Great location! I had a 3-day business meeting for 45 people at the Novotel North York in June - great experience! Everyone on staff is very professional, friendly, and helpful, and food (both restaurant and banquets) was quite good. Although the A/V is a bit dated (screens and projectors from their vendor instead of built-in monitors with HDMI cables), it all worked out well. Plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby, and being in the North York Centre not only provided great underground access to the shops on Younge Street, but there is also a Subway station (very reasonable rates of CAD3.30 one-way) to get downtown in about 30 minutes vs. 40+ minutes by car

Pros: Excellent location on top of a mall, across a street from another, and on top of the North York Centre subway station. Easy access from 401. Good sleep quality and room comfort in general. Welcoming staff.
Cons: Very small rooms (below average for this comfort level). Perfectible soundproofing (even more important for our room which was near the elevators and ice machine). Hard to get fresh towels especially Sundays. WiFi sub-par for this day and age.
The room we got was very small and rather noisy, but it was well appointed with good sleep quality and plenty of light. The hotel is a bit older and it shows in the room amenities. Indeed, the well-placed power plugs all have USB plugs but in our room many were broken. The bathroom is also kind of dated, though all fixture work well enough. Some might remember those mid-90s "efficient" toilets that require holding the lever for a full flush and seems in continuous danger of plugging (I remember them too well, having one at home). If you do not remember them then you might just get a chance to see them in action at this hotel.
Staff was great, with the exception that towels seem to be a hot commodity. We felt like pulling teeth in our quest for obtaining more towels (though we did get them in the end).
WiFi is available and it kind of works most of the time, though the bandwidth is well below today's standards. Video streaming in particular is kind of painful. They nag you when registering toward a paid WiFi option, which I did not appreciate since in this day and age (and at the rather high room rate) I fully expect good WiFi included in the room price.
We did not try the breakfast buffet since it is on the expensive side ($30 per person) and the restaurant did not seem well frequented. Beside, there are plenty of good dining options nearby.
For us the best feature of the hotel is the location. The hotel is dab in the middle of the commercial area of North York. It sits on top of a shopping center and another mall is just across the street. There are many eateries nearby and at least two nice green areas. Furthermore the subway station is in the same building. You can get from your own room to Union station in 30 minutes flat. It is hard to get better than this. Access by car is also painless, just a few blocks on Yonge from the 401. The underground parking is rather expensive (a bit more expensive than downtown Montreal as a comparison), but that seems to be the norm in the Greater Toronto Area.
Overall we enjoy our stay and we see ourselves staying there again when visiting Toronto.

For us the location was great, we didn't have to contend with driving into the city as there was a subway station attached to the shopping centre that the Novotel was also apart of, it was easy to find driving from Montreal and easy for us to depart for our drive to Sault Ste Marie. Check in was efficient, typical Novotel decor, room was quiet, bed was comfortable, air-conditioning worked well, bathroom clean, good shower pressure. Secure parking underneath the building. Another shopping centre across the road with an excellent supermarket for food supplies. Subway trip into Toronto city was $3.25 each way, the subway trains were clean, not overcrowded and took about 25 minutes each way. Perfect for us. Nothing else to really add - a typical Novotel.

The hotel does not have terminals for paying with Apple Pay; you need a physical card (plastic). They cannot take funds through the booking account (the card is linked there). They have a deposit >50$/night. They do not accept US dollars, they do not take deposits in US dollars. They do not exchange currency. Since early morning they carry out repair work, it is very noisy. They start drilling the walls in the morning at 08.00. The breakfast cafe opens late, there are no lunch boxes for early breakfasts.

This hotel exceeded my expectations (based on recent reviews). It was modern and clean from the lobby to the guest room. The lobby is beautifully, tastefully decorated for the holidays. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The guest room was clean and appointed with robes and toiletries. What wasn’t stocked in the room was available at guest services (shower caps, sewing kits, etc). We had breakfast one morning in the hotel which was a buffet with plenty of fresh hot entrees, baked goods, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal and other options. The wait staff were attentive and accommodating. There were signs of updating and renovating. The pool was not usable as they had recently renovated and were waiting on inspections and the ceiling tiles on the 12th floor hallway had been removed and it looked like there were new ones sitting waiting to be installed but none of this affected my comfort or stay. This was a great option for staying in Toronto if you don’t want to pay the prices in the downtown area. We were half a block up from a metro station that took us directly into union station. We parked the car upon arrival and never moved it. The neighborhood was safe with grocery, drug stores, a movie theater, and restaurants in the metro station mall.

The least you can expect at any hotel is a clean and comfortable bed and a decent bathroom and shower. We got neither of these at our recent stay. There was no mattress pad on the bed and it was made in such a way that the mattress was exposed at the top of the bed where our faces were. Also, there was no top sheet so hopefully the duvet cover was changed between guests but let’s say I doubt it. The shower only had a hand-held style shower head that was too small for a good shower. There were mold stains in the grout. They provided no toiletries except for pump bottles that were filled with watered-down, poor quality hand wash and body wash. The toilet ran for a minute after it was flushed. The best thing I can say is the parking was reasonably priced for Toronto. A big thumbs down!!

Overall a great business stay, would definitely stay again. Wonderful front desk staff who really anticipate your needs, a special shout out to Maria who made my stay feel personable from the very start. Even housekeeping staff is lovely and friendly, always greeting you in the elevator and asking what floor you're trying to get to.
The room was renovated, so it was quite nice in comparison to the pictures shown. I was on the 18th floor - very clean and nice views. I quite liked the layout of the room, it was both functional and versatile with a cushioned bench that doubles as a luggage rack. You can easily move the table in the room around to make more space if you need to do a work out and the desk in the room allows you to face both ways. Would have loved more USB outlets though.
In terms of area, lots of coffee shops and restaurants around to pick from and a 15 minute walk from the TTC to get down town. Feels quite safe too.

Dear travelers, Toronto is an extremely expensive city from the point of view of accommodation facilities, however, I would like to positively review this property. First of all it has a great value for money, the price as much as a little high was definitely lower than the Toronto average, great, immense convenience was the subway practically under the hotel with a single line in 20 minutes you are downtown or at the central station. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds. I got to have a light breakfast at an honest price, for me it was more than enough also because I'm not used to the large / savory breakfasts of hotels, the quality of the bakery was really great. Congratulations to the extremely kind breakfast room staff, who was able to recommend me. Near the hotel there are bars and restaurants. I booked directly on the site and using the card of their hotel chain I also had a discount. I will book again in this chain because I found myself very well.

Having stayed at this upscale hotel several times I was surprised and so disappointed during my recent visit. Check-in was easy and uneventful. The metal saddle from the room to the bathroom had a sharp nail protruding and I cut my toe twice. The shower would not work and when I called to have someone come up? No one came, and I was unable to shower for two days. On top of the $350 that it cost me for one night for a solo room there was an additional charge of $21 for parking. During the night, as there was no single sheet, I was extremely warm. In spite of the fact the air conditioning was on, the room would not get cool enough, and the winter blanket was incredibly heavy with no relief to get cool. Another night’s sleep lost. upon checkout, while quietly retelling the issue with the cut on my toe due to the faulty saddle, there was no single sheet and I lost a night sleep, and there was no shower available to me. In spite of the fact this was an upscale hotel. At that point, I was offered free parking and free breakfast. The breakfast was the most disgusting display of food that would be ashamed to be served in a motel along the highway. I am completely shocked, disappointed that this was offered to me in lieu of a night sleep a hot shower and a comfortable room without cutting my foot. The free parking and free breakfast were sad disappointments and certainly did not make up for my experience. I will never stay in this hotel again, shame on them for the price they charged me.

This is such a great hotel. I was a little bummed when I found out the pool was closed for renovations but honestly, there is so much to do in the GTA that we wouldn't have had time to use it anyway. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. There is always lemon water on tap in reception and games for the kids. Also free computers to check your emails, etc. Our room was on the ninth floor and we had a lovely view of the park across the street. The room itself was lush and the mattresses were so comfy. Very good air con as well which we really appreciated after a hot summer day. I was a little apprehensive about the $22 breakfast, but when you take into account the exchange rate and the fact that kids eat free it is a fantastic value for Toronto. One or two coffee takeaways nearly cost this much and you get free tea and coffee with refills with the hotel breakfast. They also provide a fabulous spread of not only pastries, pancakes, yogurts and cereals but also hot cooked breakfast items such as bacon, eggs, hash browns and sausages, etc. I'm vegan and I was able to find a few items that worked for me but my daughter (who isn't) found loads that she liked. Both the breakfast and dinner staff were personable and would go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. We had dinner takeaway from the restaurant a couple of times and I can honestly say that the falafels were out of this world. A must try. The hotels location is also fab, line 1 one the subway and get off at North York Central station and you are there.
