Where do I start...They rigidly adhere to a 3 pm check in. When you arrive you are charged a separate $200 security deposit on the room - who does that! Talk about treating all of your guests like criminals at check in. The check in process is lengthy, not helped by the limited English abilities of the desk clerk. The staff were generally unhelpful and not friendly. The room was dirty, mould in the bathroom, smells terrible, shower wouldn't work, uncleaned coffee maker still with old grounds in it. The room was booked for me by someone else but they denied that it was paid for - even though it was (so now it has been doubly paid for and trying to reverse charges). No meals available - fortunately there are several nice restaurants within walking distance. Without a doubt this is the worst hotel I have stayed in the last ten years. Needs a full overhaul and new management.

Reserved on line, check in was ok, but the room was awful, smelled of smoke and mold. Carpets were dirty and felt damp The toilet was working, waited 40min for the "plumber" to come who handed me a plunger to fix it. Which it did not.

We booked this through Expedia and paid in advance so no refunds available. The photos they show are NOT recent...they must be about 10 years old. The hotel is run down - the paint is peeling drastically , UNFRIENDLY staff - not helpful at all. The rooms all smell. HUGE stains on all the carpets. We had 1/2 roll of toilet paper, garbage was left over after "they cleaned" and the ant trap was a nice touch. We got up the next day expecting at least a clean room and a nice breakfast. The breakfast room is dismal and breakfast consists on cold cereal, toast, coffee - only decaf as they had no regular etc. NOT HOT FOOD although the have a full "catering" department. The lady working there "cleaned" the counters by using her hand (ungloved) to wipe the crumbs onto the floor and leaving them there. When we returned - nothing was cleaned in our room., we went to the front desk and they said that "because of Covid, they only clean after our stay". we were there for 7 days!!! YOu have to ask for toilet paper and towels - and they deliver them without gloves or masks . So much for Covid protocols . So they cannot clean the rooms because of Covid ---yet NO NOT wear masks, use gloves, provide sanitizer or even have plexiglass at the front desk. Which it is...are you following Covid protocols or not????? Would you like some black mold with your shower - they provide that as well.(see photo) The place is NOT secure - one of the doors (where the front desk cannot see) is left unlocked 24/7. Anyone can walk in and do whatever they want. There are open electrical boxes without covers in the hallways for inquisitive children to play with. Unfriendly staff on all levels. We decided to check out a ay early - enough was enough. Went to the front desk, they said 'Card", entered info in the computer and said "you're done". And that was it....no thank you for staying, why are you leaving early, thanks for forking over hard earned cash to us for doing nothing". Zip, nothing. If you have to stay in Charlottetown, do yourself a favour and AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS. They actually have a Diamond Status from CAA in 2020 and 3.5 out of 4 from Canada Select in 2022! I will be writing to them asking them to review their qualifications. And we are writing to Expedia to get some money back. I am hoping that Trip Advisor and Expedia investigate the 4 and 5 star ratings...they will probably see they all come from one IP address and should be removed.

The hotel claims they have recently renovated, this is fiction. The hotel is old, run down, not maintained, rooms are dirty with a horrible odor 🤮! Never, ever, ever would I stay here again. The room had not been clean: floors not vacuumed, bathroom dirty, stains on walls, I pray the sheets were changed 😬.

Hello Darren, We always appreciate feedback from our guests and see your comments as an essential element to help us improve the quality of our hotel. I would like to extend our apologies for your uncomfortable stay. We are aware that the hotel is dated and in need of renovations, we also wish to provide our guests with the most comfortable stay possible, which is why we are currently working hard towards updating the property and our standards of operations. I am unsure of where you saw that we have been recently renovated but I apologize for the confusion and will be looking into this to correct the error. We are not recently renovated but rather starting renovations, to improve the hotel for the comfort of our guests. I would also like to apologize for the uncleanliness of your room. Though the rooms are old and I need of renovation, we do strive for highest sanitary standards possible, and we are looking into the issues you experienced in your room during your stay. Best, Elizabeth Collicutt

Just stayed there this month. Disgusting!!! Shower full of mold. Stains all over the carpets. Hotel also being used as a temporary homeless shelter we think since many were inside the hotel and they had a security guard posted but he wasn't removing them. We have been trying to get a refund or price reduction but booking.com had no luck and messages to the hotel directly have gone unanswered. Paid over $200 per night. Thank goodness we were only booked for 1 night. DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!

Stayed a week. 1st room the door wouldn’t lock, 2nd room had no hot water on 2 different days. When we asked for cleaning services we were told no, they were too busy, asked again another day and they didn’t show. The rooms were dingy with large gaps under the main door. The do not have a hot breakfast even though their website and reservation say that. When you ask to speak to a manager there is never anyone there and the staff won’t help you.

We stayed here 3 years ago in 2019. Today in 2022 we are shocked to find the place seriously run down. Starting with check in....which is at 3 pm, and one person checking in, so waited in line. Check in attendant was not very friendly, and offered no info about the amenities. We reserved a suite and it didn't have the kitchenette as well stocked as it was 3 years ago (one spoon, only 2 plastic glasses in the bathroom). No maid service unless request specific cleaning needed, towels, etc. To top it off, we were adked for a $200 damage deposit, refundable when we check ouf! We have been staying in motels/hotels for the past four nights on our journey from out of province and have not been asked for a damage deposit. This is a joke at this establishment due to the run down condition we find it in now. Cleanliness is not a priority it seems as carpets are dirty/stained in our suite. Unfortunately, I didn't check reviews on Trip Advisor prior to booking for this year's Shellfish Festival because we were fine staying here 3 years ago, but now I wished I had as I would have booked elsewhere. It is such a shame to have Charlottetown Inn & Conference Centre representing a conference centre for the city of Charlottetown in such a run down condition. Unfortunately with everything downtown booked due to Shellfish Festival, we have no choice but to stay here. Lesson learned...should have read reviews before booking a room here. We haven't even been to the breakfast yet, but doesn't look promising after reading reviews.

The worst hotel I’ve ever almost stayed in. Checked in, and went across to our room where the elevator and hallways stunk like cigarettes and marijuana. Wet stains all over the carpet. The room wasn’t any better. We weren’t the only ones that refused to stay there. Would rather sleep in my car.

I was a little concerned when we drove up to the lobby to check in and noticed the peeling paint. The clerk who checked us in was not very friendly or forthcoming with any information. We had to ask about breakfast and wifi. Even though it was nighttime and our room was in the building across the street, he neglected to tell us that there was a tunnel between the two buildings so we wouldn’t have to walk outside. The breakfast consisted of bread, bagels, muffins, yogurt and cereal. The juice machine wasn’t working. Another guest walked into the breakfast room, observed the selection and exclaimed “There’s economy, and then there’s REAL economy!” Our room was shabby and in need of updating. The shower was moldy. The hotel does have a free parking lot. This seems like it was a nice hotel at one time, but it has been let go. I would not stay here again.
