The hotel is adequately renovated, and the amenities are very good, including the restaurant. Sadly the location is not in a prmie spot. Jarvis street is not unsafe, however there is no incentive to walk on that or nearby streets. A gentrifying spot, but not yet there.

We booked to stay here on out first trip to Toronto/Canada. Arriving in the evening after flying in from London it was a real pleasure to be greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Our room on the 15th floor had great views and the rooftop provides yet another opportunity for a 360 panorama of this great city. The breakfast buffet...

We stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel is a short walk to Toronto Eaton Centre. It has spa on the rooftop with a view of the city which is great.Breakfast was included and food was okay. It gets very busy in the morning and had to wait to be seated. Their staff was very helpful though specially to their bellman...

Outside this hotel doesn't look like much - but inside it is absolutely gorgeous. The giant flowers in the vase of the foyer, the large lobby that opens in to the outstanding restaurant, the free breakfast... all make me wish I had never left Toronto.

I'm puzzled by the largely positive reviews that The Grand has received so that I wonder if I'm missing something. Don't be fooled by the name of the hotel, it's not at all grand. I would congratulate the photographer who took the pictures on the website, they're very flattering of a hotel that feels rather jaded and dated. On a...

Just sitting in the lovely lobby and feeling like we have to write a review before we go. The staff were all polite and friendly from the concierge to reception to the restaurant servers. The terrace hot tubs were clean and such a treat after walking through the attractions all day in the city. The free one way shuttle service...

The hotel is a beautiful building and the swimming pool, sauna and roof-top with hot-tubs are fantastic. Check-in was fast and very efficient and the staff are welcoming and informative. We were upgraded to a room with two kingside beds which was a lovely gesture. The room itself on first impressions was nice, then you start to notice how shabby...

I absolutely love this place!!!! My family and I were stunned on how beautiful the hotel, especially our suite was. We wish we could live there :). We had a three bedroom suite which equated to an apartment. It was two floors and spacious does not even describe it. Everyone had their own bathroom and there was even a guest...

I came to Toronto on business, and even though the upgraded me and gave a Jacuzzi tub, which didn't make sense I am traveling on business by myself. 😐There is a complimentary buffet breakfast which is okay, but the wait staff hovered over my table while I ate then expected a tip. Very uncomfortable and strange. There is a good...

From parking the car to check-out. My family and I had a very great experience. Staff members are extremely friendly from the valet parking staffs, front desk, maintenance, to the pool area. They even gave me a bottle of wine twice. At first, my name was spelled wrong then the second night they corrected it, which is very simple matter,...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
