Dog Lake Resort is a piece of paradise. We rented a hilltop cabin with an amazing view that was a short walk from the beach. We were able to spend some time at the beach and the water was so warm. Everything we needed was available at the cabin.
Thanks for a really relaxing time.

We stayed in a cabin for five days with our dog. Paul, the owner, is friendly, accommodating, and helpful. HIs staff, Cathy and Mark, are the same. The cabin has everything single thing you could think of needing. Paul;s challenge to me was to search for something that I needed in the kitchen that was not there, and I came up empty. There are more utensils, kitchen cookware, etc, than most people would have at home! Our cabin faced the lake which was absolutely beautiful. We rented a boat from Paul one day and went out on the lake which is spectacular in its beauty surrounded by deep green trees. The cabin had a comfortable sitting area with a terrific TV lineup.
There is an unpaved road leading to the cabins of about seven km.but one goes slowly and looks at the scenery and seeing the occasional rabbit run across the road makes the trip faster . I would recommend this resort highly for its natural beauty and for the hospitality and service of the owner and his staff.

We've been renting a cabin here for the past 11 seasons. The owner greets everyone very warmly. If you The property is about 1 hour north of Thunder Bay right on Dog Lake. They have about 8 cabins of several sizes ( 1 bedroom, or 2 bedroom) to rent. The cabins overlook the beach. The cabins are supplied with the essentials that cottages usually have, including BBQ's on the porch. Bring the food you need for your stay and you're all set to enjoy Northern Ontario. Bring (or rent??) a boat for fishing; bring your kayaks, canoes - the lake is a larger inland lake with lots to explore. The swimming is great on the sandy beach. There's a fire pit for camp fires. In season, there's blueberry picking on the road leading in. Some of the 2 bedroom cabins are newer than others, so ask about that if its a concern.

The lake is great, the beach is wonderfull! Very quiet. The owner is on site and attentative. Our cabin was very close to the beach area , overlooking the lake, two bedrooms , one bath. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. The kitchen family room were adjoined. New appliances. The rooms were outdated, with very old furnishings, and were not comfortable. Rustic. The double bed was in need of replacing and sagged in the middle making sleep difficult. Bunkbeds were adequate. The washroom was very, very small. Front window seal was gone and foggy blocking the view to the lake. No air conditioning, but for our stay was not needed. Fan supplied.Wifi ok at times, cell phone use spotty at best 1 bar. Web site outdated.
The road to this lake is about a 40 minute drive, with a lot of curves and very rough gravel surface.
If you like to fish with a boat this lake is a place to holiday, with many fish caught during our stay.

If you think a Hyatt or Four Seasons resort is your idea of vacation, stay home and leave the cabin rental open for me and mine. If you want to stay on a beautiful lake, great fishing, and a great host, this can't be beat. We're in our 20th year at the resort. That alone should say something. I haven't signed up for the food plan, but I know the cook and she can put out a meal. Nothing fancy, just honest to good food. It's a beautiful drive into the resort. You won't be blasting in. Take your time. Enjoy the ride in and start winding down. It's one of my favorite places on earth

My son Tim and I found Dog Lake Resort on the internet. We were in Duluth Minnesota. There must be about a million Canadian fishing resorts, and we didn't know what to expect.

Dog Lake Resort turned out to be a really excellent choice. We spent three nights and rented a boat for two days. The cabin wasn't fancy, but it had everything you could possibly need, and more beside. The boat was well kept and the fishing was great.

However, Paul, the owner was the best thing about the place. He was helpful, laid back and went well above and beyond the call to make sure that we had everything we needed, including fishing advice. He even ended up preparing our walleye dinner, since he could see that we didn't know how.

I can recommend this for anybody who wants a great trip.

I recently stayed at dog lake resort and the experience was great. The owner Paul was super friendly and was very helpful with everything. The cabins are very clean, and everything you need is there. The drive was very nice from Thunder bay, lots of nice scenery very tranquil and peaceful. I would recommend it to anyone A++, one of the best resorts I have stayed at.

It was very nice to stay there for 1 week! Middle of August. Fishing. Swimming. Sauna on the beach.
No cell phones coverage. There is free WiFi, through satellite. Slow but working. You can use VoIP to stay in touch.

First off - Paul and Jeremy were fantastic! Anything we needed (towels, firewood, bait, etc.) they provided daily! These two made our stay genuinely amazing. I would also HIGHLY recommend utilizing their meal service... I had the best prime rib of my life, with perogies, veggies, pasta, garlic bread, salad and a complete charcuterie - not to mention the key lime pie dessert!!

The lake is stunning and the beach was great (not packed at all) for families and children. The water was great and the sauna was perfect for late night dips.

We had a large group, so were the big cabin on the top of the hill. The cabin was very clean and well stocked - just show up with your own food and you're good!.

Consider the Wifi non-existent, but you wouldn't want it out there! If you like to fish with a boat this lake is a place to holiday!

Thanks again Paul and Jeremy.

The owner, Paul, is so accommodating he comes across more as a host than an owner.

Cabins were very comfortable and staff quickly assisted you with any need. They have remodeled and updated cabins recently.

Strongly recommend the meal plan...incredible. This might be enough reason for my return.

Walleyes and small mouths were caught by the dozens each morning and afternoon. Great boats were available at the resort.

Really nice beach, new outdoor sauna by the lake, and a great fire pit added to our trip.

Thanks Paul for a great week.
