The room was nice, clean enough, but the noise level from the trains and the traffic made it impossible to sleep. Yes, the view from the 5th floor on the lake side is beautiful, but we had not realized that the trains ride all night and break in front of the hotel. So, all night you are hearing metal against metal breaking train wheels. So, if it is a good night sleep that you want, either ask for the STREET side or go elsewhere.

Stayed here because literally every other hotel was full.....never again. Would give it a minus rating if I could. What a dump, would have had a nicer stay if I was in a tent on the street. Poor maintenance, paper thin walls, worn out just about everything and having to worry about running the gauntlet of street beggars. Garbage and food strewn through the hall. Being continually kept up by drunks in the hallway at 2 am

What a horrible experience. AVOID! This was the only hotel I could find in TB. The room was worn and run down. The AC was terrible and I could not open the window. Unfortunately the area around there has changed and is very sketchy. I did not feel safe. Not the hotels fault. I was up at 4:30 and bolted.

We stayed here two years ago with our dogs and had a great time. It is an older hotel and could use some updates but the water view rooms are great views of the sleeping giant. We stayed again July 2023 and we were very disappointed. When we walked in our room there was a very strong odour of smoke, we had a “smoke free” room. Our bathroom door didn’t shut properly and there was a sticky substance on the floor. Outside the hotel has gotten worse and is no longer safe and welcoming. You have addicts walking around the hotel parking lot asking guests for money and cigarettes. Night time is very sketchy and scary. I would definitely no longer recommend this hotel, especially for families. I will never go back.

I booked this hotel based on historical significance and the waterfront view. It was clean in my room. However, it is in need of updates. The wooden furniture in my room was badly scratched all over and detracted from what what you want a room to feel like. The couch was too worn, sagging cushions and uncomfortable. The curtains were so old and once again took away from the aesthetic. I paid 274 a night but it was not worth that amount. The halls and elevator were so hot. The elevator was probably from the 60's and incredibly slow. The parking lot was full of what appeared to be homeless people who smoked so much , we had to go through the smoke to enter. That parking lot just looked uninviting and therefore, I was unsure my car was safe. There were no issues with safety in the end but I think the hotel could create a smoking spot away from the entry and keep security out there to get the homeless away from that area. One guy was ranting and throwing his arms up and either on a drug high and/or had a mental illness. He needed help but letting him stay in the outside entry area made me feel unsafe. I recommend the hotel owners visit the hotel and grounds and make a good assessment of that property. Bringing it back to its glory may be worth the investment. It has a wonderful location.

I've stayed at the Prince Arthur several time sin the past when visiting family in Thunder Bay. It used to be very nice. It is still okay, but all the people hanging around outside the doors at all hours makes it a sketchy choice now. The employees were very nice and helpfully and the location is great. The pool area looks great, as usual, but we didn't have time to use it this trip. We spent a lot of time being worried about our car. We encountered a very inebriated woman driving a car erratically in the lot, banging into other cars. Well... it was Canada Day. Not sure if we would stay here again.

No air conditioning in room. It was almost 80 degrees in the room when we checked in at 8 pm. Restaurant closed at 8 pm during the week. Very minimal soap and towels in bathroom. Not up to the ratings

An entirely ‘average’ breakfast buffet for ‘Easter’ but at $50/person. It was ‘okay’, and a great assortment. But very ‘middle of the road’. I was invited for a ‘family meal’ that I ended up paying for. $300 for 6 people to have breakfast, plus Tip (the staff are very good) At $50/plate? I dunno if I value ‘brunch’ enough to ever do that again. The decor is entirely ‘okay’. There is no actual view of the waterfront.

Place was dirty . Very sketchy entrance from parking lot. Reception area was disgusting and Receptionist was not very pleasant. Elevator was very old and slow then when it arrives everyone squashes in. Honestly I have no idea how we stayed in the room. The room they gave us was priced at $300 omg I was afraid to take my shoes off . The noise outside our room late at night and early in the morning was terrible. It said there was a restaurant we never saw one although I don't think we would have eat it. We Honestly thought this was some homeless shelter. I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone.

Historic hotel with clean spacious rooms. Fantastic location in downtown Thunder Bay. My room was just fine but the property is suffering in places. Sauna and hot tub not working. Staff didn't tell me that there is free access to the fitness club next door, or even that a pool existed - it is hidden in the basement. Free airport transportation was listed on the app I booked with, but is not offered. I could hear muffled voices most of the night from somewhere...
