudbury without a huge price tag. I would prefer staying a bit out of the way and not in the city anyways. The rooms were clean and spacious.

It's been exactly a month since we stayed at this motel. Let's start with how gross and out dated it is especially how gross the free breakfast is!! Don't think my dog would eat it. Then we were charged an unauthorized payment to my credit card we were told it would be refunded within 10 days. It's now a month later where my money?!?!? And the owner is a goof some days he's harry some days his name is jerry and some days he's the owner ! It depends how mad of a guest you r !

Overall this was a very good stop-over. The rooms, although dated, were very clean and the usual amenities were provided (incl. fridge). The beds were very comfortable. The room was very large with 2 dbl beds and desk and dresser. Although the highway was on one side and the train tracks on the other side, we did not hear any sound within the motel or outside. Continental breakfast was included in the very reasonable rate and included waffles. Do not be turned off by the entrance which looks like the motel closed down many years ago. The run-down appearance and the dated furniture are the only negatives I can ascribe to this motel. Recommended.

Me and a few of my friends went to Sudbury just to see some sights. We stayed at Red Carpet Inn for 3 days and had no troubles. The staff was nice, rooms were really clean and beds were comfortable aswell. Lastly there wasn't any noise at night and the rates are really reasonable .
