I don't understand why this hotel has so many negative reviews. I stayed here with the family for 6 days in the first week of August and had a great time. Staff and management were always visible in the lobby area and were very helpful (especially Humberto on the 1865 desk). The rooms were comfortable and beds amungst the most...

If all that mattered was location, this hotel would be fine. I was shocked that there was not any place within the hotel that would qualify as a dining room. The staff was very courteous and obviously well trained, but the hotel was poorly laid out and difficult to navigate. We were on floor 9 - wanted to go to...

Came home with bed bug bites - see picture. It's a very sad situation that Toronto hotels have bed bugs now. Unwilling to accept hotel's explanation since I found bed bugs in my suitcase when I came home and it had not been used for 2 years.

We visi the subway ilted Toronto in August 2013 when the hotel was going through some redevelopment- this was much needed and what had been completed looked fantastic. Good pool area for kids, restaurant and bar suitable for couples and families. Rooms were comfortable but needed updating, service was excellent at all times. The location is superb for shopping at...

Tired rooms, hopeless elevator system with queues to use them often up to 10 mins (26 floor hotel), lots of dogs in rooms which is not v hygienic! Rooms (not just mine apparently) stink of stale cigarette smoke. Staff rude when I complained. Would not recommend.

This is the second year that we have stayed at the Chelsea. In my mind, it is perfectly located for what interests us in Toronto. It's close enough to the university, the convention center, Eaton Centre, and other downtown locations so that we can walk to them within 25 minutes. Our rooms have always had nice, skyline views. It is...

Hotel was clean, quick check in, very close to shopping. about a 1mile walk to all water front and sporting venues. no bells or whistles but great for a one night stay. Underground Parking lot was reasonably priced for the location, however very low clearance. I drive a range rover and had to lower it and even then it was...

Very efficient, friendly and helpful check-in team at the front desk made it a good welcome to this big and busy city centre hotel. We found team at check-in and concierge (especially Daniel) could not have been more helpful; decent family-sized rooms with reliable wifi; kids loved the robot, free popcorn and lemonade in reception the night we checked in!...

Ryan at he front desk was great and started my stay on a good note. Bathrooms are small and the tub was not in he best condition. This was a convenient location to the subway. Lots of places to eat nearby. Internet works well in rooms. I was on the 24th floor and could still hear some street noise.

We stayed in the Chelsea for three nights. It is a very nice family hotel with good sized family rooms. The location is excellent to explore Toronto. I could see dundas square from my room and the hotel is on yonge street so there are numerous restaurants nearby. Checkin/checkout was very efficient

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
