The houses are in a large, nicely landscaped garden. The hosts were friendly and helpful and fed us extravagant breakfasts in the charmingly-decorated dining room. The common room was comfortable and filled with movies (mainly for kids), books and games to play. Our room was clean and well-equipped.

We stayed 2 nights at A Country Home B&B in July, with our 8-year old son and 11-year old daughter, and enjoyed our time there thoroughly. We felt very much at home and wished we could have stayed longer. We stayed in the Yellow Room, which is one of the barn rooms with a loft. Our kids loved having their own twin beds tucked upstairs under the eaves of the sloping barn roof -- I think they felt like they had their own little clubhouse! We knew we would be staying in one of four rooms in the converted barn, and expected something offbeat and rustic and with uncertain privacy. We were surprised by how how homey, clean, quiet, and private from the other guest rooms our room seemed. Our bathroom was very nice and seemed very new. The owners, Cathy and Jeff, have thought of so many nice touches, and everything is in its place. Some of the spaces are a bit small, but in a funky, cozy, dollhouse kind of way. They are also very easygoing people, and gave us good recoomendations about the area, places to eat, etc.

The website for A Country Home makes much of the gourmet breakfast, and it's no joke. This is not just a nice homemade hot breakfast, it is truly outstanding and gourmet quality, like what you might expect from a nice restaurant breakfast. (Jeff also manages at the wonderful Olde Dublin Pub in downtown Charlottetown, and brings his culinary skills to bear with breakfast!) Fresh fruit and hot breakfast dishes, served in courses, far exceeded our expectations. Breakfast is in a dining area in the main house, and is served to guests at times of their choosing at individual tables, which allows guests to be as social with the other guests as they like, but is not necessarily a big communal breakfast. I would also mention, Cathy seems to pay careful attention to individual tastes; each dish on the second morning seemed to have been adjusted to our preferences (and the peculiarities of our picky-eater little boy!)

The property is nicely located at the northwest edge of town, on a few quiet acres, but a quick 5-10 minutes' drive from anywhere in Charlottetown. The owners made the kids feel welcome to romp around on the beautiful property, enjoy the beautiful flower gardens and rolling lawns. Highly recommended, especially for families. For us, this was part of a two week family driving adventure around the Maritimes. Of the many places we stayed, we think this one was the best value for the money. We felt Cathy and Jeff could have asked a higher nightly rate for the wonderful room, attention to our needs, and wonderful breakfast.

We are a family of five so usually have a very difficult time finding nice and affordable hotel rooms to accommodate us with three kids. This worked out perfectly! We stayed in the barn and parents even had their own room! Kids loved the beautiful outside grounds, enjoyed watching movies in the common room and we all appreciated the lovely breakfast and walked away very happy each day. We would definitely stay here again and not hesitate to recommend it to other families.

We also found the rooms to be neat and clean. We were on the bottom floor and did hear the footsteps of our upstairs neighbors, but being an older/ quaint building that really can't be helped. Decorated in an "old-fashion" manner, think Grandma's house. However it was most charming and added to our delight.

We had a great stay here a few weeks ago. Couldn't believe how quaint and peaceful the place was just a short 4min drive to downtown Charlottetown! The rooms and common areas were very clean and it had all the amenities you needed in your room. Great layout of the rooms...perfect for a people traveling with children or a few adults. Love that we had a second upper space so it didn't feel cramped like a hotel room does. Our hosts were really friendly and helpful with recommending places to check out. Great Breakfast too! Highly recommend this place if you want to be near downtown, and I plan to stay here again on my trip to PEI!

Stayed 3 nights in the Barn Lofts (Blue Room). Room was clean, bed was extra comfy and breakfast in the mornings - simply scrumptious. Loved the location - close to highways and downtown was just 10 minutes. Hosts , Cathy and Jeff, were very helpful and pleasant.
Don't understand the negative reviews. Have nothing but a positive experience.
Would definitely recommend!!

Where do I begin...numerous bugs in the suite, kitchen in the main house where we were to be served breakfast - beyond filthy... Smell of dog was overpowering in the kitchen! Dirty dishes and griddles piled on counter at 4 p.m., coffeemaker in our room needed to be scrubbed. This is not a B and B, it's a hovel.

Iles de la Madeleine, Canada

I went there for three nights with a friend. We had the red room in the barn, upstairs. We were very comfortable with a full bed each and all in all, we had pleasant weekend.

Nice and charming B&B near Charlottetown. Old fashion country style, warm and cosy. Very pleasant hosts and housekeeper. Breakfasts are copious and good, but not refined.

There is a cosy common living room in the barn.

The room was about clean: I must say that other reviews mentioning spider nets and dust in the corners are true. But the bed, the counter, the fridge and the sanitaries were spotless. So it's good overall. And it's cheap.

Very convenient for travelers from/to Iles-de-la-Madeleine: The inn is located two blocks from the by-pass road we always use to avoid Charlottetown downtown. Easy to find. Quiet area. Nice surroundings.

I would go there again.

Really friendly welcome on arrival. Lovely comfortable room with 2nd bed on a Mezzanine level in the roof. There is a comfy downstairs lounge as well

The attractive buildings are in a large 2 acre meadow. From the property you are not really aware that you are conveniently close to the main roads out of town- good roadside signage for the driveway means i out of town and a retail mall with restaurants & a cinema is close by

Hosts gave excellent advice on where to go around PEI. Our stay coincided with Hurricane Dorian & we were well looked after with torches, water all supplied well in advance without being asked.

Jeff does the cooking for breakfast which means before 8.30 is the preferred time. Breakfast was amazing every day. Well cooked, tasty & interesting. A lovely dining room full of ornaments made the whole experience a delight. With the power out the morning after the hurricane hot breakfast was still very good as the outdoor bbq was used

Strongly recommended

Stayed here for 5 nights. A rural setting just on the outskirts of Charlottetown. Cathy and Jeff are fantastic hosts and amazing breakfast cooks. I guess the only issue I personally had was the single bed I was sleeping in wasn’t very good so my nights were a bit rough. Other than that it was terrific.

Our rooms were very comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. It is difficult to find in the dark. I would recommend arriving earlier than we did so you don't have to look for it in the dark. Breakfast was delicious.
