This hotel in downtown Toronto is a rare find. We tried it out because of a special weekend deal. Only $169US including tax on a Sunday night including a great buffet breakfast!! It's only 5 blocks off Yonge Street. A real plus because there is no noise. Pleasant staff from the door man to the front desk to room service....

The hotel is located in “Old Town” and should have been our first clue…. Transients frequent the neighborhood and we stepped over used syringes on our walk to the shopping district. The hotel itself is a lovely OLD hotel in need of several repairs. There are two hot tubs on the roof and one was out of order during our...

We spent 4 nights here in August and couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. The rooms have a king bed at one end and a small lounge area at the opposite end with a galley style kitchenette in between, this meant that we could sit in a couch in our own little lounge and watch TV, read...

We went to this hotel for a Christmasy family weekend. Not far from streetcar stop, walking distance to the Eaton Centre and the Christmas market in the Distillery District. Buffet breakfast was good. I love that it was quiet, despite how full it was.

This hotel was definitely up to my standard, which is reasonable. Bathroom was filthy dusty in all areas not cleaned daily (top of toilet, kleenex box, shelf next to shower). Lobby was tired and furniture there was very dirty. Room was extremely small. Every time we called for our car, the front desk forgot to tell the valet parking we...

My Husband and I stayed at the Grand Hotel for 4 nights at the end of our honeymoon. The room was large and clean. There was a king bed, sofa bed, small kitchenette with fridge and microwave plus 2 TVs with DVD players. The only disappointing thing as far as the room was concerned was the fact that the cutlery...

We were visiting Toronto and spent 3 nights in this hotel. We were very happy with everything this hotel had to offer and we would definitely come back. We requested to be in a quiet location away from an elevator. We were put on the 18th floor which was nice because the next level up was the roof top jacuzzi....

This hotel is like most standard downtown hotels and provides everything you need. The pool and whirlpool are great and everything is kept extremely clean. The roof top terrace is an extra that most hotels don’t have and gives good views of the city (we didn’t get to use the whirlpools on the roof). The breakfasts were buffet style with...

Stayed 7 nights at this hotel at the end of September and beginning of October 2014. Enjoyed every minute at this hotel. Staff was fantastic. So helful and nice. The room was spacious and well equipped. Housekeeping did an amazing job and everything was clean. Every morning you got a newspaper outside your door. Nice! The indoor pool was great....

This was a fantastic hotel that me and a friend stayed in for just shy of a week. First of all, it lives up to its name, being a very grand hotel indeed! The check in lady was extremely helpful, giving us a map and highlighting all the good spots to see. Our room was good with a microwave, and...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
