Staff were A+ and the location was perfect. We stayed in a condo just off Queen Street, so we didn’t have to drive anywhere to get food or amenities. Check in was easy and the staff were helpful. The bed was more a twin than a queen bed so that wasn’t perfect but we made do.
Absolutely outstanding in every way. The Great George is located in the heart of downtown Charlottetown, steps away from restaurants and shopping. Beautiful decor in the reception area and guest lounge. My husband and I stayed in the 1 bedroom queen suite located in the JH Downs building. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine, Cows chips and salt water taffy. A very nice welcome to PEI. Along with the bedroom and bathroom, the room contained a kitchen, living room area, washer and dryer. Breakfast is buffet style in the lounge area. There is a variety of bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs, sausages, muffins, pastries and fruit. Coffee is served all day in the reception area. During the week at 5:00pm, there is happy hour where the guests receive a complimentary drink. What sets this hotel apart from others is the service. The staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is amazing and make the guests feel important and welcome. Thank you especially to Fernando for his conversation, assistance and constant smile. We will be back and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an exceptional stay in Charlottetown. …
Eriks and Cecelia were GREAT to deal with. The Hurricane created a complete Island Disaster with no electricity or anything. They spent a significant amount of time getting my credit sent back to me from Expedia which took 2 months.
This was my first stay at the Great George where a friend and I celebrated her 50th birthday! Absolutely wonderful and helpful staff and we even got an extra treat for my friends birthday! They offer refreshments and cookies in the lobby. Their seating/lobby area is so welcoming and comfortable. Breakfast was fabulous and their Christmas decorations were so beautiful. I didn't want to leave. I absolutely loved every single little thing about this place. Perfect location for downtown Charlottetown, can walk to many local shops and restaurants. Fabulous Stay!
What a gem the Great George is. Friendly staff, very clean hotel. Little touches such as tea and coffee in the lobby and biscuits in the afternoon. Complimentary glass of wine or beer in the early evening. Nice local fare. Our bathroom floor was heated which was gorgeous though our jacuzzi bath in the main room didn't work. Still had a relaxing bath without the extra bubbles. Bed was high but very comfy. Breakfast wasn't a wide choice but really it was ample and good quality. Ricardo and the staff were all very friendly and we were sorry to only have two nights here.
Our first time staying here and we were thoroughly impressed with the effort that it must have taken to convert this block into a very comfortable hotel. If you are one that needs the pampered surroundings and facilities of say a Hilton, you may not want to stay here. Location id great being within a couple of blocks of all downtown including the harbour. We stayed in the hideaway in the Carrol house. If stairs are an issue for you, this room is not for you either. They have a happy hour on weekdays and they have some absolutely scrumptious cookies out in the afternoon. Breakfast is a little limited but still decent. i found that the bed was too hard but the spouse liked it. The shower stall is very tight. Room temp control can be a bit of a struggle and if you need to use the wall mounted air con units, they might be too noisy for you to sleep. With the skylights in this room, natural light invades the room at sunrise so if you need a blackout room, this will alos be an issue for you. We'll be back.…
The Great George is THE place to stay in Charlottetown! This historic property is charming, centrally located, with a welcoming well-appointed lobby area that doubles as the seating area for the complimentary breakfast service. Our favourite aspects of the Romantic Hideaway Suite were a lovely hydrotherapy tub and double balconies. The extra touches (complimentary) made for a memorable stay, such as tea, coffee, water and fresh-baked cookies, evening happy hour, and bicycles! The service was outstanding. Each member of the team was friendly, professional, and helpful, especially Matthew, Amal, Cecilia, Jaden, Ariel, Vasu, Fred with special thanks to Eriks!
I’ve been to Charlottetown a number of times but never stayed here before. Now that I have, I’ll never stay anywhere else! The room was beautiful, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the breakfast options and the location was great. I’ll definitely be back!
Beautiful hotel in great central Charlottetown location. Off street car parking was good. Loved the furniture and furnishings. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Excellent breakfast. Room was spacious and spotless. Great atmosphere.
I had the great fortune of being able to stay one night at this lovely Hotel after 8 days of no power at home as a result of hurricane Fiona. As much as I am happy that the power finally was restored, I was also sad about leaving this wonderful oasis! The staff, the room, the breakfast -- all so accommodating. I am highly recommending this hotel!
