Understandably this hotel is under renovations but only one ice maker working. We had to ask for clean towels and to have the bathroom cleaned. The linens were finally changed the day before we left. Close to shopping center.
First, the positives: front desk staff were super helpful and friendly; allowed dogs and had a drive-up room to accommodate trips outside. The hotel is beautiful & has a lot of potential. Special mention to Joe the bartender- great guy! Improvements: it’s filthy! We got one room and it was so dirty, I questioned if it had just been handed to us as someone else checked out. I asked for a broom to sweep the floor myself, but then found coffee stains on the counter, and hair in the bed. The hotel staff changed our room, and on entry into the second room, it appeared better at first glance. However, I found dried blood/snot on the bath towels, and brown stains on the sheets. I honestly think they just need an overhaul of the housekeeping staff & it would be a great place, but until that happens, I wouldn’t stay again.…
DH and I stayed here overnight on our 3-month XCanada drive. We had a pet friendly room that was very spacious and so clean! The whole inn is being renovated and it is very nice. I would definitely stay there again. The front desk staff was accommodating and very pleasant. HOWEVER!!!! Never will I eat in the onsite restaurant ‘Skal”. Service is very slow, our take out dinner was missing sides, and then the discount was not applied to our bill, that whole eating experience was a zero score
my fam and I walked in, tired from a 15 hour drive, first thing we saw was mice running in lobby. front guys didn’t care. hotel smelled funny and made me feel tense rather than a place to sleep. the hallways were littered with bags full of dirty sheets, bags o garbage, etc. The place wasn’t clean either. not worth the price. go to a chain hotel like d*ys inn or h*liday inn. or something. hell. your car is better
Check in was quick and easy, we had reservations made a month in advance. That's where it ended. No information was given on the hotel amenities. There was nothing in the room either. For the price of the room, we were expecting much more. Only one ice machine could be found that worked, hallways were in great need of a good cleaning , hot tub and exercise equipment were not available, water in the pool was murky , stairwells were dirty and stained with missing and curled tiles (a real tripping Hazzard), waste containers were overflowing, and the list keeps going. It has greatly deteriorated since our last visit and will not return!
This hotel is under construction and if you book with a service, this information is not provided until you arrive and see the signs throughout the place. No large TV's in lounge, limited, awkward seating in the restaurant. Absolutely needs a make over, very dated - but more importantly THE OWNERS will need to focus on their human resources and find a way to support their staff better. There was No manager on duty for the weekend, the hotel was full, no person for hotel staff to redirect higher level issues/concerns. At first we were given the wrong room (needed 2 queen beds but issued king). This took time and effort to correct, we had already gone up to room before we noticed the error. The primary concern with the new room, it had no air conditioning. It was warm throughout the building, no air in the restaurant/lounge. There were no other room choices, and maintenance came 3x's to fix, change and accommodate (again lovely staff person) but it took our whole evening in Thunder Bay away. We had various staff popping in to try to help. At one point the air conditioner lay in parts because front reception was trying to help out. I asked for an extra chair, no problem receiving from house keeping (pleasant staff), but the chair itself was unstable, wobbly and from the 1980's. No room cleaning, only done on Friday's, but we were not told this upon check-in (thankful we checked in on a Friday, imagine if it had been mid week? Who cleans the rooms?) I understand that COVID has set the hospitality industry back, but step up and provide a night manager or weekend manager. Who can blame staff shortages if this is how the employer treats their employees. Terrible experience, not what a family vacation needs, more stress. When I asked for compensation at the front desk, no person was in to support or assist, I was given the director of rooms email and staff said they would send in an email, but this is not how the hotel business runs, is it? Save your frustrations, wait until the hotel is repaired and updated, not worth what is charged on-line. Really disappointing.…
Don't EVER waste your money here ... this hotel has "died" from it's good days ... TOTALLY run down from the inside-out ... the courtyard is a wasteland... the refurbished rooms are OK ... the web-site lies about dining (NONE) ... your $ is MUCH Better spent across the "streets" ... some places just need to "die" with some "dignity".
Front-of-house staff were so fantastic - Clinton was super accomodating about our concerns. Housekeeping was definitely below par. Looks like they're under-staffed and more attention to detail is required.
The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant was fine but they are still a bit understaffed (post covid situation many places). Didn't use spa or pool so don't know the renovation status. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Good value. I'd come back.
We were very disappointed to find out that the hotel was being renovated. The pool was closed the restaurant was closed and the elevator wasn't working. The room was okay. Not worth the price at all. The prices should have been deeply discounted due to construction.
