I was in town for the weekend for a workshop at the university. My two-night stay at McGill B&B proved to be peaceful and enjoyable. My room was quiet with easy access to bathroom facilities, both very clean and welcoming. Free Wi-Fi and in-room TV. The kitchen was charming with a selection of fruit, muffins, cereals, juices, yogurts, etc. The...

I stayed at McGill during a conference trip to Toronto. The price for a single ($60) was way below any local hotels or other B&B's. The room was clean, pleasant, and in addition to a bed and a desk, featured a small closet, a window, free Internet, towels, and an alarm clock. It was very cozy, as was the whole...

McGill Bed And Breakfast is super-inviting. It's located in a really nice neighborhood, everything nearby. It's a sizable place, the rooms giving you space and privacy. It's up to date, with a public PC/wifi and flatscreens, and it has a 17 year history. it has great lighting, decor, and atmosphere. Booking was easy, I just sent an e-mail and I...

Loved the location of this property. Perfectly situated in the heart of the gay village. No need for cabs after a night out - loved it. The welcome was great but have to say it needs TLC. Some new carpets - and a lick of paint to brighten it up. I stayed in the yellow room. Free wi-fi and a...

This B&B has a great location within walking distance of the gay village and about 30 minutes to the waterfront. There is a new owner who is doing some improvements. The room we stayed in was a bit musty as it was in the basement and the furnishings are a bit older, but for $109 for the night with continental...

I stayed 3 nights at House on McGill in august 2012. I experienced 2 different rooms: both were quite large, and the beds very comfortable. Only the size of the TV set could be improved. The 2 shared bathrooms also offer everything one may expect. And the breakfast offered pretty much everything a european costumer would expect (except fresh bred, but...

I googled Gay Bed & Breakfast Toronto and House on McGill came up. I arranged to book three nights there with two beds in the room. The reason I booked a Bed & Breakfast was I thought I would be able to learn about where to go and what was available for gay entertainment. When we arrived there was no...

We can highly recommend a stay at McGills. We received a warm welcome by the host, when we arrived and felt immediately at home. There is a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The house is an old Victorian house in downtown close to shops, eateries, coffee bars and sights. The house is nicely decorated and clean. The white room where we stayed...

I had the pleasure of staying at this B & B while coming to Toronto. I had a limited budget and found a room for 2 nights. When I initially inquired I was quickly responded to online by the owner who provided me with every piece of detail in one email. There is a small room for $60 per night...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
