Right next to the Kensington Market, this hostel cannot get any better. Great view on Toronto from the hotel's terrace, nice staff, tasty breakfast provided, room cleaned every day, wi-fi and very affordable! What more a traveller needs on his/her journey? A really cool place when they organise parties. If you want to discover the neighbourhood, go do Kensigton Market,...

The facilities were clean and also up to date. My dorm room had its own restroom and lockers. I was impressed by how efficient and how nice everything was in the entire hostel. I really enjoyed the common areas and met a lot of nice travelers, including the hostel staff. They have fun event nights and have a huge area...

Friendly and helpful staff, really clean, incredible views from the rooftop. Not hard to get down town from the location. Good breakfast and activities, plus the en suite showers are a real bonus. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Breakfast was amazing, the best breakfast in a hostel I've ever had and it's all free. The staff were fab, super friendly and helpful, simply can't fault them. They have themed nights, movie night with free popcorn, karaoke night etc. Free Wifi is available, quick and easy to access. I so wanted to rate this place as excellent but unfortunately...

My husband and I planned a trip to Toronto but quickly realized that hotel prices were out of our budget. We instead booked our stay at the Planet Traveler hostel but were nervous because we didn't know what to expect. Everything turned out great! We had a private room and only had to share a bathroom with 3 other private...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
