That is how Gallo made us feel at their B & B. I think the best part about a B & B experience is the mix of people you meet at breakfast and this place did not disappoint me in that regard. There is a rumor that the Dalai Lama stayed here also.

We enjoyed our visit here very much. Gailo, our hostess was very kind and hospitable. Our room was beautiful and appointed with every amenity that we needed. The bathroom was spacious, modern and clean. the bed was very comfortable, firm and big. There were dressers and lamps for both of us. Everything, including fan, tv, wifi, and windows, operated well. What a lovely place! We couldn't have asked for any more. The actual B&B is very pretty, Gailo is the most welcoming host and the area is just beautiful. We know where to stay next time we are in Toronto and will happily recommend this place. The cuddily cats are a bonus on top of an already lovely stay! Little... More

We stayed in the Cabbageville B&B in July for 2 nights and we really enjoyed it really much. Cabbagetown is a very nice and quiet neighborhood and the B&B is charming and thoughtfully decorated. The room we stayed in was clean, with a small fridge and a very comfortable bed. But the best thing about the B&B was the owner:... More

Cabbageville B&B was a wonderful place to spend some time discovering Toronto. Upon entering the front garden, we were greeted outside by Gailo with a warm welcome in her South African accent. Our room upstairs for two was exceptionally quaint, clean, and comfortable, and our private bath was immaculate and roomy. Gailo was a gracious and friendly host with a... More

Recently spent a night at the Cabbageville B&B and we were more than satisfied! We received a kind welcome and lots of info from the very personable owner. Our room was clean, cozy and inviting and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was just right - an ample buffet with fresh breads, cheese, fruit, yogurt etc. Neighbourhood was quaint and... We stay there two nigths in August 2012. The room was clean and cozy. The madam renting the house was very polite, she has a lovely cat. Continental breakfast was delicious, we would stay there again! It seems like home!!!

Sometimes it's best to wait a few days before you write a review as it adds perspective to your journey. While it is easy to set an impossibly high standard for yourself it's a good idea to stand back and compare what is on offer. We booked Cabbageville, with exclusive use of private bathroom ( it's cheaper to share bathroom... More

Thank you Stephanie and Len - I so enjoyed your stories and am sure I learnt a lot from them! Since your stay, I have done a small alteration to your bedroom, incorporating the passage into the bedroom, and it makes a great difference - I am very excited about it. You will have to take my word for it,... More

Cabbagetown is a delightful, pretty neighborhood just a block off a bustling, lively neighborhood. This home of proprietor Gailo (and her family) is charmingly and lovingly appointed. Breakfast is very nice, with offerings of cheeses, fresh bread, jam, juice, cereal and coffee is available at any time. Gailo will sit and chat with you if you like, but is discreet... More

We enjoyed staying in Cabbageville. It's a peaceful area in walking distance to lots of downtown spots (maybe a long walk for some places). The B&B was a comfortable place to stay, breakfast was good and the owner is nice. We'd stay here again on a future visit to Toronto.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
