Gross hostel, wish I could give 0 stars. Dirty, loud, bad beds, bright at night. Overall terrible experience. Would feel safer and cleaner sleeping in a park, there would probably be less homeless people there too.

This place is great if you're super laidback and just want a place to sleep and shower. It's definitely not worth more than the $35/night (or there abouts) you pay. Beds were fine, I liked that they provided bedding. The common areas were generally clean too. My main issues with the place were the amount of insects around and the...

Staff there was fun, friendly, VERY respectful and helpful. Yes, it's very basic, but hello! Its only 32 bucks a night! If you need an "atmosphere", flowers, marble counter tops and a big bedroom - 5 star hotel is around the corner. I needed a bed to sleep on, shower, and a fridge and I got it. Dorms are gender...

They locked me out and stole my luggage. Cockroaches everywhere. This is a scam do not go here. I was locked out and then preyed upon by the guy who worked there, all 6 men then claimed they owned it and do not like women.

When i got here i didnt know what i had let myself in for. Place was so small you couldnt swing a cat. Given this i thought it was a new hostel just getting started so i will give it the benefit of the doubt. BIG MISTAKE. There are bugs everywhere, you cant keep anything in the fridge as its...

Unless your backup backup plan has fallen through and you're shy of sleeping on the streets, do not stay here. The location is great!...And that's where the fun stops. Bugs are everywhere and it looks and feels very unsanitary. It needs a complete renovation, I don't know how they've managed to stay in business. It's extremely cramped and there is...

Oh do not stay there, Do not trust the manager. I arrived with a group of 12 scouts, at the Backpackers in downtown Toronto on a saturday evening at 8 pm in August. At arrival the manager told me he had given away our beds. I had reserved those beds weeks in advance. The manager told me he had sent...

When planning a trip to Toronto this seemed like a good cheap option. As it turns out that was not the case. To be fair I didn't have a chance to sleep in the beds or try out the shower but that was because they had given away the beds we had booked. We had a copy of emails that...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
