I recently travelled to Timmins for a hockey tournament. The arenas are all in a short driving distance from the Senator Hotel. They have a pool and it kept our kids entertained for hours. Our team was kept together on the same floor. I'd recommend this hotel to any sports team!

A good location in Timmins. I have stayed here a number of times when visit Timmins. Ask for the renovated wing of the hotel - there's an additional cost ($15ish) but worth it. TIP: the demand on hotel rooms right now is very high. New hotels are in the works but best to book ahead for now :) Below is a more detailed review of my most recent stay:

SERVICE: Fine. No issues.

ROOM: Very clean, updated room with updated bedding. Bar fridge and flat screen TV. Coffee and Wifi included. Loved the big comfortable chair.

BATHROOM: Clean. Shampoo and bar-soap provided. Conditioner and lotion would have been a nice addition.

FOOD: Continental breakfast included with room. Decent selection including: coffee, juice, bagels, pastries, fruit salad, and a couple types of cereal. The restaurant in the hotel is quite nice and features a good menu.

I stay here fairly regularly. As one of the previous reviewers noted, if you know what to ask for, this hotel is pleasant, and the location good if you need to carry out business in the downtown. The renovated rooms are much nicer - the older rooms are very sad. The staff has always been very helpful and make the stay much better. The east wing rooms are a pain to get to, and are noisy and cold in the winter. You are able to hear the logging trucks going up and down the main street, so I always make sure to ask for the tower rooms. Food is surprisingly good from the hotel's restaurant - but service can be hit and miss.

Take no notice of information on their website - it is wildly inaccurate.
Photos bear no resemblance to the accommodation.

Should have known when we parked the car - all the concrete in underground car park was crumbling.

We asked about the restaurant. We were told that they currently did not have one.

Room was reasonable on the 5th floor, unfortunately through the night there was a storm and water was leaking into the room through the windows.
Also there was no cold water, only hot water from all taps - surely a health and safety issue!

We asked the next day to be moved to another room. This new room also had only hot water from all taps!

On going down to breakfast we were not allowed to get our own choice of the food supplied. A waitress insisted that she pick the food. This was placed into polystyrene box with plastic knife and fork. We were not even allowed to put our own bread in the toaster. Toast was buttered and handed to us in a paper bag.

We were due to be there for 2 nights, but after all of these issues we booked out after the first night.

We generally only put on good reviews onTripAdvisor but after this experience we felt that people should be made aware of the issues we experienced with this particular hotel.

First of all, we checked in there late at night around 12 am and we asked about the breakfast timings to the staff present there, he responded with 7 am to 10 am. We asked if we could get breakfast at 11 since we have some work in the morning, he replied saying that we could. When we went there next morning at 10:30, we were denied breakfast by the other staff member being really rude. We asked her about providing us with dental kits and water to which she said that you have booked this hotel for a really low price and we can’t provide you with anything at that price.
When we asked her about her name, she did not tell us her name because she knew that we are going to be giving her a bad review. I mean if you’re in the hospitality business, the least you can do is be nice to your guests despite of the price they are paying for the room.
The rude staff member was a middle aged blonde female.

I was in Timmins Ontario this week on business, as timing would have it, there was a large mining expo that made finding a room difficult. I reluctantly called the Senator as it has gone down in quality considerably since it was a Days Inn. I was able to secure a room and was told repeatedly how excited they were to have me back and that I would be placed in a freshly renovated room!
I was gouged $ 292.00, with tax, for a single night stay and from my attached photos you can guess how renovated it was. Flies in the light fixture, burn marks in the carpet and linen that was questionable for cleanliness.
I attempted to discuss my disappointment the next morning and requested the bill, that was outlandish for what I was promised, should be adjusted .
I was met with hostility and a shrug. Please don’t fall for the same lies. If you can’t find a room at the other quality establishments, rebook your plans to be in Timmins

The sheets were clean. THAT’S IT! There were stains EVERYWHERE ! And room service was inconsistent.. The first room they wanted to put us in smelt so bad, the hallway too; there was NO WAY we were staying on that floor! The other floor we stayed at didn’t smell bad. There was ONE luggage cart for the entire hotel and it went missing and we definitely needed help with 2 pieces we had. They were blasting the side of the building and it was loud and the room shook (only during blasting and during the day). They offer a pet friendly hotel and the only green space available was blocks away! The air conditioning worked so little that it wasn’t worth having it on with all the noise it made. There are much better places to stay at!

Great ! I know this place has had many bad reviews in the last couple years, honestly for the price it was great! Friendly staff, easy check in, clean room, bathroom was a little out dated but clean, great water pressure, comfy bed. Nice simple breakfast, served to us. I would definitely come again.

Dirty bathtub, no water pressure, stains on carpets, hole in bathroom ceiling. Elevators didn’t work with key cards so we took the stairs up 6 floors. The parking garage is falling apart - insulation falling everywhere. Our car got broken into even after we went and told front office there were homeless people hanging around - they just laughed.
Breakfast was ok. Wifi was ok. The building is ok as long as you stay in your room. Very dangerous neighbourhood.
