Can't believe this was a 5* hotel. We weren't informed prior to travel that the kitchen was being refurbished so only buffet food was available at unreasonable prices. There were paper cups in the rooms to drink your tea/coffee from. Thank goodness there was a Starbucks based by reception. No safe in the room. Two fire alarms and evacuation during...

The hotel was very central, staff was friendly and informative. The location was easy to navigate and was walking distance to the island airport "Billy Bishop" down town Toronto as well as restaurants and event locations

Booked for (2) adjoining rooms, when we got there hotel said we had to understand it was a very busy week and they had to give the adjoining room away so separated our party by one room they could have given to the other group. Decor/hallways were like walking through Alice in Wonderland, you got sea sick just getting to...

Dear ilarabee, Thank you for your review. We apologize that your stay fell short of your expectations and that we were not able to deliver your requested room type upon arrival. That is never our intention. Although we have no immediate plans to change our hallway décor and floor plans, we do have upgrades in the works for our guestrooms....

It had been several years since my most recent stay at the Renaissance Toronto Downtown. If I were to only focus on the state of the rooms, I'd likely give the Renaissance a rating of 3/5. However, there are many positives that cannot be overlooked and somewhat compensate for this shortcoming What I liked: -Location - extremely convenient for Rogers...

We came here for a night in Toronto with the kids to visit the aquarium. The room was great and much larger than expected. It was updated and very clean. The kids loved the swimming pool, and there was stylish, comfortable seating around the pool area. The hot tub was under repair, which wasn't a big deal at all to...

As someone who works in the travel industry, I am lucky enough to enjoy perks that come with an IATA card. I also have rewards memberships with most hotel chains. I always have a great stay at Marriott hotels, regardless of membership status. I booked at the Renaissance Hotel because it was in great proximity to all major attractions. I...

Stayed for a week on business Staff are great can not fault anyone I dealt with and they are a credit to the hotel but the novelty factor is not huge when there is no baseball and the rooms are in need of upgrading. If the rooms get upgraded it will be fantastic. Location good, check in quick and any...

I had booked several rooms the weekend of my daughter's wedding March 24,25,26 2017. Aileen Noftall the event manager was pivotal in ensuring our stay was perfect. And perfect it was! All our rooms per bright, clean, well provided and spacious. Aileen upgraded our room (parents of the bride) to an incredible suite, with gorgeous view of the CN tower....

The hotel is on the other side of the Rogers Centre and offers quite a nice stay. Bathroom finishings were very well done, with modern, marble accents. The room and bed were nice and large for the price. Avoid weekends when the Blue Jays are playing and the hotel will be cheaper.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
