Weather was terrible (heavy rain), which shouldn't have been an issue, but throughout our 3 night stay we witnessed multiple parts of the roof falling down, hundreds of buckets in the hallways catching roof leaks, and constantly flooded corridors and rooms. In addition, the bathrooms weren't cleaned once during the 4 days we were there. We arrived to a blocked...

During my stay at college backpackers, I had a lot of fun. This place is located in kensington market, which is a nice little area for people to come shop, eat, and hangout. The staff was very helpful. Parking is horrible! If you have to check out early, let the hotel know at least 48hr in advance or else you...

This was my first try at a Hostel and I would have to say it was mediocre. We were on the fourth floor in a private room, which was great except that there was no air. When we asked the front desk about the air the reply we got was "your patio doesn't open?" I literally could not breathe until...

Stayed in a private room here for 5 nights with my boyfriend, and fell in love with Toronto. This hostel is right in the middle of Kensington Markets which are really fun - also an easy walk to downtown and Chinatown. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the privates have a fridge and balcony! Not as social as other...

I stayed here in a mixed dorm and found the experience, on the whole, adequate. The hostel has good basic services : a clean, pleasant, although a too small and cramped dorm, with comfortable large single beds and clean, fresh linen, and I was very pleased to get a good--night's sleep! The dorm also has good-sized lockers and storage space, in...

College backpackers well exceeded my expectations! We booked in here for 14 nights as we were only new to Toronto so needed a base but didn't need anything too fancy. I had been looking between planet traveller and college backpackers and so delighted we went with college backpackers! Check in was simple and straight forward, full payment was taken at...

When choosing a Canadian vacation, I decided on the 'New York of Canada', Toronto. And, just like I always do, I look for a place close to mass transit. Streetcars stop just steps from the front door. There are three doors: one to the front desk, which opens at 8am, and two to the dorms/rooms themselves. Access to the latter...

Satisfied overall with my stay at this hostel which had a great breakfast, dorm beds which were very comfortable with a good amount of space, great wifi and a kitchen which is very new and always kept very clean. Most importantly the location is bang smack in the middle of Kensington - Toronto's funkiest, alternative scene with a zillion cheap...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Toronto's main Chinatown has the honor of being the largest in North America. Gaping down across Dundas Street West and Spadina Avenue, the area is a wonderful medley of shops and restaurants, busy signs and bright red gates, a destination for foodie fun. Chinatown's streets are always bustling, packed with people and outdoor stalls hawking fresh produce and products. The restaurants and authentic marketplaces that shoulder in against each other display shining roast ducks and menus studded with dumplings and noodle bowls. The air is pervaded with music. different languages, and the smell of fried food and mouth-watering desserts. Chinatown's restaurants represent a broad range of fare, from traditional Szechuan and Shanghai foods, to other Asian delicacies, including some of the top Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean spots in the city. Whether you're in the mood for a sit-down tea house or a bubble tea to go, Chinatown is the spot to enjoy an exciting walk and the promise of leaving satisfied.
