I booked this hotel for a night while in the city for a show. After reading some of the reviews I was a little nervous but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel had a nice design and cool art work. Yes there was a "tent city" in the park but that didn't bother me. The exterior is well lit and has cameras so I wasn't worried about going outside at night to smoke. The room was small but there was adequate storage space and it was clean. The bed was comfortable and I had a great sleep. I didn't see bugs of any kind as reported in some reviews. There was a fridge, nice TV and coffee maker in the room. There was also a lounge area that had coffee and tea, the staff had fresh coffee on at 5am which was great for an early bird like me. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was satisfied and would stay here again.

I stayed here for 6 nights recently in a Premium Room, which was lovely, modern, renovated and spacious. The room had a mini fridge, a large desk, and a leafy view from the windows. The hotel is in a very convenient location, within 15 minutes’ walk of both Dundas Station and College Station, and within 5 minutes’ walk of several streetcar stops. It is also within 10 to 15 minutes’ walk of Loblaws supermarket, the CF Toronto Eaton Centre shopping centre, and the nightlife in Church Street. There is a lovely courtyard with trees and seats and the street is quiet. The property does not have lifts, but a staff member very helpfully offered to carry my suitcase up the stairs, without me asking. On that note, the staff were very helpful and courteous. Also, the price I paid for my room was great value for inner city Toronto. I will mention a few minor issues. Opposite the end of the street, there is a park called Allan Gardens, which is basically a tent city of homeless people. I wasn’t aware that Toronto has such a problem with homelessness. That said, I didn’t experience any issues in relation to this, even walking alone in the early hours of the morning, and there are security guards stationed in the park. There were also a lot of people around in the general area, which made me feel safer. In addition, regarding the hotel, there are staff on the front desk at all hours. Also, I wasn’t keen on the strict ‘no visitors’ policy. While this is a common policy for hotels and I can understand why they have it, being single and traveling alone, it could have been an issue for me. If you are partnered or traveling in a family unit, this won’t be relevant to you. Back to the positives, I really appreciated that the hotel staff were very responsive to emails I sent with queries about the hotel prior to checking in, and afterwards regarding a query I had about my security deposit. Overall, I was very happy with my stay at Pembroke Inn, and I would definitely recommend it.

I stayed here for 4 nights over Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend and booked online around 6 months in advance. Trying to find somewhere affordable and easily accessible in central Toronto proved difficult and I was really pleased to find this place! Easily accessible from downtown on foot or by bus and tram, the hotel offers budget accommodation with small hints of comfort at no extra cost. I loved the cleanliness of the room and the bed was comfortable. Complimentary toiletries were a nice touch and a lovely big shower and gallons of nice hot water. Air con worked well and the huge TV in the room connected easily to my Netflix account for evening entertainment. Fast and reliable WiFi. The complimentary coffee in the morning was a really lovely touch and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Only thing that I can say that was a minor inconvenience was the noise of doors slamming and people in the room above me. It’s an old building and I had a room in the basement. It didn’t take away from my enjoyment though. I’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone travelling in the area! Thanks for a pleasant stay!!

There were rats in the pillows, a gorilla in the shower, Willy Wonka knocking on my door, plants growing in the sinks, half eated banana under my bed, frog in the toilet, you need to give $100 when you check-in, there was a fiesta upstairs, a bomb squad came into my next door neighbors room I had to move rooms to a room with white powder under my bed, I was so scared when they started to check other rooms with bomb squad sniffing dogs, luckily they didnt find it... Later I tried some of the stuff, cuz I thought it was like flour or something. (It was not flour) But i was happy i tried some, and after i blacked out and woked up in the hospital because I DUI'ed and I almost DIED.💀

IGNORE the bad reviews. Quick check in. An issue with the AC and the guys at front desk moved me immediately. For the price this is very good. Quiet street and within easy walking of bars and restaurants. Clean room. Nice !

Old, a bit spent, funky-chic, this place is a question mark to me. The property is on a quiet street that dead-ends at a park filled with homeless people camping out and hanging out all over the neighborhood. While they are not a physical threat they are a bit off-putting and openly doing drugs, among other things. The property is just outside of this but the street is filled with all different types making their way through the neighborhood. This property is no-frills: basic room, toiletries and bathroom. No restaurant, no fitness room and very few other amenities. We ended up here during Toronto's Jazz Fest and Pride Month so we had very few choices at a "reasonable" price. Based on our stay I would say that this place was still overpriced and it just caught the tail wind of the other properties being pretty much sold out. Our room had no hangers in the closet, a slow shower drain and a clogged toilet (okay - I did that). Three phone calls to the front desk during a three-day stay. The management took care of ll of it. Still an odd property and I don't want to say I would never stay there again but it would not be on my mind.

I take my time to write reviews when it’s worth it. And this is a great opportunity to talk abt how a hotel has improved. I checked several reviews before reserving, some where good some others not quite; but my personal experience was great. What do you need when coming to have a pleasant stay? Convenient location, just 20 mins walking from Dundas square. Clean, fast wifi, helpful and polite staff. Common kitchen to take a bite before heading to the city; fair price .. all that you need to have a nice Toronto stay.
