We were unlucky... In our room there was a girl who was constantly setting the air conditioning (loud thing) to 65 degrees... and then sleeping under heavy blankets. The kitchen utensils were in a very bad state, barely usable for cooking, and there was very little space available to sit and eat, absolutely not enough for such a big place....

I liked this hostel and I will stay here again. It was in a great downtown location and not too expensive, if you do a dorm style room. My parking was the same price as the room! I rode there on my motorcycle. It was pretty clean. The rooms and facilities were pretty good. It was very busy so I...

I stayed in this hostel for a few times and it was awesome, really nice staff, clean rooms and the breakfast was very good, too :) I especially loved the porch where you could just hang out and relax during hot summer days and the area was also good, it was close to downtown which is great. The only thing...

I stayed here for one night in a four bed dorm. The room was small but clean. There was a little private bathroom and the mattress was comfortable. They had put all girls together, which I found pleasant. The atmosphere in the community areas is friendly and social. Although I found the rock music that was playing a tad too...

Excellent location to everything one would want from city of Toronto. Price is reasonable, clean, fully air conditioned in the heat of summer which is absolutely great. Stayed here for good 4 nights in total and really recommend for budget travellers. If you're hungry, there is a reasonable small hostel restaurant downstairs. Downside, it needs free wifi to reach every...

Close to Union Station (15 minutes), so it was perfect for my stopover. It's close to groceries, St-Lawrence Market, pharmacies, public transport, lots of restaurants, downtown shopping. It feels like a safe enough neighbourhood. I was comfortable there. The property itself is about average for a Canadian HI Hostel. Clean, basic, great staff. I was in an 8-person female dorm,...

This is the third Hostelling International I have stayed at after having previously staying at the branches in New York City and Washington D.C. I stayed with a group over two nights at the weekend. The hostel is large in size but much smaller than the HI in NYC and it's facilities include a small laundry room, a downstairs bar...

We only stayed at this hostel the one night, so to be fair I didn't get a chance to try out what looked to be the best aspects (the rooftop patio and the bar/restaurant in the basement), however the hostel did not do much to win me over. Firstly, when we arrived, I didn't have I had had looked up...

Absolutely loved this hostel. Easily the best hostel I've stayed in in terms of activities and events. Every day there were numerous things offered for you to take part in. Super easy to meet people! I travelled solo and ended up making heaps of amazing friends who i'm still in contact with today. The breakfast/Lunch/Dinner was café quality and cheap...

We arrived after a long bus ride from Michigan and could not have been happier. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bed was comfortable, if the room was a little small. We were booked in only for a couple of nights but would have stayed longer if we could. The location was good once we knew our way...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
