My husband and I were looking for a place to stay in Timmins and were lucky to find this resort. The hotel has a quaint feel and the staff was very friendly. The best part of this resort is the spa. We got the Nordic package and it was fabulous! There are hot and cold baths with a roaring fire and meditation rooms. You can even rent robes and slippers. It is perfect for relaxation and to unplug. This is a hidden gem and so worth the stay! Their packages are excellent and well worth it! The restaurant was ok and nice to have something on site. We went for dessert and drinks. It wasn’t packed, but the service was really slow. The dessert wasn’t anything special. Overall, we would definitely come back and stay!
it's been a couple of weeks since our NOC weekend run to Timmins, 9 cars 18 people booked at Cedar Meadows. The president has stayed here a couple of times on Snowmobile trips, so we all booked at the Hotel. Lets start with Supper, we booked our tables for 6 pm we arrived there before 6pm we were seated at 2 tables of 6 and 2 booths of 4. we ordered or drinks and 10 min after we ordered our food. the 4 booths that were around us cycled through twice, meaning customers came in sat down order eat and left twice. we still hadn't been severed. At 8:30 approx 2.5 hours after we ordered our President spoke up and they said they our food would be right out. so at 8:45 our food finally arrived 2.5 hrs after we ordered. the portions were small my Elk burger was the size of small burger from Mcdonalds an the amount of fries was smaller than a small fry from Mcdonalds. my wife Salmon was approx 1 in wide and 5 inches long her vegetable's consisted of 3 cauliflower an 2 pieces of carrots and maybe a couple of rice. the prices for the portions was over priced and then while paying or bill they told us not to add a tip as they already added a 18.5% gratuity. The wife put a snafu to that in a hurry, i felt sorry for our servers as 4 of them sat a the bar waiting for our food to cook. they did state they were sorry and the kitchen staff was short handed but they served 4 other booths twice, before serving us. our plan was to have a nice supper then head down to the SPA for a nice relaxing hottub, only to find out that the hottub closed at 8:30. so our 3 hour dinner wiped out any chance of having a hot tub. Now that has been said the shower head in or room had multi setting none of which worked and the ceiling fan in bathroom the cover was hanging down about 4 inches, so all in all our stay there was not very enjoyable. now this was probably a freak happen but it left a bad taste in my mouth we had breakfast the next day down the road at an ESSO truckstop, they served al 18 of us with awesome food and we were in and out in 45 min…
This resort has an in-house full service spa with Nordic baths, and a large nature preserve with wilderness tours. The hotel is clean and cozy, and the in-suite jacuzzi works well. If you are able to get a package deal that includes the Nordic baths, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. Although some elements of the room and hotel are showing some age, you have to keep in mind that this is Northern Ontario and not the GTA. Temper your expectations and you will be pleasantly surprised - this is the perfect staycation during COVID.
We want to stay in some nice hotel in Timmins and we booked based on their shinny website pamphlets. It was a bit pricey room rate for the area as other hotel with good review can also be book for less. The outside of the Meadow is charming, they have a small pond with geese and a paid park to see deers and elks. I am not sure if it was just a bad experience for us but some of the bad reviews is matching what we saw. We arrive around 9h20 , to get something to eat but the restaurant closed earlier without notice. So we end up calling skip the dish. We had 2 big luggage’s that we had to carry up to first floor as there is no elevator for this +100room capacity complex. First impression of reception staff was not welcoming. When we asked where we can order food in the area she was telling us to google it. Our room was a decent size with two bed. During the Covid we were expecting the room been sanitized and clean, here what we got : - dusty room no evidence of any cleaning was done - the coffee maker and pot was not cleaned from the previous customer - washroom was old but was not as bad as the room. -we had to stop the AC as the noise was too loud (possibly a compressor issue) - the mini fridge was next to bed head and was noisy. The bed , furniture were extremely old, i did properly sleep and was a horrible experience. I don’t blame the staff but it look like a management issue of the property. It could have been a beautiful experience just need to spend so money and training the staff properly. I but some pictures. It is basically a motel standard for a Hilton price. …
My husband and I booked 2 nights in the cute chalet's at Cedar Meadows for our 10th wedding anniversary. We started off with a massage and pedicure which were both great. We then checked in to our chalet we were immediately disappointed. The chalet looked pretty run down, which I could live with. However I could not accept how dirty it was. The surfaces were full of finger marks, the living room sofa had hair and was in rough shape, I didn't even want to sit on it. The stairs leading up to the loft were filthy and full of spots. The window sills were full of dust and dead flies. The bathroom sink was dirty and the garbage was full, the shower stall was moldy at the bottom of the door. The place needed a thorough cleaning and a bit of tlc. After complaining to the reception, they were super nice and apologetic. They told us they would go clean right away and reduced our rate. We thought, ok maybe it will be better. We went to the outdoor northern spa for the rest of the day and enjoyed that immensely. Spa services were top notch and everything was clean. Returned to our room after the staff was supposed to clean and well the garbage was changed, the sofa was perhaps vacuumed or at least the hair was removed and the window sill was wiped but the rest was the same. To top it all off, neither of us slept that night because the bed mattress was completely caved in the middle. We also noticed huge cob webs up on the chandelier and corner of cathedral ceiling...these had been there for a long time. We checked out the next morning and did not stay our 2nd night. Cleanliness unacceptable, especially during the pandemic. Cannot speak for the rooms inside the hotel.…
