Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
The House of Kin prides itself on being able to provide a home away from home experience, at a low cost for people coming into Sudbury to use our medical services. We provide a clean, safe, caring environment for our guests. Regular hotel rooms at discounted rates are also available.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
With the prospect of a long-term stay in the area to undergo cancer treatment, I looked at lots of options. This property was recommended and turned out to be an excellent choice. Very clean rooms and common areas, certainly not fancy but comfortable. Covid had temporarily shut down the restaurant next door but plenty of choices within walking distance (and a Starbucks across the street), and Sudbury has many more options within a 10-minute drive.
The Northeastern Cancer Centre is a 30-minute walk (two km) so all in all, a great choice.

Our son was in the hospital and the room was just exactly what we needed. The bed was super comfortable and the room was spotless. All the staff we interacted with were great and were will to give suggestions on places to go and how to get there. The room was good value for the money. Definitely would stay here again & would recommend to others that are going to be in Sudbury.

I spent two nights at the House of Kin to visit my friend undergoing treatment in hospital. The room and facility were ideal for my needs, very clean and comfortable and much quieter than a typical hotel, which was much appreciated after long days at the hospital. There are plenty of local eateries nearby, as well as a grocery store next door if you wish to prepare food in the full kitchen available for use. The rooms have small refrigerators also, which is very handy.

We were told about The House of Kin & we thought we would check it out, I was very satisfied with our decision. The staff were very kind friendly & helpful. I love that we were able to use the kitchen to eat & cook if you brought the right cooking tools :) They have a fridge but no stove, they do have a microwave, You can have coffee/tea meet & have conversations with other guests watch television in a lazy boy just somewhere to hang out other than the room, they have a little extra food in the fridge/cubboard that guests leave when they check out, help yourself for people who may be low on funds to be able to have something to eat or snack on :) I like the donation box they have just so they can keep the coffee etc going...I usually gave 3.00 a day you don't have to it can be whatever you can afford. The rooms are clean & the beds are comfortable. I like that they have a few mini malls grocery stores shoppers & so much more next door & all in walking distance :) And a sit down/take out nice atmosphere Bar/Restaurant right next door lol. I will be staying at The House of Kin when I come for surgery in Sept

I have stayed here twice. I live 400 km from Sudbury, and appreciate being able to stay while visiting my brother in hospital. Rooms are small but extremely clean, and I loved having a small fridge in the room. Staff is very efficient and so friendly & obliging. And I must add 'trustworthy'. I inadvertently left some jewellery in my room, and when I came back, it was in a small envelope exactly where I left it! Where else would that happen?? Thanks House of Kin

Unfortunately I've stayed here a couple dozen times over the last couple of years. I say "unfortunately" because if you're staying here then either you or a loved one has a medical condition that requires treatment far from home.
It is located within five minutes of the hospital/cancer centre and there is plenty of parking. Within walking distance there are two grocery stores, several restaurants, and various other shopping outlets in case you forgot something or just need to wander and clear your mind.
The staff here is wonderful and the atmosphere is just what you need during this time. It's quiet and friendly and just like being at home with family. It's not unusual to wander down to the main lounge area and find people in their pjs playing board games or reading or watching tv. It's a comfort especially when everyone else there can relate.
The rooms are lovely and large. They are spotless! Each floor has a small room at the end with books and movies and a tv. Mini lounge type thing so if you can't sleep or whatever, you can wander down there and watch tv or read without disturbing anyone else who might be in your room.
The main lounge/kitchen area is fully equipped with everything you need if you decide to cook a meal. There is always coffee available and the fridge always has bread, bagels, toppings, milk, juice, etc. It's free for guests to help themselves too. They do have a donation box next to the coffee pot to help offset costs.
If you stay here you don't have to worry about loud partying guests. It's just a great place during a difficult time and one less thing to worry about. The staff are more than willing to help you with whatever you may need.

We were directed to the House of Kin by the nurses at the hospital after sleeping for two nights on the bench beside our daughter's hospital bed. I actually stayed one night at another hotel close to the hospital and I am so happy we were able to switch to this place. It is clean, clean, clean! While our room is very small, it has almost everything that chain hotels have and in much better condition! The staff is friendly and helpful. It is a great service that this place offers the community and we are so thankful it is here. If it is available to us next time we are in Sudbury (hopefully no hospital next time!) we would be more than happy to stay here.
