I stayed in this motel many years ago and enjoyed my stay! When rooms in Sudbury were in short supply, I thought I'd give it a try. Bad mistake!!
This is a motel that could be owned by the 'Bates Family'. It is filthy!!
The bedspread had a huge stain on it and when we pulled the bedspread down on the second bed, the sheets had obviously not even been changed since they were last used! This is not a place that you would want to stay, unless absolutely stuck! Which we were.
The rooms were large and extremely dated! Surprisingly, the TV worked....but not too well. And channel selection was limited.
I can see why this motel gets little repeat business!
Stay away! There is nothing good about it!

My dear customer Thanks for stay at my place as an emergency,i am disagree with your opinion, as i am running this business since 2005, and there is no comment about my business, but the people like you killing the small business by using this kind of website,an emergency you have to stay on open ground than you know the value of motel. for your knolege sudbury hotel motel business occupancy rate is more than 75% , I have lot of repeat customer, not like you. We found this place to have a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
The office staff are definitely of "People Person" quality!
If you are a smoker, this is one of maybe only 3 places remaining in Sudbury, that have smoking rooms.
They are also quite "Pet Friendly"

Don't believe the website. It's the worst case of false advertising I've ever experienced. I'm embarrassed to admit I stayed there. The toilet didn't work, the water was brown, everything was dirty. The sheets were stained and full of hair.

I could not bring myself to pay $100+ per night at the usual Super 8/Quality Inn/Best Western options, and I had stayed at this motel before about 10 years back, and didn't remember it being that bad. I figured for $65 for one night, how bad could it be? Well:
1. There was a hole in the wall above my headboard.
2. I took a shower before going to bed, and when I checked out the next morning, the tub still had not drained of water.
3. There were no traction safety adhesive strips/patches in the tub, so I nearly slipped several times.
4. Generally the entire room, particularly the washroom, looked like it had been built by a blind person. Caulking/sealant was literally smeared along every edge. It just gave you a good sense of the quality of the entire place.

Needless to say, next time I will pay the extra few bucks to stay at the nicer places. I will not be staying at Richard Lake Motel again.

I recently stayed at this hotel on the way to Sault Ste Marie. I had checked the price of Sudbury hotels and as a stopover and found the prices were rather high for what we wanted. So we booked at the Richard lake Motel which was quite busy on the Thursday nite we arrived.
The owners are extremely accomodating and the room, although not fancy was clean and fit our needs perfectly. Very quiet.
There is a coffee maker in the room and 2 bottles of water available at no charge.
Whatever, we asked for, the owners were very receptive to our needs. Should I be in the area and require a hotel in the area, I would stay there again.

Charged us $80 plus tax. Room seemed clean, but it was run down and in disrepair. Handle fell off the sink faucet at first use. Really crappy repair job with caulk in the shower. As we checked in there were two police cars parked at the other end of the motel, with officers in/out of the room and interviewing a guest.

I appreciated the complimentary bottle of water (although it made me wonder about the quality of the tap water) and free WiFi. There is NOTHING else nearby - no restaurants or anything.

The Only good thing about this motel was the photographer who took the pictures I saw online.
The bathroom is FULL of mould and mildew… Terrible for my child’s allergies. There were hairs and stains on the sheets. The beds were old and lumpy. There is no deadbolt on the door… And no latch on the window.
This was my first time staying in a motel, and it will be my last. For the extra $30 I will be staying in a chain hotel with some corporate policies in place regarding cleanliness and safety.

Last minute decision to stay here after a long day on the road. Sick of the van and camping! We had a warm and friendly greeting and were given chilled bottles of water for our room.

Kingsize bed, fridge, microwave and tv. Very clean. Older furnishings and bathroom. But fully functioning and appreciated! Our large dog was welcome in the room also. Massive bonus

If you're looking for a spot to sleep, this is a pretty good choice for the price. Friendly staff, clean rooms, and good location. There's a TV, Wifi, a microwave, and a mini fridge. We stopped there for a night on our drive across Canada and it was one of the better places we stayed.

We slept at this motel on our way to Ontario from Alberta driving through the US. We just wanted a place to rest. The bed was mildly comfortable, the place was clean, albeit very old and dated. The East Indian lady who was running the place seemed friendly enough. I'd stay there again for 65.00/night if I wasn't planning on needing the place for more than a few hours to snooze. Easy on and off the highway.
