Detailed Reviews
Went to a concert at Scotiabank Arena and decided to stay overnight in Toronto. As we were looking for hotels we came upon Madison Manor Boutique Hotel, that was somewhat close to the venue and the price was way lower compared to any other in the area.
Check-in was easy. Car was parked safely in the large parking lot behind the building.
Yes, the building is old, yes there is no elevator and we had to climb a flight of stairs to get to our room, but the interior is finely decorated, appropriate to the "era", very clean and no "old building smell".
The room was quite small, but had all we needed, a comfy bed, clean sheets, fluffy pillows and a clean, well stocked bathroom. Yes, the room was overheated for our liking and we could not adjust temperature from the wall unit, but we were able to slightly open the window and get fresh air in. The night was quiet no party or noise from the pub.
Overall we were pleased with our overnight stay at this hotel.

We were in town for a family event near U of T and chose Madison Manor for its location, walking distance to many of our destinations along Bloor Street. As a much older building, it is also priced less than other hotels in the area. However, that meant there was no elevator, so lots of stairs not really suitable for seniors such as ourselves, dated and shabby furniture in the rooms, and sadly not fastidious housekeeping. Although we did not experience the noise referred to in some reviews, and although the staff were helpful and pleasant, the fact that twice in 3 days our air/con and fridge were without power and had to be reported and the run down condition makes us reluctant to recommend this hotel.

Overpriced for what you get. My room was on the smallish side and smelled of old man. It was also freezing. Thermostat in the room didn't work so no way to turn on some heat and the carpet was stained and dirty. Bed sheets and the bathroom were clean though so a big plus. I didn't hear a peep from the pub next door or the subway so also a big plus. Didn't get any $12 food voucher so not sure when they stopped that. There's also no iron, fridge or microwave in the room. Just a kettle. I could hear people walking in their room upstairs but it wasn't ridiculous. I'd stay again but I would ask for the room with the fireplace!

Madison Manor Toronto is a terrible property with even worse customer service. We were given a tiny room in the basement with no opening window, tiny vent in the name of A/C and two dim table lamps. When requested a better room upon check-in, we were told that "That is the room you get if you book through Expedia, Hotels.com or other websites. If you book direct, we can give you better room." We could not sleep due to continuous noise of metro underground line, sewer drain noise, pub noise, paper thin ceilings and walls. Room and lobby were smelly without any fresh air. Toilet in our room flooded with first flush after we checked in but nobody was there to answer the call and reception was locked. We had to use facilities in restaurants and shops nearby. What is the point of paying high prices when you cannot sleep or use toilets in the room. Coming out in the public car park (which is behind this Terrible Madison Manor Hotel) in the dark did not feel safe at all. We would not recommend this place to anybody.

The hotel is right beside a central subway station and on a busy part of Bloor Street, so easy access to good local stuff and anything else in the city you want to visit. Nice sized rooms, good cable tv, good water pressure in the shower. It's a historic manor but kept up very well. On the evenings it can get loud through the walls with the nightclub nextdoor, so make sure to bring ear plugs or a noise machine to drown it out. Nothing too bad, we slept fine through it with the white noice machine on. Usually one of the cheaper good hotel options in the city, snap this room up if you can!

What they don't tell you is that it is adjacent to their own large pub, which is open until 2am. On the other side is a fraternity building that had an extremely loud pa system blasting out until 3.30 am on the Thursday.
The aircon is very noisy and ineffective, and the room was cramped and stuffy. Decent situation near Spadina Subway and the staff were very pleasant, but I would never pay a return visit.

My niece and i stayed from august 31st to september 4th (attached)
We had serious problems with the air conditioning, every day we asked to leave it turned off and were ignored. until the day we arrived from the street and it was at 84F making it impossible to sleep.
My niece had to go down and, together with the employee, turn off the main switch.
We also had the surprise that there was a bar with a nightclub right where the restaurant was also for guests, which was very unpleasant because we chose this Boutique Hotel for being smaller. The reception said that we would give a discount for the inconvenience of the air conditioning, duvet torn, curtain falling and more the discomfort of the club.
However, on the day of check out, there was no one at the reception to help unload large and heavy suitcases. I would like to request at least 50% refund. I apologize for the English because I used Google translator.
Name of guests Eliana Nistico and Vanessa Nistico.

Fascinating building. Lots of stairs to climb, no lift. Not good for 80 year olds. Put us in top room, with 6 flights of stairs.
Ancient TV with box. Air-conditioning not working, came to room with 2 portable fans working. Kettle, no fridge. Very very noisy. Good eating nearby, not just hamburgers and coke!

this was a tough call. it’s a fair hotel. nothing ‘boutique’ about it.
moderately clean except for the bathroom floor and the lobby.
as far as the bathroom goes. iunderstand it’s a 3 star but you get tiny soap.bars and watery shampoo… this is more likely found in a 2 star.
in our case . we were greeted at the reception with fans. we were told the air conditioners were not working. it would have been nice if they had told us before so that we could have the choice to re-book somewhere else. there were no screens in the window and due to street lighting , moths were waiting to join us in our room.
Due to supply problems , they were not able to get any coffee for the room coffee maker. they could have gone to the grocery store and pick up some coffee for the guests.
and finally ….. to no one’s surprise it can be noisy. it is attached to a pub so …. figure it out.
——— in the positive side , it is located in a nice area closed to shops. air conditioning and coffee may be waiting for you.
and all the staff was super nice and sort of helpful…

This is the very worst hotel experience ever had. The room assigned at check in was directly beside the loud pub. It was so loud it was as if there was no wall at all between the room and the band. The walls were shaking. No sleep possible especially as pub revellers kept up their raucous behaviour until 2:30 am. No staff on site to try to move rooms and no one ever answers the phone. Was booked in for two nights but checked out after the first night. Management would not refund the second night. I would never recommend this hotel.

They may have a late check-in, but it would be through the pub that is attached to the hotel ~ you should contact the desk to confirm that this would work ~
we payed for parking at the hotel last week. Lot behind the hotel is directly accessible, according to a posted sign except after 3 AM. Not sure when the gate opens in the morning. based on meters in the parking lot you would have to leave early or go to the lot early in the AM to update the parking meter.
Dear Sarah,
Thank you for your message. We do provide complimentary storage at the front desk.
Should you have any other enquiries please do not hesitate to contact us again.

No. We thought it would be a college bar (perhaps the kids have found somewhere more hip to go) but the crowd was very rough at least from what I saw. I could not sleep from the fighting and screaming outside my window. At the home next door 5 people were stabbed this past summer.
Dear Guests,
Each of our Victorian Style rooms is complete with their own full bathroom.
Regards,
Mireia Molas
