Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Nestled in a prime spot, the Fairmont Royal York is lauded for its central location, appealing to those seeking convenience in Toronto. However, reviews often describe the rooms as somewhat cramped and outdated, with notable noise disturbances. Although the hotel's cleanliness and elegant atmosphere are acknowledged, the value proposition is questioned by guests who expect more for the premium pricing. While the luxurious amenities and the attentive staff receive commendations, the overall experience is marred by the subpar gym and room size, along with sporadic service hiccups.

The service I experienced while making and managing my group's reservations at the hotel was truly exceptional. Janice, the group reservations coordinator, truly went above and beyond in every aspect. I'm immensely grateful for her assistance and will select this property for all my future coporate travels.

Hotel's Favourite
I decided on the spur of the moment to stay the Royal York last week, after a long day of flying. I took the UP Express from Pearson, crossed the street, walked into the Royal York and booked myself a room for the night. I am so glad I did! I have known the Royal York for many years, have had many a business meeting in the lobby bar and library bar, but had never actually stayed there. The hotel itself is beautiful and so nicely appointed. My room was very comfortable, and very quiet, for which I was so grateful!! I have stayed in so many hotels where noise is a problem, and it's always disappointing to not be able to sleep well when paying for a hotel. I don't think I woke once the entire night, which was lovely. The bathroom in my room was also very nice, and I really appreciated the quality Le Labo products the hotel provided. As mentioned, I was really tired after a long day of travel, so even though I was tempted to go downstairs to eat in the gorgeous Reign dining room, I opted for room service instead. The food was very good, and came to the room quickly. It was a nice surprise to get a call from In-Room- Dining shortly afterwards asking how my meal was. I did go down to Reign in the morning for breakfast, and again, it was very good and I just love the design and decor of the room. Every person that I dealt with who worked at the hotel was very friendly and polite. I go to Toronto often on business, and The Royal York will now be my go-to hotel, without a doubt.

BED BUGS! Hotel is showing its age! My wife and I were there this weekend, both of us are covered in bed bugs!! You would think at $250 per night you would be pretty safe, but no! Check your sheets and bed before getting comfortable! The hotel is showing its age, really rough trim work and elevators not always working. There isn't even a fridge in the room to keep food cold.

Got upgraded lux queen room, as prior requested away from elevators, and didn't happen. Room is average, neutral decor, bit outdated, bathroom tiny, although good CNN tower view. Library bar was great, events area luxurious. Main concern is poor insulation between room, which resulted in worst night sleep in hotel, with horrendous screaming and sobbing from woman next door which was heard for 2-3hrs 1-3am. Reported to concierge same night, and even manager next morning, heard nothing yet for over 1 week still. At one point wanted to dial 911 as concerned for woman's safety.

Pictures online, based on which i booked the room is completely different to the one i was assigned - it was old, tired, noisy, could hear everything including neighbours on their phone having conversation. Very disappointed. Helpful porter at checkout (othertimes the doormen weren’t so welcoming nor bothered - especially for a “five star” hotel). Housekeeping shows up around 4pm to service room..so late.

Online booking was easy to navigate. Check-in was smooth, quick, pleasant and efficient. The room/ suite was spotless throughout complete with robes and slippers. For a legend hotel, the room was spacious and very bright. Every one of the stress was very polite and professional.

We don’t recommend to book his hotel. I and my wife were on the business trip for us and canada. our last stop was Toronto. We travelled from last 12 days. We came to Toronto from montreal by car its a long journey. The check in was smooth. Rooms were good. After long journey i want to sleep but we can’t sleep because of the noise of our neighbours.. When we complained the hotel they change our room but they aren’t sure that about the noise. Its was shocking when they said like this. We changed my room but still have noise when the people were talking in their rooms. We don’t recommend this hotel. When you walk in the corridor you can listen the voice from the another rooms

From the warm welcome, to the cleanliness, professionalism of the staff, the can-do attitude, comfortable beds and pillows, thickness of the towels, design of the room and washroom - everything was classy! One of my favorite parts of a stay at a Fairmont is the distinct smell as soon as you walk in, as well as in the rooms. It's always a pleasure an a privilege to stay at the Royal York. Congratulations to the staff!
